  2. Why take em off the wire? Just velcro the diver's trip arm to your rod handle ,wrap the leader around the reel and attach the big snap at the end of the leader to the reel handle or reel w/ a hair zingie. No kinked wire-and no wasted time rigging and unrigging.
  3. I and others have posted a lot of good info on rigging and techniques for jigging. Use the search features- it's all there. Have fun! -Andy
  4. Sounds like the new ride is on em, good for you! -Andy
  5. We'll be back to defend the cup!
  6. Hats off to the top finishers! We couldn't do any better than a shade under 9 and went for ice cream at 1:00 pm. What we lacked in weight we made up for w/ some good action. Had a great time and the boy's arms are sore. Lotta fun - see you all again. -Andy
  7. 7' Shimano Talora fast action rigger rod w/ twili. A great setup for smaller boats!
  8. Elliot & I will see you out there Scott! -Andy
  9. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Emily ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):5-13 Time on Water: Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction:W changed to NE Waves: Surface Temp: 57 Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 10 Total Boated:10 Species Breakdown:3 browns, 7 smallies Hot Lure: firetiger rapala, blk silver yozuri Trolling Speed: 2.4 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 5'-15' Lure Depth: surface ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Finally found the time to get the Islander out of L&M's parking lot and into the water. Clear water made for some tough BT fishing but found a few good ones. Some exciting small mouth action kept things from being dead. Was going to head out off shore but radio reports were not promising. Pretty smooth shakedown. Had a little trouble engaging the starter to get going but got it after a bit. Later Hank quickly discovered that unless I make sure that my shift control clicks into the neutral detent and stays right there the starter circuit switch is off even though the drive is not engaged.
  10. Good going Greene guys!!
  11. Good going Mike!-Andy
  12. Praying for a speedy recovery. -Andy
  13. Dbutts, don't feel bad about getting your boat in now- you have the whole season ahead of you. I know how it goes- I fished all winter and I was so pumped for April Browns and then I got swamped at work and on the farm and I'm finally gonna get back out tomorrow for the first time since the end of March! Good luck out there and I agree with you- it's people sharing what they are up to on the water that makes LOU what it is! -Andy
  14. Pretty awesome looking setup Pete, ENJOY! -Andy
  15. Looking good guys, way to go!
  16. Chris, check out Tuna's - online reel parts that are often better than original + answers to technical questions to emails in a timely manner. http://www.google.com/search?q=tunas+re ... =firefox-a
  17. Run em behind BW grease traps!
  18. 27s will not hold more than 6 colors w/ backing and that's pretty tight. I put my 10 & 12 on Okuma 45D reels which are a lot easier to reel than 47s. If I was to start from scratch I'd get the high speed version (might convert mine if I get ambitious enough). 2-3 colors, especially in shallow water, work better off big boards for me after that Church Walleye inlines work just as well though they don't pull 12 colors w/ a mag spoon out that far. If you run mutiple cores off inlines just remember to have the deepest lines next to the boat.
  19. Jim, I did best to the east between the first and 2cd bluff. The dock is not in.

Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: 1.9-2.3 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 6-15FOW Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Got in some LO browns fishing this morning. Kinda of a damp, drizzle bound morning but the enclosure & a thermos of hot coffee kept the chill at bay. A mixture of cookie cutters and a few better fish all on blk/silver stix made for a lively morning that opened up with a triple after 45 minutes of nothing. Lost a real good fish that just wanted to go a bit further than a 17 had room for but a thrill none the less. A good start to the season ahead! -Andy
  21. These float setups are pretty simple to make with a high quality styrofoam 4" ball from a craft store. I painted the 3" one I use for browns black. If you run a long copper with a big flasher it will put a lot of drag on the line and can cause the 4"ball I use w/ coppers to slide some so make sure you use a 0R-18 release. Like Tim said this whole procedure works much better if you can get this rod up in the arch.-Andy
  22. Welcome to the LOU! -Andy
  23. Just tape it like the end of a hockey stick!
