Nice job, thanks....heading up this weekend. Mom understands... Dave

Sounds great, I will not be able to get out until next weekend. Any water temp readings? I saw on the keuka lake web sight a nice increase in temp last week. Any smallies in your day? Dave
-
Either of you out on Friday? I trolled all the way up from below Gibbons North, had a few lakers....blk/purple ....long leads, 55 and 75 feet down ..100 ft water. Dave

Lakers again this Season I suppose....!!

Here is what I find interesting, the DEC web site says they stocked thousands and thousands of LL's in 2008. I suppose they are just feeding the Lakers when they do so, so why bother? It would be nice to see a little better fish management on Keuka. I know it is hard, and I salute the folks that do it. But, from what I have seen and heard on this posting........the Lakers rule the Lake. If the fish control was managed as well as folks seem to manage the growth of the wineries, we would all have browns and Lakers in the box. Mike, I will have to look for you on the water. I am in Brandy Bay....Blue/Silver Crestliner w/rigger hanging out the back. Dave

Do they like 54.4 as in Lake O? Spin's and flies grab all the Lakers. Any luck with spoons?......your thoughts.. Dave

Not so much stuck, just need to grab an extra cup of coffee and some additional fuel......I'll look for the Remedy if I ever get stuck on the water in need of a throne! Thanks for the info, I think I will give the South End a good run this Spring and see what I come up with. I have the week of 4/20 off and plan to be on the water every day...... Dave

Rob, if I was you I think I would invest in a brand new 5lb bucket, for Dad! I am on the North end of the Lake and a Hammondsport run will take me a long time, not to mention gas. BUT, I will give it a try, as I have heard this location before as well. I was only able to get down there one time last year, early in the AM. Would like to move well beyonf these lakers! Dave

Robert, I believe you are correct. I have landed my share of Brownies on the big lake. And I must admit, I miss the action. I too, have had plenty of the lakers here on Kueka, I thought I was missing something but any other species seems hard to come by. Out of all the fish last year trolling, the most rewarding was a 4.5 lb small mouth when I was washing a few spoons! I will take your suggestion and give the sticks a run for the Browinies, and early is no problem. I like to leave the dock under dark when I can, just for that reason. I have heard the South end of the lake maybe be the best try? Dave

Second year on Keuka.....where are the browns hiding? Did pretty well last year with the Lakers, but would like to pick a few with color. Any thoughts ? Thanks, Dave

Wow, never stopped clearing lines last weekend. Managed 2/2 with a nice 5 1/2 LK with a bit of a fight off the bluff. The wind the day before whipped up the weeds pretty well. Anyone been on this week? Clean up any? Dave

Troutman.......just Lakers......will need to try a few changes .....brownies and rainbow's would be nice......

Robert, I have been trolling all Spring...still no luck with the LL, all Lakers. Been a good season so far and no complaints. I know they like temp 54.4, but I can't seem to find 'em. Dave

Hate to say it.......found some fleas!

Dan, thanks! I didn't mean putting the braid on the DR spools. I meant simply utilizing the braid on the rod/reel setup until the flees come. Then, going with the #20 FF. Dave -

I currently have been running just dipsey's, so I have two reels of #30 braided, that has served very well. Been able to get down to 40 ft with the large divers. Just got my DR's and will be installing them in the next few weeks. I was thinking I would try the braided on the DR's and see if the line holds in the releases or not. If so, will run that setup until our friends (flees) show up to the party, then switch to FF #20. Additional rod/reel on the wish list, of course. Thoughts? Dave -

Hey Irish, Did you run the 20 FF on year or just late summer? I just got two new spools and am trying to time a single spooling. Got out this last weekend and had a slow start but ended up with a couple lakers, dipseys over deep water (160). Running braided on the dipseys, a little cotton wood junk, not too bad. -

Got out today.....cotton wood...wow, this is very close to flea trouble. New to the lake, hope they stop shortly. Dave -

Might have been the cotton trees...one can only hope. Acted just like the fleas, but I know it must be too early. Do you think the flicker is a better choice then a heavy carbon? Used the flicker up at Fair Haven, and was not too impressed. How bad do they get on Keuka? Dave -
I couldn't believe I found some fleas - Kueka Bluff, in the shallows trolling.....got me thinking and planning a bit. I know it is early, but any suggestions on what works once the summer gets here? 1- 30lb plus line - fcarbon I suppose 2- Flea Flicker 3- Get the braided off the dipseys Will be trolling Keuka mostly...so the heavy line is not my first choice. I troll off the main motor so the battery would get re-charged during the day. In the process of putting a trolling motor on, but not there yet. I do like the idea of running the DR's off the 24 trolling setup, when completed. Thinking of making this a two step process, run them off the cranking battery now, change to the trolling motor batteries once installed. Current setup is just a single battery, was concerned of wearing it down quickly during an 8 hour fishing session. Dave

Hello All, looking for suggestions on wiring up a pair of Cannon's. Seperate battery source? tap into cranking battery? Split the load? etc. Any advise would be welcome.....appreciate it. Dave

I saw between 51 and 51.9 Sunday. Dave

Any Luck in that cold water?

Good Morning, Heading to Keuka this weekend....was wondering if anyone has had anything to smile about? Thanks, Dave
