  2. Savants are being carried by Fat Nancy's in Oswego and Slippery Sinker in Olcott. You would be the only shop at the Oak. Shade

  4. I hear ya Tim.....sad day on LOU MIAMI FAN.... Shade
  5. yankee, www.cannondownriggers.com click on Products, then Speed -N- Temp. It is called Intellitroll SNT. I sent an email to them and they informed me that the probe will not interface with anyother unit. The cost of this SNT is $549.99. I wrote back and told them how dis-satisfied I was with the other unit that they never was able to run reliable enough and that they could not find a way to make the new probe interface with the crappy one. I also said I would never purchase a connon product again. I'll stick with Scotty downriggers and Fish Hawk SNT. Shade
  6. King, No sense of beating a dead horse here but just here me out. What muskybob is saying is if you fish on a Saturday it is already costing you gas, ice, maybe a lunch or snacks. The difference between that and the tournament is the entry fee. The Pro/Am isn't about catching kings, its about catching 9 fish. Each fish is 10 points and each pound is 1 point. You can catch 9 browns and be competitive. Here is an idea. Why don't you volunteer to be an Observer. Most cases the Pros pay about $100 and the Ams pay $75 but the most important thing is you get to see what the Pro/Am is all about. Just contact the tournament commiittee in your area or post it on the LOU site that you want to be an Observer. I think the Sodus is sometime in mid July. OPTION #2 - You have about 28 weeks to save the money to enter the Pro/Am as well as get a team together which comes to about $10/week. This is not personal. I do not know your finacial situation. If you do not want to put your own team together again post your interest to fish the Pro/Am in your area at the marina and on LOU and you may fish with others that may need a team member. Shade
  7. Kingsalmon, Keep one thing in mind and I am not trying to persuade you in any way. If you paid a Charter $500.00 you want fish in the boat and most of them will be just legal or teenagers. Youn have just as much a chance of putting a 20# king in your boat as that charter. The Charters goal is to limit that client out with fish and if he lands a 20# thats just a bonus. I agree with legacy. If you want to compete with just amatures and not charters (Pros) enter the Pro/Am. It will be fun and competitive. Check out the website, read the rules and decide if ya wanna give it a shot. You will not regret it. Shade
  8. To attach copper or leadcore to planner boards you should use a rubber band. Hook your release to the planner line, then loop the rubber band on the copper or lead and place the other end of rubber band on the release as you would mono. When the fish hits it will break the rubber band. Shade
  9. Thanks Cpt. Vince. See ya in Olcott. Howie
  10. Capt. Vince, Tip #1 - I came back to Ontario 3 years ago after a 20 year layoff. I am also out of Olcott (B12) and I ahve cought Salmon, Lakers and Rainbow but for the life of me I can not catch a Brown. Help... Tom B..you can throw your $.02 in with a few tips as well. Howie
  11. Welcome Capt. Vince. We finally get some advice and direction from the legend I have been hearing about. Howie
  12. I also would like to thank you Chris. With your involement with the $1000/day derby I am sure it will run smooth and be a successful event for the anglers on Ontario. Dave, thank you,the LOC is a great event and with the addition of the $1200/day addition makes it that more intising. I applaud the on going work by the Pro/Am committee to improve and draw more teams which will make 2010 an exciting and fun season. We all need to thank all of the hard work and dedication all the committees in there respected events not only for the upcoming challenges on the lake but the impact these events will have on the community during these finacial hard times. I am confident that the committees will eventually work together so these events will continue to grow and be successful. Howie
  13. I have to agree with Jeff. What you,Dave and Chris and all the other leaders in the events do for the fishing in Ontario is to be commended. But lately to many responses or opinions are being directed to individuals by indiviuals in a way that I do not think this site was intended. I should not be sticking my nose where it does not belong but I love this site for its integrety and what it was designed for. There are great fishermen who are willing to share secrets, experience, successes as well as falures. There is a lot of humer. Every member has a PM and any responses that are personal should be sent via PM. It will prevent from having rebuddles that most of us do not want to read. There is nothing wrong if we do not agree all the time but lets not allow our opinions to stir up bad feelings. I appreciate all who go the extra mile to promote Lake Ontario and the surrounding communities. I will shut up before I get in trouble. Have a quality day... and a beer Howie
  14. Thanks Maverick..I am sure this event will be successful. I know all 5 of us are entering. Howie
  15. I am looking to purchase an Autopikot and I am asking for some recommendations. Thanks, Shade
  16. I would like to see finalized rules before I enter on Feb 1st. It would be nice to know what minimum size that can be weighed. I am also under the impression that this is basically going to be Kings unless it is broken down into catagories. I fish the western end and mature fish are far a few between until fall. I am going to assume, bad word to use, that for example if the minimum weight for king is not caught then the minimum trout weight (or higher) will become eligable. Shade
  17. I am in as well...Boat name to follow, we are going to purchase a new ride before spring. Now please do not beat me to bad but I just want to get some clarification: 1) The Spring, Summer and Fall LOC Derby's will remain in tact with same entry fees and rules, Correct? 2) The $1200/day event is in addition to the Spring, Summer and Fall Derby's , Correct? 3) As a non Captain my entry fee for my boat is $300.00 which covers the $25 weigh in fee, Correct? 4) This event has nothing to do with the $1000/day event that was announced last night, Correct? I appologize for the questions but I want to be sure what I am reading. Shade
  18. How is the registration structured? Pay by individual or by Boat? How much is entry fee? Shade
  19. Black shrink wrap Shade
  20. Last years LOC went from May 1st - May 10th. I agree if the lake does not freeze the Salmon fishing should be better but the lake was frozen last year. The problem will be if the lake does freeze late the boom does not come out until there is under 200 sq. miles of ice. Usually the Boom is removed by 2nd week in April. If it comes out later it will put a damper on fishing. Shade
  21. I never used a grease trap and I see how darkfisher sets up. Is this how it is used or are there different set ups? Do they work on Lake "O"? Shade
  22. Thanks Tom
  23. Just wondering if the video from the Pro/Am that was posted on here a while back is still available to watch. I recall it being removed because it had not been released or edited by the Sports Channel. I missed it on Sunday just wanted to see it. Thanks, Shade
