  1. I use a double palmier knot to a 35# spro swivel and a crimp with shrink wrap tubing for the wire.
  2. Read a post last week that herring strips will be available this year, not sure when?? Not sure where ?? But I hope they have lots !!!
  3. I have a Scottie pinch pad fastened to my rod holders , I run my drags loose, so it's a constant ( but slow ) creep out, then attach my pinch pad to stop the creep when a king rails it the drag is free enough that he can't break off. As mentioned before run them out to desired depth by loosing drags so it's a constant speed, but slower than boat speed . I also have 20 of 65 lb. braid on the end of my wire, this helps to manage bird nests while rods are being broke down for storage .
  4. This time of yr. if there not along the west shore inside the harbor try the high rocks heading towards Stoney point light house, if it's too rough on that side shoot across to the island. 6-12 FOW 2.2 mph stinger spoons , Chartuse alewife, golden perch , fat Nancy's wiggle , black wiggle will keep you catching !!!!
  5. Ruff Ryder , set you an Email, not sure if you received it, no response , has been two weeks ???
  6. Everyone is catching browns. Wilson-Henderson, the south shore of lady O is the place to be ....... LOVE it !!!!!!
  7. Lot 4 --is the middle spoon a chartuse alewife ?? Silver cup ???
  8. I wondering if it was the same boat that came out of the chute, set down inside of us and put boards out . We were running the 8 ft. Contour at that time , thought maybe a charter captain would run ahead or circle behind before setting up ??? Oh well we still pounded up on them even after moving out and slowing down for awhile.
  9. No pics. This trip , absolute mad house on the back deck!!!
  10. Had another great day fishing out of Hugh's. Launched at 6:30 am. Lines in the water by 6:45 :) Headed west, hit our first fish putting our third rod out , that was the way it was for first 2 hours, all cookie cutter browns. Ran stingers , chartuse alewife, golden perch, mixed veggie. Ran Bay Rats in the mix, very few fish came on the rats in the morning. Sun came out and mud line disappeared ( on shore breeze ?????) this is when the Bay rats started to take most of the fish. It was like turning on a light switch. I have never seen such a sudden change before. Speed was 1.8-2.4 at the ball temp. Was 39.8 , surface temp. 4.0-42.2 . Largest fish was a 9 lb. hen .
  11. Pretty flat 6" rollers two in the box
  12. Will be leaving for Hugh's in 30 min. Will post what we find out there!!
  13. I stagger my first set , 140 back. Furthest out , 120 out then 100 out, what ever rod takes the first fish, every thing on that side goes to that set back. This works well for me . A rod goes the other 2 or 3 get run down the line to fill in the slot that just took the fish. BUT ...... There are days when every other fish will tangle in another line, I not sure if they charge the boat, there's a heavy current, or there just real spunky that day but it does happen a couple times a year. I normally run a split shot just above the swivel that connects my floro to main line. Heading up Sat. Will let you know how we do !!
  14. Talked to a fellow fisherman on Wed. They crushed the Muskies last Sat. Had 2 that were 47" , they also caught 4 other ones that were around 30" . Big buck tails casting from a boat . The eagles should eat well !!!
  15. Heated garage
  16. That's why I trailer, in, out, back to the barn. Heading up Sat. Am. To Hugh's before they start the dredging project. If you launch at Hugh's marina be aware that this is gonna happen first week in April .
  17. Last week it was a spoon bite for us , stinger chartuse alewife and golden perch took most of the fish, a few came on Jr. Tsticks and a few on bay rats, super clear water = natural colors.

  20. Can't make it mon. Have to work, I'm free all day tues. ????
  21. I run 12# big game (green) on my board rods, leader down to 8# floro for the inside/shallow browns. There are lots of fish hanging in the gin clear water and I want my best presentation for them while I'm looking for the colored water. Rigger rods are 35# big game leadered down to 20 floro for flasher/fly and down to 10# for the stacker/spoon rods . Wire rods have 30# floro that acts like a shock absorber . Works for me ?
