  2. Winter SUCKS...... come on spring
  3. One time out of Oswego in late July (90+ degrees) myself and three buddies left the dock in a hurry after lunch, the bite was hot. Upon getting to the breakwall and under power, one of the guys jumped out of his seat like and screamed like a friggin girl!!!!!!! STOP THE BOAT.. I was like, what are you screaming about. He said we forgot the beer in the cooler at the dock. Thankfully someone was paying attention and averted a near disaster.
  4. kamloop I'll google it. Nice catch M/Bob, wanna drive to Cali ??? I'll pick u up ?
  5. Nice job Jax
  6. I think Gill-T has it right, so I feel that he should be awarded a LOU PhD in marine biology. I agree with him.
  7. Falcon must be right, after talking to guys with PHD's and 6 years of studying and hauling fish, a salmon attacking a lure head first is the right answer im sure. But as luck would have it i found a video of the 1/10th of the 1% of fish that hit from the rear.
  8. I also was of the opinion that the effectiveness of the copper in addition to being out and away from the boat, is that the copper will "swim" or move up and down from being pulled by a board or boat, and side to side in current as an example, and adding misdirection to the lure, thus giving it better action? By adding weight at the leader, i think you would kill that action? why not snap the weight at the backing knot, you will still get the added benefit of the additional weight for depth, but the action of the copper remains.. just a thought.
  9. They hit it from the rear and kill it, then return as its floating or injured and take it head first. IMHO. So i go for eyes in front. BTW i really like the copper nose, reminds me of my fav spoon, carmel dolphin.
  10. I would consider running spoon blanks on the umbrella rigs and fix one to each of the corner riggers on the cable 5' above the ball with a 5' lead. then run spoons below and behind on all 3 or 4 riggers (whatever you run). i've done this using dodgers with good results, especially in spring and summer for kings. Just a thought......
  11. 600' also know as a "heart attack rig"

  15. as far as the 582L is concerned, i have one and probably won't replace mine until it takes a sh#t. works fine for me. They are no longer manufactured as far as i know (585 replaced it), but you could snag one on EBAY from time to time.
