  1. I got a Hobie Pro Angler 14 this fall and I've fished the Fingers/Ontario and the Niagara in the winter out of my 'winterized' 17' Alumacraft so I'm following this thread from a couple angles. Although I've been kayaking for over 40 years I have no intention of splashing my new Hobie this winter (except down in Mosquito Lagoon, Fla.) but I have been thinking about a dry suit for awhile. Does anybody have any experience with how these suits hold up if you use them for ice fishing as well boat use?
  2. I have 2 different Goby pattern spoons. They have a textured paint job but they look like Stingers
  3. Who makes it?
  4. I was pretty sure that the date has varied but I have not been out the last 2 falls at Skan. Thanks very much for the feedback gents!
  5. Mono has too much stretch and resistance which limits dive depth. For Salmon go with wire. For eyes go with braid
  6. For what application?
  7. Does anybody know when they close the gates to the Skan launch?
  8. Trolling: No doubt.Scott knows the lake like nobody else: https://bluemoon.lakeontariounited.com/
  9. Yes
  10. I'll let you guys know how it turns out but according to some folks who should know the Airmar TM-260 installed correctly on high end sonar units will enable me to id fish/bait at search speed. That's what I'm shooting for with my HDS 12/ TM 260 combo, guess I'm not really interested in any thing less than that
  11. I've got sandbags in the nose of mine favoring the side w/o the kicker. Works wonders in the same way and helps get out of the hole too.
  12. HDS 9 + Airmar -260 BL (probably be a bit less than 2k if you don't get the carbon) 'spend for the glass close to what you spent on the rifle'
  13. That's not really a very informative statement. These boats are light weight aluminum boats: easy to tow ,easy on gas, and relatively inexpensive when they are a bit older. They don't crush a big rolling sea like a heavy glass boat but as long as you are prudent they are very comfortable under normal conditions. I have had one for over 10 years and fish a lot.
  14. Yeah, she is a fine boat named after my bride of 30 years
  15. yeah, I have tried it, and it does work if you stay attentive… just such a pita
  16. The Atlantic juveniles have long been an issue for me on both Seneca and Cayuga. I can't stand dragging them around and both dwindling their potential contribution to the population while negating the potential of my presentation.
  17. 1 good used Otter boat. 1 Otter boat keel. 1 Tandem set of Big Jon manual planer reels (to mount on single mast). 1 set of Big Jon manual planer reels (to mount on opposite sides of the boat on arch etc). PM me with an offer. Shipping will be extra or can pick up in Olcott (NOTE: No pics for a week-sorry)
  18. Had fish on the screen in 20 to 100 fow but nobody interested so we cleared the stuff and shot out off shore. Found a real spotty looking screen from 400 to 550' and set up a wide spread: 400/500 copper steely style spoons off the big boards, divers out 350 w/ twinkie-meat behind crazy **** and a big mirage paddle. Riggers were set w/ mag and reg mixed veg spoons down 70 and 90. All the lines took fish. Wound up w/ a nice mixed box of steel, kings, and a coho. If I could go offshore and comfortably do it again I would consider it.
  19. Found a good screen a bit west of port and shallower than last week. Predominantly a dipsy bite first and then we got the last few for the box on 8 and 10 colors. Same colors that have been good: purple, rainbow, hot blue steel, Colorado blades on the harnesses and purple and purple/mirage stix. Fish were down 40' 0ver 60 to 75 fow.

  20. I always figured fishing for walleye in the Fingers was a bit like going to church to hook up. I mean yes it happens but when you can go to Erie and do a 3 man 18 fish box in 3 or 4 hours, well....
  21. Ok, my winter boat is almost done being revamped Greg and then we'll get out on Cayuga and Skan. She's got big boards, down speed and temp and we'll hunt some silver!
  22. That's what I thought. Thanks!
