Had a couple this year at least 9". one was snagged in the back with a spoon, the other had a stinger size spoon hooked in the mouth. It was during their spawn.

Great stuff Chad.... The crash landings had me laughing out loud, too funny. Awsome pics and vids of the Whales and the landscape.

No, only 27 that were in the Pro-Am. One had to drop out. The Oswego Pro-Am was fun but the odds were stacked in favor of the the teams with the big fast boats. On Saturday many of them raced off to fish in front of Sodus and they got their 12 fish limit and raced back. The smaller and slower boats could not make that trip and as a result they ended in the bottom field. Sunday was hard for everybody, but again the teams with the most advanced electronics could go searching for fish at a relatively high speed. Yes, participation was fun,but I got away with the feeling this new setup is stacked against the weekend warriors. Noting that only 28 teams signed up, shows that a lot of last year's participants voted with their feet. It is also interesting that a few weeks ago we got an e-mail informing us about the price money based on forty participating teams, while never mentioning the actual number of participants at the time. I think that next year we will also vote with our feet. Well I must admit, my transducer cost $200, so sorry for putting everyone at a disadvantage. But the funny thing is I took 75% of my two 12 fish boxes 4 miles form Oswego Harbor! And I am a weekend warrior. Thats your perception of what happened, not reality. Thanks to Dave and the commitee for a great event.

One of the more important things you will need is a good cooler There is no sense in trying to learn the in's n out's of fishing this lake and go thirsty doing it If you have a fishing buddy with a hot g/f, then invite the both of them... especially if the weather is predicted to be hot! ya never know what may result in that good music (metallica, Uncle Ted ac/dc... etc.) passes time when your pulling all your stuff 20 ft. above the fish for hours and not getting a hit, while you stare at the hot chick in a bikini Just a thought! Good Luck

Long line tangles, what am I doing wrong?
on the lam replied to MarkNY's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
copper horror.... never deploy on a turn!! never retrieve on a turn.... never ever release a diver on the outside on a turn with copper off the boards.... never release a rigger that is stretched more than 50' on a turn... u will own the diver and maybe the copper as well. never deploy 2 coppers at a time on a turn or in bad currents (last weekend back east....) human error will lose more copper n wire that a crazy king will IMO.... so think and rethink before you start friggin riggin.... BTW I LOVE copper and will always will... ><<<<'> -
You have to pull the outdrive to do the repair on the throttle cable bellows, so do them all and your good for years. If you don't do the exhaust bellows it may fail next year then your in the same position pulling the outdrive again. Your braver then I if you use tape to correct the problem, as I believe the tear in the bellows will grow as you work the outdrive under normal conditions. good luck

Oswego pro am registration Deadline

30 as of 10 am -
What determies that its more dependable? Albright knot has failed a couple times on me in 4 years of running copper. The Haywire and Spro has not failed yet. The weak point of a mono termination is at the knot where it attaches to a hard metal object like a swivel or a hook. So IMO terminating mono (leader) to copper which is soft metal compared to the spro swivel is much more forgiving. The swivel to the PP backing i do as well.

I know there's one part of the fishing equation you have covered!! And it comes in a can!! And btw those white birds on the beach are seagulls not snow geese so don't be shooting any!! [ Post made via Android ] -
Mark i've seen the hollow core braid in action, and as you say tedious to rig but sure did finish nice.... also no failures.

One time years ago Ray got put in a sleeper hold by Superstar Billy Graham. But fortunately was saved by Bruno Sammartino! [ Post made via Android ] -
Inline to connect copper to backng. I don't use spro. Albright knot for copper to leader. Imo... just a preference [ Post made via Android ]

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Tom Allen and the tournament committee for once again putting on a great tournament. We all know alot of thankless work goes into this so once again thanks. Also the sponsors who were recognized at the weigh in, and their interest in supporting our local tournaments i'm sure is greatly appreciated by all. As for our teams involvement, we were able to hook up 15 or so quality fish just west of town, only dropping three. Lots of shorts, browns, steelhead a fat laker and an atlantic and a mondo alewife who hit a cheated spoon were all in the mix, all in all a nice morning. So for our efforts we found ourselves in 4th overall at the end of the day. An outstanding fishery to say the least. Good luck to those who are in the hunt for the challenge cup, other obligations unfortunately prevent us from competing.
