  1. Most fishermen run slider lines instead of 2 poles on a downrigger. Puts the same amount of spoons out using less poles. Shade

  3. The first place you want to start is www.attheoak.com. Go through the topics and fish reports this will give you an idea of where to start, types of lures, flies, line, reels, poles. Then go through this sites fishings reports. Then read through the headings like Open Lake Discussion and you will see topics like hot lures, favorite flashers, ect. There are topics on how speed, leader lengths and just about everything pertaining to Lake "O" fishing. Once you've don that ask questions for better understanding on topics. This spring you may want to start out on a charter either out of Wilson or Olcott for the best help you will find. Paul from Free Spirit does a seminar on his boat. Good Luck, Shade
  4. Just looking for some help on making up some of my own trolling flies. I need to know where outside of A-TOM-MIC I can purchase skirts, beeds, hooks and whatever else I need to make up some flies. I never did this before so I will also need some type of directions or guide on "How To". Any help will be grately appreciated. Shade
  5. You are doing a fine job as always Chad.... Shade
  6. I understand, I am not a Doe hunter, that you can transfer your permit or permits to any hunter just by signing the back of the permit. If this is true than why not your buck tag? Our young hunters use doe tags to help them get their first deer and even at that we make sure that they are with an adult to assure they shoot mature deer not yearlings or button bucks. This is only done when we need maintain our buck to doe ratio. I think our doe structure is rediculous anyway. Shade
  7. That felt good... Shade
  8. I for one will sit back here and wait to see how this gets structured as far as rules and entry fees and especially how and when there will be payouts. A $1000/day is a lot of money and money tends to bring the worst out of people at times. I just hope that this derby does not hurt the support that this website offers to inexperienced and struggling fishermen when they ask for guidance. I know that I personnaly owe a load of thanks to the fishermen on this site who have helped us get more consistance in boating fish on a daily bases. Usually during the LOC and Tournaments things quiet down a little which is understandable. Just thinking outloud.......... Howie
  9. Chill Bigeasy...you need to wory more about the things you can make a difference in this country than worrying about wether or not you can fish next week or not. The carp problem is in the hands of the envioromentalist now and there is nothing we can do at this point. When the time comes when we need to step up i am sure we will do what needs to be done but right now we can only sit back and see what is being done. Shade
  10. Outstanding Rick, We continue to keep your family in our prayers until is back in the boat by your side .... Howie
  11. Longline, Think about it ..no lures, no poles, no flies. no flashers, downriggers, outriggers....jump in the boat to the box to the weight in....Home for breakfast. And the perfect crime...in law that pi...es you off. Have them stand in boat while you are under the canvass...wham..fish wakes em, overboard ....see ya Seriously..I have been following this problem for a while and it is getting worse. This could destroy fishing as we know it. Shade
  12. Can we add them to the box in the Pro/Am... Shade
  13. Tom seems to be knowledgable with the possible negative effects these turbines may have, however we need to prove that this negativity is certain. There are turbines right know running along Lake Erie from Hamburg beach to the South Gap and I have ,to my knowledge, not heard any negative problems from either the Charters who work this area or the local fishermen. This does not mean I agree with turbines but if nothing negative is coming from Erie what support do we have in Ontario? We need to see what problems are coming from Erie. Shade
  14. The question is WHY the increase? I was under the assumption that the Derby was 100% payout depending on entrants. If I am wrong than I appologize but if i am not than the increase should show up in the payout. Please explane. Shade
  15. Well there's something to look forward to for a retired guy like me. Shade
  16. Outstanding news Rick............... Howie
  17. Stan, We may disagree on certain posts that are put up. But when push comes to shove and the chips are down, where else can you find a finer bunch of professional sportmen to help you then Right Here? Howie

  22. My family and I will pray for a fast and healthy recovery. Howie
  23. I do not know where most of you guys are hunting but in Allegany County the weather has not cooperated and the foilage is still thick. We are seeing some nice pics on our trail cameras and some nice rub lines especially by my stand. We have seen some young bucks couple of 4 points,2 nice 6 points (still to young) and 2 spikes but we have pics of 2 real nice mature bucks one especilly is an 8 point around 140". We will see how the season progresses. Shade
  24. Mine would be reading all the post and realizing that I am not the only one who looses weights, gear and fish. Just being blessed to be apart of this site where you can agree and disagree but most of all the support and tactics from some of the most experienced sportsmen I have the pleasure of talking to. I would like to say THANKS TO ALL. Hope we can continue sharing stories and tactics. Howie
  25. Happy B-Day Rob...........Hope to see on the water next year..........We need to get together for a fishing day and this time we will reel in the fish while you relax..... Howie
