    Cohos and steelhead really miss the emerald shiner days.

    There might be some opportunities for immature salmon and steelhead offshore over deep water. Weather is tricky that time of year. You might be better served to book a charter in the next couple of weeks to speed up your learning curve and probably save you money.

    Weidel reminded me YOY alewife and smelt may be on graph as 1.5-2” fish. What size alewives are stomach contents showing when you are cleaning fish Vince?

    My eyes were opened this weekend to the insane amount of bait that has appeared. I am concerned about the lack of predators around it.

    I think we going to have a winter again. Dark salmon, Monarch Butterflies migrating early, raptors passing thru early, I saw a buck with shed velvet today, and squirrels going nuts in my yard tell me my snowflauge will see action.

    Yesterday with East wind blues, fish had lockjaw. I probably had 30 fish come off the bottom to take a look, then drift down. Roll over must have O2 levels low making fish not feeling so good. Done for the year boys. The last two years have treated me to the best salmon fishing I can remember. Strange finishing with a 0 for 1 skunk!

    Took three majors in tight last night, one steelhead In mid waters with a few fish lost. Today sucked. On major in tight, one knock off and a laker. Lots of bait but not many hooks. May head to Niagara tomorrow.

    All our families have been touched by cancer. My mother-in-law started her first chemo treatment today.

    Great event that is growing each year. Thank you Steph, Vince and all those who volunteered their time to make the event the success it is. I would also like to thank NOAA wave forecasters.......for having a sense of humor. See ya all next year!

    Reelin for a cure event today out of olcott with the lake rolled over and East wind, I went with tried and true (the aforementioned spoon that shall remain mostly nameless) on 6 out of 7 rods I ran. Never took them off.

    If you want to avoid other species as "bycatch", I would suggest December offshore in the top 40'. The second place would be July off the drop on the Niagara bar with nets set at the thermocline. The third would be near the elbow in the fence on the canadian line offshore. This third location would work in September with nets set at the thermocline. If you want numbers, at night year 1 salmon will line up nose to tail at 50' off the Niagara Bar. Weird phenomenon with the 50' depth but it may represent the depth they sleep and are neutrally buoyant in their inactivity. The Huron tagging study by Bergstedt also spoke about kings sleeping at 50'.
