National Lake Trout Derby results
final flight replied to Second Chance 22's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
fished all three days with my 18 yr. old daughter, great time lots of laughs. boated 44 fish, dropped a dandy at the back of the boat. daughter was in fifth place (rainbow) when we left the watkins glen lauch, don't know the reason but she's not listed now??? geuss we should of gone to the awards and we would know for sure... fish was the same weight as the one that is posted must have been a measurement thingy-- oh well -
will be fishing with the daughter again this year, staying at watkins, launching there also. ch.68 boat name 'the blue bubble' can't miss her because she is very blue and very bright. those little paint swabs are soooo decieving -- Rollie --

i've been on many charters on the big pond and always have found the captains to be fun and full of knowlegde that they are willing to share BUT...... there are some first mates or boat hands that i will NEVER get on the same boat with. i'm a rec. fisherman on the finger lakes small 16 ft. lonestar thats almost as old as i am and i'm 51 so there is no reason that i can see for these people to be complete jerks. i do know how to hold a rod,i do know how to and when to reel, i mean after all i am paying your wages for the day. if the fish throws the hook and gets away soo be it!! if it takes me 2 mins. or two hours why would it matter, i'm sure your getting paid regardless of the numbers.,i guess what i'm saying is you charter captains need to observe your help cuz the numbers don't matter to alot of us, but the deck hands do!!! is good help that hard to find?? GOD bless the U.S.A. and our troops

i live in pa. and don't even buy there trout stamp here, but the fishing is sooo much better in nys. that i really don't care if they raise it to 50 dallars, i will make up for it in the amount of time i spend on the water killing there little trouts and eating them yum-yum-yum!! i need to go set in my boat and calm down!
-
crowbar point about 50 ft.off in distance or 20 ftw how ever you wanna look at it. the other one that sticks out is by the boy scout camp. this is a strange peice of water but the gps is all messed up there. set the riggers 40ft. and watch the booms for the bottom bounce/ run the chip on a lowrance color gps unit, not sure of the model # but it's a gps unit with no sonar, large screen, easy to see GOD BLESS rollie

was that boat BLUE, if it was that was me. we did 8 for 12 with a real rookie on the rods. first 4 fish were dropped , just would not listen!!! took the next several fish to show him how (standing behind with a hand on the rod and a hand on the wheel) finally he got the hand of it and never dropped another.hot rod was wire 180 out over 100+ although the riggers did there share. on the water at 8 off at 12. one rainbow the rest were lakers 4-6 lbs.GOD BLESS rollie

fished with downtime sat. and sun. went 9 for 18. two were break-offs 5 were swipers and two were dropped fish. 9 that were landed were 20#- 26#,nice clean and green fish. wire dipsys were the hot ticket # 2 set 318 ft. back size "0" no ring. spindoctors with fly's bloody death w/purple mirage. mt.dew glow w/ proctologist. kovorkian w/ green crinkle. white glow/cracked ice w/ blue glow no-see-um. leaders all at 21" . fished insde around 70 fow untill boat traffic drove us out. did all but one fish in the 140+ fow. north to south troll seemed to be the best(running into wind) we don't have down temp/speed but gps was reading between 2.2 and 2.8 mph. only one of the fish boated came on a rigger,79 down 8 ft. off the ball beleive it was a dark green/silver spindoctor and a nbk spoon. good luck all and hope to be on the big"o" for the weekend GOD BLESS rollie

duane, run riggers out and down. scottie's with 30" booms, no tight turns, boat is a lone star 16' with 70" beam. these weights won't even track when there 2' down let alone 110' got to go it's time to head to the big "o"

thanks for the info. will try and set up my penn 309 with more copper need to be around 70' to make the spread even top to bottom. don't know if this works for others but with no depth raider it helps me find the active ones. hope i don't get spooled with only 400' of backing!! i know if i do it would have won the loc. thanks again--- rollie
-
hookum, go to grerat lakes angler web site there is a ton of info. on there, easeir for me to send you there than type it all over rollie
-
how deep will 45# copper run with 135' out plus say 100' of 30# backing. don't want to strip down a 47lc to run a copper line down the chute and my 30lc with 400' of backing will only hold 135' of copper. i'm sure someone on here can help me out. leaving for lake O tomorrow and what to run a chute line.
