  1. I use weather.com hourly forecast and then real-time buoy data. I am on the west side so I pull from the olcott weather buoy.
  2. Hmmm, male blades vs female blades. Perhaps a selling point.
  3. Come on Brian, put some lipstick on em!
  4. Depends on depth and how many rods I am running. If I am running two leadcore per side, I try not to violate the “v” pattern principle of trolling with the outside lines wider, higher in water column, and further back. With the v pattern in mind, I have the amount of leadcore in feet labeled on the reel so I know how much backing I need to let out on the short core to extend past the long core running inside. It helps to have linecounters but you can count lineguide passes. If I am over 40’ with an eight color, I am probably going to clip release to backing just past the knot. If I am over 55’ with the same leadcore, I would not hesitate to slowly release 50’ of backing before clipping on release.
  5. I spent a week up on lake George a few years ago and would see your boat hauling azz making a run from North to South most days. That boat can scoot.
  6. Ugly stick and talora dipsy rods.
  7. This year class of three year olds is funny. They are empty stomached-hungry fish. Typically I don’t put a flasher in the water til the calendar says May, but I have been catching Kings since mid-March on flashers.
  8. R&R magnum Kodiak Wobbler spoons. Email Dave at mytacklebox.com. Get the black with pearl cup and place them 10’ behind your downrigger ball within 10’ of the bottom. Troll with your downspeed at 1.75-2 mph. See spoons on engine cover
  9. Oh no here we go again......are you sure that was the spoon you used? I want you to think really carefully. The bright sun yesterday may have blinded you a little.
  10. 12 Fluoro tied to a dipsy is asking for disaster.
  11. And the bills are having another good draft!!!
  12. Noodle pieces
  13. I suppose lipstick on your balls is a good thing right?
  14. OMG did you name it too??
  15. Bags help, planer boards out help, a kicker with an attachment steering bar to the main motor all help prevent over-steering. Your trim tabs down at different levels could hamper or help as well.
  16. A few factors that others have already touched on.... line diameter (heavier mono floats), spoon weight (paper thin spoons skate), spoon shape (northport nailers have a extra twist in the blank that allow them to dig into the water), and speed you are trolling.
  17. I had some friends catch some Atlantic’s in Oak Orchard Creek in February that were spilling eggs.
  18. Rat kill traps with crunchy peanut butter and pumpkin seeds cinched down with 30 lb braid. Occasionally the bigs turn meat eating by catching mice. A fresh mouse kill cinched down on rat trap with braid.
  19. I once tried to grow a mullet with my curly hair in the eighties.
  20. Ha! A little nervous about putting my daughters’ pics on a public forum is all.
  21. https://www.syracuse.com/coronavirus/2020/04/coronavirus-ny-temporarily-suspends-use-of-all-its-boat-launches-for-recreational-use.html lots of kings around
  22. Apparently Mr Clean can’t launch his boat without breathing on someone.
  23. Seiches on Erie with strong winds has been pushing max load down Niagara speeding up Lake O’s rise. I see less and less of olcott pier each week that passes.
  24. Gator, you used pedantic in a fishing forum thread. Has to be a first.
