  1. I agree with Erwin, trying to plan a trip around the reports is useless. They are inaccurate most of the time.
  2. My condolences to you and your family.
  3. Its like golf, you will love it , or hate it . I like to consider myself someone who loves "boating" and drinking , and if we catch a fish or two thats a bonus . Good luck
  4. A DW, stinger, or a sutton all run differently at the same speed. A sutton may run perfect on a given day @ 2.0, and a DW @ 2.6. both should catch the same fish. Optimum speed for a particular lure may be a better way to look at it. IMO, but like Nick said, 2.1 - 2.6 is a good range for me as well. Pay attention to hits on turns, if the outside rod goes more often, they probably want it a little faster, inside rod, a little slower.
  5. congrats
  6. congrats on a successful shakedown Reese
  7. sure looks like it black mouth, forked tail
  8. Rich, where is the weigh in??
  9. 20# clear Ande, 20#FF
  10. I also like using the longer (9' rod) down the chute for a couple reasons, one of which was already stated, the ability to get clearance when fighting fish on the other rods. there is a greater chance, percentage wise, that one of the other rods will take a fish based on numbers. 7:1. I do wish the rod would shrink to 7' when the fish does get to the boat
  11. Bout time Frank??? Nice pic, another chromehead for Patty.
  12. The hot lure in Mexico is the "HOT Tamale" of course? Sorry couldn't resist. I havn't been there yet but what you described is the the norm for an april shoreline presentation IMO. Goby imitations and J-9 rapalas should get you going. There are plenty of guys who have been out in the bay, and I'm sure will chime in.. Good luck
  13. yea for Liam, congrats little guy. BTW, Mike send me your address and I'll get the little guy a new hat! GO YANKS
  14. Congrats to you as well Shade
  15. On water class/charters money well spent. you'll burn more in gas money no catching fish that on a couple classes/charters IMHO.
  16. Its all about family... My wife, preparing to attend my daughters college graduation in three weeks, driving my other daughter to high school, changing my sons diaper, and awaiting another daughters birth in four weeks (no lie). And then theres hunting, and working to pay for this expensive habit we have , and waiting for my son to get out of diapers so he could become the first mate on our boat.
  17. I agree with gambler, and also love copper. I have basically the same line up but but bumped the 500 to 600, reason being it goes off rear of the boat, so i could choose the amount of copper out, hopefully it won't be 600 (heart attack rig). BTW, I also have 50 and 75 for trout and SWR.
  18. You can do it, but as stated the wire will hang and drag unless you get the rod up high, then you can get the board far enough out to be effective. I have wrapped a (big fat runbber band) not sure of the #, around the copper then grabbed the rubberband with the scottys release. Worked fine, and no damage to the copper. Or you could get a second job and get a copper set up for every situation
  19. I'm up first ... "ANGLING ANGEL"
