  1. Not saying they can’t try. Bucks are ready as soon as velvet drops. Unless does can carry viable sperm for two weeks, conception does not happen this week. Not my research but decades of backdating fetuses. Now I will listen to a buck “locking down” on a doe group and bedding close by so he can keep tabs and do some checking come low light. In the end who cares, the time is now. Get in a tree!
  2. If you are not seeing does it is because they are in hiding from being chased. State agencies have back dated fetuses and breeding typically does not take place this week. Rutting behavior and breeding are two separate things that only come together for a few days.
  3. Nice bucks everyone!!
  4. Rob, looking at wound location, it looks like you may have found a dead space behind/posterior to the heart and below the lungs?
  5. They movin today. Seen a bunch.
  6. It’s been raining awhile. There have been a ton of vultures migrating thru with this cold front. If all else fails look up.
  7. Chew you dinner faster.
  8. so the buck has you figured out. Tomorrow do the exact opposite of what you were planning on doing.
  9. Catch and release on Kings after October 31st. Pull eggs on late run three year olds only. Egg shortfall comes from Canada stock.
  10. Grande Grande.
  11. Gary please tell me you are not part of the deer drive hunters that walk thru brush blowing crow calls in Alabama?
  12. Great story!!!!
  13. I don’t think it is a money issue. There was a sight proposal with funding in place for a hatchery in Niagara county and it was rejected.
  14. Distrust comes from experiences. We were sold on the idea of increasing water levels on Lake Ontario so more fluffy baby ducks and pike could be born in the flooded cottage yards dotting the bays on the South Shore when in reality it was just a way for the shipping industry to make more money. Hopefully the DEC can show via actual numbers that there is a return on the changes. Generally speaking, what is good for the fish is typically good for the fishermen. There is a fine balance between making the put-and-take fishermen and the C&R fishermen happy. My hope is they study the results of the changes and don't make the regulations permanent until they can prove via numbers that there is a positive effect.
  15. Very cool buck and well placed shot!
  16. They both love camera time.
  17. You work? Seemingly everyday there is a new post with you on a sit lol. First day for me will be Saturday. The next two weeks they are suckers for rattling.
  18. That fish hasn’t been up the creek long enough to probably be impacted by the contamination
  19. Stripers and false albacore off jetties from NJ to NC
  20. Wow !! 600 fish is a ton. Congrats! Zach, you still haven’t answered my PM. Any interest in producing some yellow cedar “Lyman” plugs for us salmon guys?
  21. A good old deer snort works for me but I may have to expand my vocalizations after seeing that. It would appear they are attracted to curly’s voice.
  22. Must be the size of the worm.
  23. Since LL’s spawn in September mostly, I would assume most of the larger fish would be up a creek somewhere?? Is anyone getting bigs right now?
  24. If you get bored while on a sit, you could just turn it around for some “selfie time”.
