Normally I don't run the riggers when I'm in that tight, but I always have two corner " weight" rods running along side of the prop wash. The biggest fish of the day always come off these rods. Normal set is two flat lines 100-125 back with 1/4 oz split shot both sides ( big boards) the the two "weight" rods with 1/2-3/4 oz inlines. 40-50 ft. Back. I use SOG to set the speed, no need to run the prob due to the lack of changing currents.
Dipsy to a three way swivel , short lead off three way diving stick bait, long lead off three way floating stick bait, works off leadcore... Think, think, think....
It's my opinion that you get what you pay for, I first went with 100.00 reels ended up giving them away, drags were terrible after the first 750 ft. Screaming king run. I have been running Shimano for the last 10+ years, none have began to jump/ grab and I use them hard. So my advice would be to by the best you possibly can even if it's only one for this season. You will not be sorry ! Remember to back off your drags when there not in the water this goes for what ever kind you purchase .
Go out the chute, turn left or right, set up in 7-10 fow , run stinger spoons at 2.8 sog . Don't forget the weight rods running next to prop wash . Been waiting for April since last June!!!!!
Justin, thanks for the great post ! Let us know when you get a date for the walleye derby. Also there was some talk about a kids derby on Cayuga hopefully this will come together. Depending on the date I may need to borrow you and your boy to enter!!!!
