  1. Jason, Thanks for your honesty and very detailed report. You have a PM -Chris
  2. BTW - I'm not sure if you guys/gals saw it or not, but there was a 50-60' tree with branches and all sticking out about 10' out of the water floating in about 20' of water heading east on Saturday. There were some seagulls landed on it and everything and it was the biggest thing I've ever seen floating in the lake. Be careful out there, Chris
  3. WTG! I'm glad you got into some nice fish. Thanks for sharing some great details in your post. It's very helpful to all of us I-Bay guys/gals. Good luck and be safe, Chris
  4. I **** the bed yesterday - we had a bad day with only one fish east of I-Bay, but it looks like you guys certainly made up for it today for sure!!! Do you think the action will get a little deeper next weekend or do you think it'll still be a shoreline bite? WTG my friend, Chris
  5. WTG Matt - you guys crushed them today!!! Thanks for the great report - Chris
  6. WTG - I think we saw you in close. Great job - you did much better than us. I'm glad that there were fish in there and I'm glad you had a great bite! Stay in touch, Chris
  7. No problem gentlemen - I'd go west if I were you. In hindsight, I would have fished west of the river, but I didn't want to run 30 minutes through all the debris coming out of the Genny in the dark. Good luck guys, Chris
  8. We fished from 6 AM til 10:30, east of the Bay and we fished from 12 fow to 60 fow. We tried to stay in the greener, warmer water rather than the muddy stuff but all we managed was one 16" Chinook. I fished 8 rods - two riggers with spoons, the rest off the boards (multiple stick baits, keel weighted spoons) and our only fish was caught on a J-9 black/white rapalla. Water temp fluctuated between 46-47 degrees, but outside of the mudline around 60' it was ice cold 43 degrees on the surface. I tried the deeper water for lake trout after marking some fish on the bottom in 60 fow just east of Shipbuilders but I could not get these fish to bite, even with cowbells and a thumper rod. I think you always have to post the good with the bad. The water looked great in the beginning but obviously we did something wrong as we had very little action. Good luck to all today - I wanted to get in an early post in case it may help some folks who venture out this afternoon. - Chris
  9. Update - it's all good on Youtube, but I can't view it on my phone either (restricted UMG - whatever that means). Sorry you can't view it from the link on an I-phone update - the reason it cannot be viewed from an I-phone or TV is b/c of the music in the video. They consider it copyright infringement if it were to be shared on a mobile device... Disclaimer: My video is for educational purposes only
  10. Get the video season started - fishing with my great buddy Anthony 5/10/14. Set to a little Mumford and Sons....... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sU0a97ja7rA&feature=youtu.be Good luck to all, Chris
  11. Brother Matt, You are another classy charter captain who is always willing to share reports and detailed information in your reports. I have always appreciated your great reports and honesty! I hope you have a great and safe year on the water - stay in touch, Chris
  12. As always Rick - I appreciate your great reports and honesty every week. Also, you are one of only a few who are willing to post intimate fishing details to help us all. Glad to hear the SSW is already crushing this year! Tight lines - good luck this year, Chris
  13. Nice report - thanks for sharing. I'm glad you got your rod back! Good luck this year, Chris
  14. Great report. I always wondered what would happen if a fish hit when I was making the twist loop around my finger before putting the line in the release and you just answered that! I'm glad your finger is ok. Good luck this year - tight lines, Chris.
  15. Coles, As we talked on the phone, it sounds like you are having a voltage drop which is causing the unit to "auto shut down" since the current goes up to make up for the voltage drop (P=I*V) power=voltage*current. Look at the following: 1.) Bad battery which can't maintain proper voltage when under load when running your motor (although a symptom of this is usually your electronics shut off when you try and start the engine) 2.) Too small of gauge of wire when you installed the unit 3.) Non-resistor plugs - try changing to resistor plugs as Fishhawk recommends. 4.) Bad wire connections on your battery switch or batteries 5.) Check the flux capacitor Nelce, Moe
  16. I used a yellow dodger with a lime green spin-n-glow on a wire thumper rod on Wednesday and caught a laker within about 5 minutes of sending it down. I was impressed to say the least. Chris
  17. WTG - great Chinook. They are loaded with piss and vinegar this time of year and a riot to catch on light line. Thanks for sharing - good luck, Chris
  18. Fished with my great buddy Anthony (Pike Hunter) this morning from 6 AM til about 11AM, and we had a great day on the water boating 11 fish - and a first for my boat: boating five different species (steelhead, Chinook, coho, brown trout and a laker). We fished like we were eating corn on the cob, in a back and forth motion in front of Shipbuilders, just like all the other boats were also doing. We fished two riggers with spoons and four lines of the boards. Early in the morning, we ran all stick baits off the boards, but later on we switched out two sticks for 5/8 ounce keel weights with Red spoons. The following all caught fish today: DW Regular caramel dolphin DW SS Raspberry dolphin keel weight with DW Regular Steelie Stomper Firetiger J-9 Rapala Chatreuse J-9 Rapala Black/Silver J-9 Rapala Seemed like the bright colors worked best today, other than the black/silver stick bait. Overall, it was a great day with great action, calm seas and great weather. I will also add some video later on. Good luck to all and be safe out there, Chris
  19. Hey Jason, That's a good one - thank the good Lord that I didn't encounter any buoys yet. Be safe and keep in touch, Chris
  20. Thanks bud, Still have the yellow Trophy. Good luck this year - I will let Anthony know you said Hi. - Chris
  21. Fished for the first time this year - solo from 6:30 AM til about 10 AM. Fished east of the bay where the armada was sitting, although I fished the edges of the pack anywhere from 20-50 fow. First rip came ten minutes into my trip in the warmer water in front of the I-Bay area - rigger down 10', DW NBK pattern and low and behold a 20#12 ounce king to start the year!! Initially I thought it was a lake trout, but after seeing some silver flash and a few "holy f--k it's a king...." lines later, it was landed solo. After that, things slowed down until I abandoned my surface sticks and went with the riggers and a thumper rod to target lake trout. I landed 4 more fish after that - all lake trout. Lakers were caught on Cowbells pulling orange/chartreuse Spin-n-Glows and peanuts and special thanks to Paul Czarnecki and his advice in the off season to try a yellow dodger/green spin-n-glow, as that's what I used on the thumper rod and it caught one laker. Great day to be out. Tomorrow will be round two with my good buddy Anthony. Good luck to all this year - may you all be blessed with safe waters and great fishing, Chris
  22. WTG Paprman! Even more special is you did it solo. Be safe and thanks for sharing, Chris
