  1. I invite all you driveway fanatics to my farm to plow snow. You will have the chance to run a big powerfull 863 Bobcat and push through mountains of drifted snow to your hearts content. I'll sit by the wood stove and re spool for the upcoming season
  2. I don't see how anybody could hijack this post. It's the different things we're all doing that are keeping us all going. Respooling my browns/ eyes rods w/ 8lb Maxigreen tomorrow.YeHaa!!
  3. We had a spectacular browns season on both ends of the lake and a great early to mid season on steel and salmon. It was late season that was lack luster for me.
  4. Today's sanity fix is mediocre at best. -37 windchill this week broke all pipes to the kitchen. Gotta fix the pipes so I can brew some more lager tomorrow!
  5. Bought one of these years ago for $15 somewhere. Sure have gotten my $s worth out of it. Handles the big bulk spools. http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Berkley_Portable_Spooling_Station&i=442304&r=view&aID=504T10&cvsfa=2586&cvsfe=2&cvsfhu=343432333034&s_kwcid=msnsearch_berkley%20spooling%20station_&device=c&network={network}&matchtype=e&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=B_Fishing&utm_term=berkley%20spooling%20station&cID=GSHOP_442304
  6. I don't know about you but with the Flx launches iced in and the snow so deep I can't get out on the ice with the wheeler I'm starting to wither (not to mention the brutal cold). So, how are we holding it together? All right I'll start: I'm brewing beer and working on motorcycles in the small, heated part of the shop + chipping a way at some reel m&r.
  7. IMHO It's a lot easier to talk about killing yotes than it is to do it with any kind of consistency. Eastern coyotes are a lot smarter than people give them credit for and more important than most people realize too.
  8. Glen, Pretty bad out here and worse for the weekend. Bubbler at T-falls has been marginal. Not sure what the situation at the Village launch in Watkins is like. I have not even tried going out yet this winter. Should start to turn around soon (sick of ice fishing...)
  9. The lls can be anywhere in the water column. Do yourself a favor and run baits at different depths. If you don't have riggers run core off inlines and slide divers inside those, run the high lines outside the cores. On any given day I've gotten em on everything from trolling flies on top to DW ss spoons down 55'. It's been an ugli winter so far and very few days have been what I would call fishable, should start to see a few good days before too long here.
  10. I predator hunt at night with a kill light so I feel comfortable saying these guys were: a.) shooting before confirming their target and b.) shooting well past the limit of their light and their ability Predator hunting at night requires really sound judgment with respect to confirming the target- it is a whole different ball game from deer hunting. Unfortunately these kinds of incidents are on the upswing right now with the increased popularity of predator hunting. I was listening to a 'security guard' telling a story of how he shot a coyote the night before at 200 yds in the dark with a kill light. Now it doesn't matter that he was most likely FOS (full of sh#t) , the problem is that people are thinking this sounds like a cool, American Sniper fantasy that they can act out in their neighbor's back 40.
  11. Normal price $60, on sale for $24.99 at Fleet Farm.
  12. I have a small boat and a ton of stuff, here's my strategy: Rods: in the arch or in the riggers or bert's + not in use in the cuddy FF combos: ATOMIK organizers and stored flat on a shelf edge around the back deck Stix, Spoons: Amish outfitters bags which hang flat around edge of back deck (keeps the flasher boxes from falling off shelf). Note: I never take my divers off the diver rods(big waste of time) Important: I always keep a plastic organizer each of my 'go to' FF combos, stix and spoons on my engine doghouse. These boxes change as the season/bite changes. Whenever it's slow I take stuff I haven't been using from the 'go to' boxes and put it back in the ATOMIK and Amish storage containers (that keeps you thinking about the versatility you have)
  13. Setting up another 12 ga 3" shotgun for predators & rethinking the actual value of the hevi shot dead yote T loads we've purchased in the past. I'd like to pattern both guns w/ #4 Buck this weekend but having difficulty finding it. Anybody know of any I could get my hands on anywhere? Thanks! -Andy
  14. That space is going to be pretty tight either way you go. We can still get around ours even mounted to the deck, not sure how much space you will have for backer plates under the window. I made my backers as wide as I could and fairly long to spread out the load.
  15. Make 2 pairs of bases for each side. Use one set as the actual bases for the arch and use the other set under the decking as a backer plate. Use SS bolts, washers and nuts to sandwich the deck with the 2 plates. I did this with my Islander and have been very happy with the results. Did this in 2008 and have had no problems.
  16. Wound up getting the Eskimo propane unit on sale at Fleet Farm for $360. Thanks all!
  17. Snow works really nice but that's right you don't have any!
  18. Well, probably be the 26th or so but it is right around the corner! Hope these last bunch of deer thaw out a bit so I can get em skinned n' cut up before there's anymore hanging around...
  19. Do you get an 8" or the 10"? Thanks.
  20. Considering the idea of a power auger. Looking at the Honda-lite 4 stroke. Anybody have any experience with one?
  21. Ray, when are you coming back over to help me hunt that swamp?
  22. I do a fair amount of practical long range white tail hunting. For this task I use a Savage 11 Long Range Hunter special in 308. It's paired w/ Leupold optics. The rifle likes the Hornady 168 grain Amax Superformance Match rounds. My shots are typically 350-450 yds and the deer are generally DRT.
  23. In high altitude 7M the bucks were not exhibiting much acute signs of rutting last weekend. Necks not swollen, no real chasing, no response to grunting, etc. I typically do not see that behavior until the firearms opener up here. -Andy
