  1. A fisherman’s cooler. More meat strips than food.
  2. Brian, there appears to be a trawler in Olcott. Any idea what they are sampling?
  3. Either plankton or Calcium. The water would need to be sampled to tell for sure but the veils appear to have a green cast not white. There has been lots of upwellings this year. I can’t remember a year when I could fish as high in the water column during the heat of summer so it might be fueling calcium from marl off the bottom but we also have had warm weather so maybe plankton? The Catt

I should have prefaced my statement about wind events by saying West or SW winds restock the structure humps with fish. East winds will kill the bite and push the school back West.
  5. A good head’s up! I am sensing Hank is going to get busier with repairs lol.
  6. Here is an event from 2013. This is before the two bad winters that followed. The lake was super warm and we were complaining we needed more kings stocked due to all the bait we were seeing. It took time, warm summers, and some easy winters to get the lake closer to the way it was before the harsh ‘14-‘15 winter reset. Hopefully good things to come with bait levels.
  7. Proof the Lake Ontario IS NOT in decline. Notice whiting event.

No we didn’t fish with the pack. I am finding small isolated rock structures have gobies that hold walleye. Each new wind event reloads them. You don’t have to go that deep.

There is a good school of walleye off the Catt. We spent more time in launch line than it took to get our two man limit before 8:00 am. All caught on worm harnesses near bottom.
  10. This will defund our wildlife programs therefore is anti-hunting and anti-fishing
  11. ?? Michigan is still baitfish poor due to cleaner water and overstocking of Lake Trout. These outliers are probably the result of natural reproduction in one of their many clean running rivers. Something in their genetics is making them stay out in the lake longer.
  12. Reverse natural selection. The biggest and strongest should get the right to breed (I am 5’ 7” and have two kids that are short).
  13. Interesting since moving the weight forward on their smaller walleye board makes it pull harder.
  14. A picture of your board doctoring would be beneficial. Thanks.
  15. Jplugs, silver horde, tomic, custom stuff from thereelshot…
  16. Does anyone know what has happened to the salmon plug industry? Nobody has product.
  17. Caught this legal sized striper this morning off Jersey shore. 9.5 lbs that gave a nice fight BUT …….nothing like the equivalent sized king. For inquiring minds, caught it on a max scent power worm 🪱 off the beach at low tide.
  18. It has been an offshore bite but in this game you have to consider not only where they are but where they are going. Consistent staging locations will be starting so you should always check the mid-waters
  19. Unrelated but this group just came out into the public eye. Everyone is tired of the hard left and the hard right. https://fwdtogether.org
  20. To update the group on how things have progressed with the conversion, I continued to be plagued by poor performance at low RPM. If I dipped below 1,000 RPM while trolling or idling would cause the engine to stumble and shut off. The boat would start up and the cycle would repeat itself. My marine mechanic thought it sounded like a fuel starvation situation and thought replacing the original 1988 carb might do the trick. I thought the problem seemed more electrical but I agreed the carb had been overhauled three times so it was probably time for replacement. After the carb was replaced the engine definitely ran better with a noticeable cleaner burn with less exhaust smells. However, the lower RPM problem - engine shut off thing continued. After showing a video of the fluttering RPM gauge on my dash at idle, the mechanic did some research on the OMC points conversion and found that the timing needed to be advanced. After fixing the timing then adjusting the carb and shift position, the problem was solved. It was a pleasure to actually fish the way I like to fish on Saturday. Hopefully that is the end of the story, and hopefully someone finds this thread useful one day.
  21. Thanks Bill ! I knew you would be up this topic. Stay on this one!
  22. Storms look like they are breaking up as they hit the land.
