  1. The Lewiston launch is now finished, it opened Monday morning. Just a heads up for anyone thinking of launching at the fort, the water is terrible low. I have never seen the water this low before. If we don't get some rain soon, it won't be long before those launches will be useless.
  2. I take my wife fishing with me so I can run more lines. I asked a DEC officer if I paid for a fishing license for my dog if I would be able to run two more. Both love being on the boat with me so why not take advantage of a good situation. Ray have you gotten a "valid" birth certificate for your inflatable friend yet?
  3. What is the beam of the boat?
  4. HB, What if you are a good fisherman and know where the fish are and what they are eating. Isn't it a logical conclusion that you would catch more fish with fifty lines in the "zone" versus one? Just a thought. Stinger thanks for the reminder, I fish Niagara quite a bit and have been meaning to purchase an inflatable, I better get around to it. We have a pretty good CC presences and I'm not sure who is going to enforce it.
  5. How many invasive species can WNY support? Who's ready for a pig roast? I read today on WGRZ's website that the DEC is encouraging hunters to shoot the pigs. Maybe a reward system might be a good idea? I'll start, first dead pig receives a free bottle of BBQ sauce!
  6. Has anyone tried the Yozuri Snap Peas in the tribs? I heard of someone using them on the Genny down by PA for browns and rainbows. I imagine they would work up here.
  7. Fished Artpark on 10/25, Water below the plant was brown. Above the plant slightly greener. Hooked three fish landed one big laker. I didn't catch any steel, but I did see two small ones landed on shore. I'll be back out in a few weeks.
  8. It might be cheaper to see if you could have the crack pinned.
  9. Another point to think about is how the base is mounted to the boat. Are the riggers mounted to a board or directly to the boat?
  10. I just got off the phone, a friend told me that they started catching some steelhead up in devil's hole. Hopefully, I will make it out Sunday.
  11. Just to let all of the steelheaders know, the Lewiston Launch will be closing sometime this winter for repairs. I do not know the date yet, but as soon as I do I'll let you know. I hate running from Youngstown, to Artpark, in January but it beats staying home.
  12. http://www.iboats.com/Bayliner__1910_Tr ... /64b8204r2 They say 1900 dry without the motor. 200-300 more for the engine. My guess 2155.
  13. Nice point. Thanks again.
  14. Landshark, help me out what's your thought?
  15. Thanks again guys. Looks like I will have to get out the checkbook. Ray- the $75 was for the rod and line counter reel. Totally agree with you, see it all the time people buying the "best" or most expensive before they have a clue what they are doing.
  16. It's pretty dark right now.
  17. Just looking around and found a combo at Bass Pro (I know, I know), ADP17LC and 2Pc. 7'6" or 8' Diawa Accudepth rod for $75. I usually support the local guys, you think this is something that they might be able to order? I don't ever remember seeing ML trolling rods at any of the place on the west end of the lake. Also, anyone use the Accudepth rods? I know there has been some debate about the Accudepth reels but I don't think this will be much of an issue with browns and walleye. Especially because I "target" the eaters (B.S.)! Thanks Again. Landshark- from the pictures if I ever make it to the BOQ, I'll just bring the salmon rods!
  18. You guys wouldn't happen to have a model #. I just checked out the Diawa site and couldn't find either the Heartland ML 7'6" or ML 8'. I saw the Wilderness Series, are these any good?
  19. Thanks a lot guys. I'll probably order them this week. Reeling in 3 and 4 lb. browns on 20 lb test and salmon rods just wasn't that fun. I think the 17s will go pretty nicely with them, thanks for the input.
  20. I am looking at buying two new rods for trolling for brown trout in the spring and will probably use the same rods for walleye fishing on Lake Erie. I don't know if anyone has ever used these rods before, if you have what do you think? Right now I have two DR862M and I am torn between buying two more of these or going with the kokanees. Thanks guys.
  21. We go to a place called Horse Shoe Island Camp every year. It is not a fly in but they have boats and there are lots of pike. We usually fish for walleye but there is always someone that wants to fish pike for a few hours. Our biggest was just over 40", and it is not uncommon to catch 5 or 6 20-30" fish per bay. There is a lot of water and not a lot of pressure. I believe they also have lake trout but I have never targeted them. Good Luck
  22. Tomorrow, Sept. 18th, there will be a groundbreaking ceremony at 10:30 am for the renovations at the hatchery. Thought some of you might be interested.
  23. Now that's the way it should be worked out!! no name calling, no rude finger jesters, no flare guns. NO reason to waste these on fellow fisherman when there are so man sailboats around. I will find a video on Youtube of a flare being sent into a sail and post it on here. If I don't, I would like someone to make this next years summer project.
  24. I think you had more fun than I did!
  25. Shade the 3 F club in Lewiston NY has over 300 acres and it only cost $100 to join. I was out there earlier today and can't wait for bow season. Let me know if you want more info.
