  12. Downspeed is "speed at the downrigger ball" measured using a unit such as a Subtroll, Depthraider, Fishhawk etc. GPS speed is speed over ground which is very useful, but usually differs from downspeed due to currents. Make a note as to what gps speed and direction you are catching fish so you can duplicate it. Keep an eye on the angle of your rigger cables and bend in dipsey rods as these are a good indicator if there are down currents. Shawn [ Post made via Mobile Device ] [ Post made via Mobile Device ]

  16. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):9/1 Time on Water:5:30pm - 8:30pm Weather/Temp:70's Wind Speed/Direction:WNW 5-10 Waves: 1-2' Surface Temp: 69 Location:out in front LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 4 Total Boated:2 Species Breakdown:1 Coho & 1 King Hot Lure: Crazy B SD and ATomik Fly Trolling Speed: ? Down Speed: ? Boat Depth: 70 - 140 Lure Depth: 55-110 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS Headed out with a friend from work on his boat and set up in 70fow NE of port trolling NW. First fish (3-4lb Coho) came on a mag watermelon NK down 90 over 110. Next to fire was a wire dipsey out 280 with a Mt Dew Spinny and Hammer fly over 140fow. Dropped it after 5min or so . Nothing for a while so turned and headed back SE and the other wire rod out 240 pulling a Crazy B spinny and fly combo goes hard. Dropped that one (good fish) after 10 min or so A short while later same Crazy B rig fires in 130fow and after a long battle we managed to land a nice 25+lb king after it crossed each rigger line and wire separately Shawn ====================
  17. FishingReport: Fish FX ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):8/31 Time on Water:7:00-8:00 Weather/Temp:Sunny Wind Speed/Direction:W/NW 5mph Waves: 1' Surface Temp: Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 1 Total Boated:1 Species Breakdown:king Hot Lure: Stinger gator Trolling Speed: 3.1 sog Down Speed: 2.2 Boat Depth: 160 Lure Depth: 90 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS Took my twin daughters out for a quick troll with me and Dad. Started East of Port at the Ladders in 80fow and had 62 degrees down 60 and 57 at 90. A few marks here and there until 140' when the 90' rigger fires with a Mag Gator spoon. Lauren calls out "that's my side and my fish" so I handed her the rod and explained what to do. After awhile she was struggling and allowed her sister to take over reeling for a few minutes. Then the fish surfaced about 70' away and Lauren of course wanted to take over again. She did a great job getting the fish to the net - she was laughing so hard at the fish as it was just swimming along side the boat trying to pass us. It was priceless watching and listening to them and wish I had the video camera going. Got the fish in the boat and it weighed 15.3lbs. We snapped a few pics and then noticed the temp gauge rising so we pulled lines and headed in. Nice night to be out there, just wish we had more time. Hopefully will be able post a pic or two tomorrow. Shawn ====================
