  1. Took two decent steelhead yesterday. Pink stinger 300 ft copper straight in back of boat. On riggers a few Lakers and skippies also. This morn, 1 steelhead same setup and 1 laker on rigger. Even the charter guys I know are chasing lakers for lack of anything else. Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Jb weld and epoxy is a waste of time. Take a look at this online, it works great. Fluxless alum brazing with a mappgas or propane torch. Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. I was out sat morn and got about the same at 90. Found some high 40's at 120 feet down over 150. Even hit 45 briefly off south dunes. Even so, fishing was poor. Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Fished out of the pond this morn. Found 45 degree water at 120 over 150 in front of south dunes. 1 large laker and another hit, that's it. Marked some but no other takers for 5 hrs. Weather and water was perfect so it sure beats working. Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. Just put a plug in the intake hole for the live well pump. If it is still taking on water it is probably something else Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. Put the boat on th trailer. Fill it with water to just below floor level. You will see water coming from the leaking area Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. I have the same riggers and lost a 14 lb weight on the violent stop. Tried the Amisn outfitters snubber. Are quite large and seemed to increase blowback. Bought a Dreamweaver setup that has two twisted snubbers with a knockoff type blacks release between them. Liked it but was a bit too elastic. Took it apart and made two units. One kept the release and on the other I added a release and used large split rings to hook on. Worked well all last season. Has just about the proper elasticity to stop the violent starts and stops on the Cannon. Didnt lose anything else so far. Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Not the same as Johnson. Johnson has been gone for years Years ago they were. Johnson name was dropped about 10 years ago. Previous to that they were selling rebadged Suzuki 4 strokes for a while. Hate to see Etec go. Was interested in that new 3 cyl 150. Looked like a super efficient engine. 13. Tried that on a silver plated #4 diamond king I had for many years in a never opened pack. Killed the browns on it today. Too bad Luhr Jensen doesn't make diamond kings anymore. Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Just bought 12 ga flares for my pistol at walmart for $20. Exp date is Sept 2023. That surprised me since I will get 4 seasons. Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. A GFCI receptacle on a 12 vdc system makes NO sense. Do not use one for this application. Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. I have 8 of the Coldwater 453 series. They acted just as NymphO described. Got frustrated after 2 or 3 years of use. Called Okuma USA and complained. Even though they were out of warranty they gave me a authorization number to send to Tuna's for warranty repair. Talked to the guy there and he explained that even the latest Coldwaters continue to have this problem. I sent them out, about $25 for shipping. They put in the new drag washers and they are very good now. All the sticking and creeping is completely gone. I have since changed the drags in my spring brown Okuma reels and they are much better. 18. As for the short stop boards that always burn out the Omron relays. I have repaired them. They burn out because the inrush current at start and stop is much greater than they are rated for. I have successfully and very carefully cut off the plastic cap and cut away the contacts and coil with a Dremel. Soldered short wires to the origional wires still encapsulated in the board, then soldered the wires appropriately to a better relay. Worked well. Sold that boat a few years later but they are probably still working. Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  22. If your kicker has a "steering tube", you can put on any outboard type system with the pump running an outboard type hydraulic cylinder in the steering tube. Dont need a helm, all steering control from the control unit. A good example would be a Lowrance system with a HDS gps/sonar running their outboard pilot system. You would need to buy the cylinder separately. No helm required. You would not have throttle control with this setup but cold add that other ways. Had this on a T9.9 Yamaha high thrust. Ran shifting and throttle from a standard Yamaha 703 controller., autopilot steering from the HDS unit. If you have Lowrance HDS gen 2 or later unit you have a good start. About 1k for the autopilot, 300 for a cylinder and hardware. Then there is the kicker and bracket $. I have seen your boat at the Mexico launch and I believe you have an OMC "stringer" type I/O. I dont know what is available for autopilot to that unit directly. Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. Good to hear it worked. I was a bit worried about the "unbalanced" system, meaning more fluid in one direction than the other because of the fact that the seastar system cylinder is not a double rod type, therefore less fluid volume on the rod end. Hopefully the Lowrance system can handle that keeping in mind it is meant for an outboard double rod end cylinder. Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. Was yours a Mercruiser and did you use the Seastar Cylinder and hydraulic helm? I have been considering that on a Alpha 1 gen 2. I already have the Lowrance Hydraulix system . Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Use a heat gun where you need to bend around corners. CAREFULLY! Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
