Just did stringers and a transom in an 89 Pro Hunter that had a Crusader 454, my 26 open also had a Crusader, my 29 has mercs, most Penn Yans I ve worked on that had Chryslers were of the 70s vintage, That being said, not a damn thing wrong with a Chrysler inboard, BUT, if it happens to be a 318, its severley underpowered, if its a 360, its marginal at best, The 26s really need a big block in my opinion

Never installed Simpson Lawrence Sprint 400 vertcal windlass, Rated for boats up tp 29 feet. Simpson Lawrence was bought by Lewmar and parts are easily available, Was going to install on my 29 Penn Yan, but, Im going to a horizontal unit due to a shallow anchor locker, Sale includes 25 feet of red and black 8 awg tinned marine wire, reversing solenoid, 50 amp breaker, up/ down dash switch, 2 feet each of red and black shrink tube, 8 tinned 5/16 lugs. 4 tinned 3/8 lugs, owner/installation manual, all the wiring parts are new in the last 2 weeks, the windlass has some scratches due to sitting around a few years , but is never used, 100 % new, all you need to install is 3 5/16 - 18 studs and nuts according to your mounting location, and some 14 awg tinned wire to run from the dash switch to the reversing solenoid Windlass uses 1/2 in 3 strand medium lay rope and 1/4 inch g-4 chain $500

New Prestolite Electronic Marine Distributor for sb or bb GM motors, bought new last year as a spare, includes a new internally resisted coil for electronic ignition, This will fit either rotation motor , a great way to get rid of points and condensor, easy starts, no stalling when cold, you wont believe the difference if you change over to electronic $225 email pennyan26@yahoo.com

Check out the prices thru a local Honda OB dealer, they used to be the same as the Teleflex TFXTREME, but were priced lower thru Honda than thru Teleflex, they are all Ive ever used on inboard installations and they are silky smooth, I havent bought any for a few years, so hopefully they are still the same

Billy, this is Penn Yan #2 for me, I had the 26 on here that sold back in November, the 26s tend to run the water to the front too, I added 350lbs of ballast to my 26 to make it sit level at rest, If this boat sits bow down it will get the same treatment, on my 26 ride and handling improved big time especially in a following sea, after the addition of the ballast, TJ Amato told a few friends of mine to ballast these 28s upwards of 1000lbs at the outboard stringers to improve ride and handling, Ill add 300lbs at a time till I get the resting and running attitude Im looking for

The boat is a 1987, no trailer, but Im going to build a yard trailer before it gets splashed, the boat was repowered with about 700 hours on the motors now. I looked at it last fall and was impressed with the condition for its age , now for the BIG question____________________________26 under 40k

Finally found a Penn Yan 288 Predator in my price range, the seller took almost 30 % less than the asking price, cant wait to get it set up and fishing the waters of Lake Erie, There are some damn good buys on boats at this time if your not in a hurry and do lots of looking
