  5. Congrats on a successful shakedown nice trout also.
  6. Tuna
  7. Nice report, congrats on a successful shakedown.
  8. Try to get 300yds or so on the reel total. if the reel can handle mono (20#) you could do that. If the capacity can't. use the PP as suggested (50# is 12# mono diameter) , an albright knot will make the connection.
  9. Mark, if the boat and equipment worked fine I would consider it a successful shakedown.
  10. Ya ever let out an early season stickbait on a flatline, and find out later as a seagull is attacking from above it cause its fouled and draggin on top??? I hate when that happens. Last spring, I think we were in front of Alcan (Oswego) when it happened again, only this time we got it on video http://www.hooklineandhotties.com/HOTTI ... IES_2.html
  11. Nice job on the layout. Good luck.....
  12. I didn't read all the responses, so if its been mentioned, Sor E. I only did it once and it was very expensive. Don't ever put the boat in neutral in a head wind in order to net a fish. Because if you miss him on the first try or maybe the second , then maybe again the boat will by that time have done a 180 and your copper, wire and everything else will be wrapped into one another as well as your rigger cable. Done that! then missed the fish. which came unhooked. but the good new was he also went belly up. (12# test and a 30 ish lb salmon, it took a while) any way after cutting my way out of a 150$ mess i regrouped and went after that F' in fish. as i got close he appeared dead on the surface. so my partner was takin me to him. Just we approached, and i mean 10' away, Yup, a big snap of the tail.... GONE, and I thought I heard him say F/U as he went. .
  13. OK Bob, I feel better BTW, I love you web site
  14. Welcome Bigleis Jailors get to kick at work!
  15. Calm down Mark, Unfortunately you have to buy one of the "NOT FREE" chips to get the FREE Fishin Chip last time i checked they didn't sell the Fishin Chip by itself. They make you fill out some crap about your personal info, and sent it in. Must be for marketing purposes i guess.
  16. Lake Effect Snow Warning for Oswego County, NY A LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM EDT WEDNESDAY. SNOW WILL ACCUMULATE ANOTHER 1 TO 2 INCHES ACROSS THE WARNING AREA THIS AFTERNOON AS MOISTURE WRAPS IN BEHIND A DEPARTING AREA OF LOW PRESSURE. LAKE SNOWS WILL BECOME BETTER ORGANIZED TONIGHT AND RESULT IN ANOTHER 6 TO 10 INCHES. STORM COULD EXCEED A FOOT FOR SOME LOCATIONS... PARTICULARLY THE TUG HILL PLATEAU REGION.
  17. Ray, that fishin chip is invaluable as far as identifying structure. I've been using it for three years and it "definitely" helped increase the catch. For me its most valuable in locating those subtle dropoffs where prestaging salmon like to hang. As you said its also very accurate. BTW, I got it after purchasing the Navionics gold, and after looking at the gold chip once, i have never looked at it again. If there was a way to buy just the fishin chip, I would have.
  18. Nice report!! Were you using mono with long leads??? there is alot of stretch in some mono, so less than solid hook ups could be expected.
  19. on the lam

    test

Nice CC, Alaska is the major leagues.
  20. I don't, and I found the need for them even less when I went to 150# test mono for a tow line. There is enough "stretch" in the mono to prevent problems.
