Jarrett, I do not know where I reffered to or used the word people so I can not answer your question. Howie

Jerrett and Gonefishin, Jarrett - where are you staying while in Olcott? I will be in Olcott either at 7am or not until 12:30pm. My son can not get out of work until 11:30 and we plan to go out as soon as he gets to the marina. My Boat is at B dock Slip 17. Can not miss here I am between 2 sailboats almost at the end of the dock on right side. I have to gas up before I head out. Gonefishin - you are staying at Point Breeze but fishing out of Olcott? What time will you be in Olcott? If you fish Point Breeze the "LEDGE" is 5.5 miles east of the Harbor (11W), however reports are showing a lot of action between 24N and 27N. Start off with Green. If you go out before I get there, when you break out of Harbor to the east you will see a smoke stack, between the stacks and the harbor you will see a couple of towers on the shore those are called the Microwave Towers. At the marina slightly to the west is a Water Tower. To the west of the Water Tower about 3 - 4 miles on shore you will see a red building which is called the Red Barn. Start out in about 70' and either troll east to west or NE to SW staying inside 250' and work between the Red Barn and the Micrwaves. When I get there I will head NE to about 70' and I will troll NE to about 220 and then back SW to about 150 and the NW and so on depending on what my graph tells me and down water temp. I also run between 2.2 and 2.7 again depending on water coditions which so far is suppose to be SSW wind around 8mph. This has been working fo us the last 3 trips so thats where I will start. I will be on channel 68 and I will have my cell - 716-704-9242 or 716-440-1239. See ya Friday. Howie

Shade replied to Trap Jaw's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
TJ, Give me an email address and I will send you some research results I have on spoons, flies and flashers that have been productive in Olcott. I have my boat docked there. Let me know when you will be coming to Olcott and we can hook up. Shade -

Stan, Ray will be OK he is very knowledgable on the lake. I think he fishes primarily out of Oak Orchard, lots of Charters at the Oak. He probably misses his buddy Musky.... Shade -

Nice job Tim, I was trying to get you on the radio yesterday on 68. We were in the same area but we got out later than you. We could only fish for a couple of hourd anyway. Darn family get togethers. Maybe we will catch up next week end. Shade -
We also practice C&R but sometimes they just will not survive so we keep those and we do eat what we keep. We have a friend who smokes the Salmon and we do the trout on the grill. When you see reports from Charters in most cases they keep what they catch because thats what their clients pay for. Derbys' is a whole other story. Shade

Another Fine day on BANANAS. We started out ar 0630 ran straight out to 100 fow set up and headed NW toward the Micro Tower. At 150' wire fired, back 240 with Green/Green SD/ ATM Altra Glow landed a 12# King (released), continued NW and at 180 fow middle rigger fired, White Echip/ATM Seaweed, landed BOW. Got to 215 fow wire fired, 270 back wht/wht SD/ATM Hammer landed 18# King. We worked the water NE to SW from 230 - 150 with steady hit after hit. Every fire was on flies NOT ONE SPOON. The 25# king came off corner rigger, 75 down on a SD/Bloodynose Fly after we changed everything to flies, Wonderbread, Hammer, Bloody Nose, Altra Green Glow/Echips and SD's. Fished from 6:30 - 10:00 and we had to head in for a family gathering. Lot of boats out today and some fine fish at cleaning station. Shade

Shawn, Read fish reports "Lake Ontario South Shore", it will tell you, spoons choice ,Spin Doctors colors, flies, water depth and speed. Also under Tackle Techniqe there is a post on "if you had 2 spoons what would they be", check it out. NK28, Stinger and Super Slim spoons are prefered choice in most cases. This web site has an abundance of information, just go through the titles and somewhere your questions will be answered. Shade

Where can you purchase whole Alwife Baits? Shade

Jason and CB, Talk about different ends of a spectrum, can not wait to see what the rest of the site says about spoons lengths and flasher lengths off the ball. Your window is anywhere from 8' to 50' with spoons and 5' to 20' with flashers. Quit the spread. I am no expert or trying to stir anything just want to see what the rest of the site runs. I run 10' with spoons, in the summer 25 - 30' in spring, and 5' with SD's. This may answer some questions... Shade

Custom fish weights.
Shade replied to ray koziatek's topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
Ray, I want 2 of the 12 lbs. when you make them but I want them without paint or eyes. Let me know when you get a couple complete and give me cost. Howie -
Thanks Tom. I want 2 black faced sharks. I saw some torpedo's on your web site but not the sharks. Send me a PM with cost of Sharks and shipping cost, or where can I pick them up to save shipping cost? Also let me know cost of the new Torpedo's. Thanks, Howie

Questions: 1) Where can I get a couple of 15lbs. locally, I am out of Olcott? 2) What style should I get (Black, Bl. Silver, Silver or Gold)? 3) I read where they do not recommend to run flashers with them, True? 4) I also read that it is recommended to run spoons 20 - 30' back of shark, True? I am asking for your comments, opinions and any recommendations before I spend $200 on weights. Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks, Howie

True trolling Depth?
Shade replied to FT's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Sorry I tried to put it in content but it will not let me. If anyone wants to see this in scale give me an email address. I tried to post it but it will not post like a picture. If anyone knows how to post an excell sheet forward info to me and I will try again. What it tells you is if your cable is 30 degrees from the back of you boat you need to have 58' of cable out. So with 58' of cable out your ball is 50' down and 29' from the back of the boat. This is based on 2.5 mph/ 10lb ball and spoon 15' off the ball. Something I found on the internet and I think it was from the Oak. Shade -
