A friend of mine had a 2001 40 hp 4 stroke. 3 cylinder. 3 carbs. Was a Yammy powerhead. Carb problems were constant. Finally had to get rid of it. Sent from my SM-G920V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I know low HP Mercury's were made by Yamaha in the late 90's and early 2000's. I believe they are not anymore. Sent from my SM-G920V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I put a Yamaha F70LA on my Sea Nymph GLS 175 about two years ago. It weighs 257 lbs. Is the lightest engine in that range, 2 or 4 stroke. Running gauges from my Lowrance HDS touch. Boat previously had a 115 Johnson. It was a rocket but just got tired of the smoke, hard starting and fuel consumption. The Yammy runs all day on fumes. Fuel consumption according to the Lowrance is 9-10 mpg at best cruise about 4000 rpm. Probably get a about 20 mpg trolling. Also hooked into the troll control with a switch. Can go up or down in 50 rpm increments from 600 to 0 1200 rpm. No more carburetors for me. EFI all the way. Touch the key and it runs. Sent from my SM-G920V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Velvet drive Trans are used on inboard drives only. I have one with a 300hp Mercruiser 5.7 inboard on a 27 Sportcraft. Very robust and trouble free . Sent from my SM-G920V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Choosing which Lawrence Fishfinder/Chartplotter

If you plan to interface to your motor or other devices and possibly get the Lowrance autopilot in the future, the HDS gen2 or 3 is the best choice. I have mine displaying all engine functions on the screen and plan to soon get autopilot and hydraulic steering. Need a later model outboard that is nema 2000 compatible to do this. Really nice. Also any Honda 9.9 without a serial # trying to be sold or serviced should get attention by all members.

If you know the serial # of the Honda, you should post it and all members can keep an eye out. It may be noticed somewhere.

Cannon Digi-Troll 2 downrigger, are they any good?
lrg355 replied to Todd in NY's topic in This Old Boat
I have 4 of them I bought used about 12 years ago. $900 for all from someone that thought they were too complicated. Run well. Had one display go last year. I like the fact that I can progam the depth and let it run down while I am doing something else. They also have the timed up and down cycling within a set distance like 10 ft or so. use it sometimes but never really noticed a improvement in releases. Retrieve is auto stop but it is not a short stop that detects disconnect of cable from water, it is an actual count up of pulley rotation. -

Pertronix kit has a small module that goes in the distributor and a pickup for the fall effect device. It all fits in the original distributor. Sent from my SM-G920V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

89 OMC Cobra's had points. I had one. Replaced with Pertronix ignition and their flamethrower coil. Worked great. That 5.7 would have a Prestolite distributor and kits are available Sent from my SM-G920V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
