  1. Most dealers are required to install it but there are a few that will sell a crate engine to install yourself and with no warranty issues. Yamaha 90 V-Max SHO is a better choice than standard 90. Neck snapping torque out of the hole. Trolls great also.
  2. I never paid any attention to MDO but recently looked at its specs. Seems like a better choice than ACX. Unfortunately I can't seem to find any locally. Lowes And Home Depot don't carry it anymore. MDF is definitely no good and that is what they are pushing. Where did you get yours from ?
  3. Stumbled across this info online. Very interesting1000000784 (720×411)
  4. I am surprised about everyone who does not go by manufacturers recommendations. Lots of comments on charging while running but all wrong!
  5. Read your manual carefully. It states that charging batteries while using the trolling motor can cause damage to the control board on the GPS models.
  6. You can also buy a longer shaft and change it
  7. I have a Sea Nymph GLS175 with a Motorguide XI3 that has a 54 in shaft. It is used occasionally as autopilot on the lake in 2-3 ft waves with no problem.
  8. You probably have extra wires on the side mount control. One of them would surely be 12v supply only when key is on. If it is a factory side mount controller or a generic such as a Vevor, it will be there. Just check all unused "bullet" connectors for power only when the key is on. Good luck.
  9. Go to Wallmart and get 50 lb test Shakespeare line. Very inexpensive, about $4. 1 spool will do 3 or 4 rods. Put on 150 or so ft of the 50 over a 3/4 filled reel, than 25 ft of quality 25 lb test fluorocarbon leader. Watch your knots so they are not so big such that they can't go thru eyes and levelwind eye. The 150 ft will be vertical when you use rigger and the diameter of the 50 lb is such that the fleas can't grab it. Horizontally from release to lure will be 25 lb fluoro but fleas don't grab much in horizontal position. Been doing this for many years and don't have a problem with fleas.
  10. Got a late start after the storms, fished from 8 to 10:30. Got 2, lost 1. One was the biggest of our season so far.

  12. What generation is it? I have a gen2 that needed a software update about a year ago. For some reason they lose critical gps data. Lowrance has what is called a "software patch" for most units that will fix many problems. Find your unit on Lowrances software update website, download and install the latest rev.
  13. This has the inlet in from the splashwell. Around 1990 or so the inlet was moved to the port gunwale near the passenger seat.
  14. It is 60 1/4 long , 17 3/8 wide and about 6 in deep. It is v shaped with a flat bottom.
  15. I have an 1985 model 195 that I am currently restoring. The fuel tank is plastic and I have it out. It is 24 gal. I can take measurements and pictures if that helps
  16. Lots of talent there
  17. Everything we have been catching has been on dipsies with flasher/fly. Wouldn't even put out riggers except for Fishawk info. Been running 4 dipsies, deep and out 350 next to boat and higher out 400 . 2 each side. 150 to 200 ft of water. Left dock at 5am.
  18. Used to catching catfish and small stocked trout so it was a thrill. Brought in in alone, no help.
  19. About 25 mins. On a Dipsy out 400 before the hit.
  20. Did you access the pump from in front of the engine or from port or starboard side of the engine. Also, were there any tabs or clips that had to be pushed or so before twisting the cartridge counterclockwise.
  21. I have used that and it works better than Deet
  22. How was the best access, port ,starboard or directly in front of the engine ?
