  1. i've dropped two probes this year, one on the fish hawk and one on the depth raider. if i were to buy another speed and temp unit it would be the depth raider because of the replacement cost. both units work about the same but the fish hawk factory settings were WAY off from the actual speed readings!!! i have found it best to set your speed by watching your cables and rod tips, then run at the down speed that your probe is telling you. Temp. is what i focus on first due to currents at different depths. as far as the most important piece of electronics on the boat it's a tough call but the fish(depth) finder is my choice due to the amount of time spent on the finger lakes, 15 ft. one way or the other will change your depth by 20-60 feet. gps is great to give you a heads up for changing depths but some portions of the navtronic maps are not real accurate, auto pilot is almost a must when fishing alone and very nice when you need to net fish or you have doubles on.BUT........ to really enjoy your fishing take grandpas row boat out and flat line !!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. the cotton wood crap has been responcible for many a broken rod tip, 3 on the blue bubble alone!!
  3. did all the paint fall off the shrimp or was it missing before the steelie hit it!! love there patterns but the paint S(-)KS!!!
  4. the mexican govt. wants to unload it's dirtbags, canadian govt. wants our dollars and we the american people need both countries OIL. the border will remain as is untill our govt. allows we the people to use ALL our god given resorces (offshore oil, coal deposits, natural gas) my motto "walk softly and carry a BIG stick" me the little guy can't do anything about the corruption in big govt. they are all in it for the power does't matter what party or for that matter what nation, it's all about the power!!!

  16. to the gentilmen that we tangled up your inline planner lines. very sorry for this !! anyway here's the report. went out of clute, west side, heading north.couldn't get a rod to move untill we passed the salt plant and slid out to 320'. wires were out 270/280 with white/green dot spinny and big weenie fly.several double came of this presentation. filled or limit with six of the biggest (4-6 lbs.) then slid in with smithwick rattling rouge off the board. ran all spoons off the riggers. took our two l.l.'s off the board and took two browns off the spoons (R&R custom blk./red dot) first day with a "working" auto pilot and it was great to be able to have two people on board with doubles on and never have to touch the steering wheel!!!!funny thing is when we tangled lines with a boat going the opposite way the auto pilot was in standby, this little mishap cost me a flasher fly and taught the guy i was fishing with to look for little yellow things with a red flag that run off the side of other boats.not sure the total numbers of fish but it was a fun filled day!! be back on the water sat. fishing with rod keyser and son..... time to clean the boat.... GOD bless rollie
  17. pro/ams and the scottie's have first dibs on my calender then maybe i'll join in on the fun!!

  19. some day i might learn to ask before i act!!!
  20. my auto stops finnally broke the anntenna for the depth raider here is my fix... lenght of electric fence wire apx. 24" , 3" of 2 1/2" pvc pipe, 3" of 2"x2" treated lumber, two part epoxy cement, a roll of electrical tape.... wrap wire around outside of pvc pipe then take formed coil and insert into inside of pvc pipe, two small holes one on each end of pipe is were the tag ends of wire are placed to hold in place. one tag is cut flush with outside of pipe the other end is left long so the remainder of the depth raider antennna can be connected to it. mix two part epox and glue the coil tp the pvc.(i used two stripes 180deg. apart) place 2x2 on the rigger boom and mark the angle witch is created by the rigger cable going to the reel of the rigger. cut this angle then glue the "new" antenna to this block of wood. remove probe and route the rigger cable thru the antenna and secure it to the boom with many wraps of electrical tape. replace probe. attach raider antenna to the long tag of the "new" antenna by twisting and soldering then taping the connection. this worked well for me as i did not lose the signal with 190' of cable out. this may sound like a lot of work but the auto stop feature is well worth the effort in my book! now if i can get the pics to transfer.....
  21. thanks for the pic. of the old girl, GOD bless rollie
  22. fished with" blood bath" on the south end . steady pick all day. lakers were out in 150' two points up from salt plant. lemon lime Echip with costom big weenie fly was there favorite. boat traffic at salt plant thinned out after the rain and wind started so we changed over to R&R spoons and stick baits to chase the land locks(this is where we spotted the bait ball heading north). no "hot" spoon or stick just a steady pick. still had problems with auto-pilot but" blood bath" figured it out ..two broken wires inside the cover of the flux-gate compass. not sure if I broke them or they just came loose...hope to get them fixed before next outing, boat ran fine(thanks Hannifin's)
  23. will be running R&R spoons on thurs. south end of seneca got some new patterns that i need to play with!! i hope this trip my auto-pilot is working. talked to several people (charter capt.'s) and called navico they seem to think i had it too close to my g.p.s. receiver, time will tell. GOD bless rollie
  24. commpression is 210-225 in all cylinders on both motors, but how many hours is alot???
  25. fishing freind of mine poised this question to me and i'm clueless, what is concidered low hours and what is concidered high hours on the new four stokes, he's looking at a baha cruseir with twin 130's (honda) they have around 900 hours on them.is it too soon to say they will run for 2000,3000,4000 hours before rebuilds are required. any and all imput is appreciated. GOD bless rollie
