Give the cats to Hank, he loves 'em!
I think that a nice musky harness for some top-water action is the best path for them personally
Thanks for the story!
Bob, is your book published yet? I tried this last year, bringing it out on the ice in a thermos and everyone loved it! I'm going to try it out in the crock pot this weekend hopefully.
I spent a few hours Saturday and Sunday trolling the river from mouth to 104. Only place we hooked up was around Turning Point and up stream to the next bend. Saturday caught a 17lber and Sunday hooked 2 but lost both. The second one was a giant who wasn't going anywhere! Still seems pretty slow compared to recent years. I havent seen the acrobatics as much...
Here's a pic:
I heard you guys screamin Fish On! the whole night. We didn't catch a thing out in front of the yacht club in the boat. I've got to ask, was there more success with sacs on the bottom, or floaters on the surface? We tried both with no success. I wanted to start throwing spoons but the rain was demoralizing.... I'm going to give the Genny a shot this afternoon.
true that Ray! If I was employed right now I'd invest in a new trailer without flinching! I'm gonna see if I can put a band-aid on it this year and be on the search in the spring for a double axle like your saying. Next is finding a slip I can use in Monroe County for a few days while i get the trailer fixed...
I made it back there twice... no skunks but damn is it slow. I-Bay bass fishing (for me anyways) is brutal too. All we're catching is silver bass and monster sunnys.... anyone else doing well with the bass?
Thanks guys! I'll look into the gussets anyways then... I'd rather go overboard than not far enough and have it done again in 3 years. Problem I think I'll have is that it rusted through on the bottom (hence the loss of integrity) which if I'm not mistaken, would need to be cut out to get clean material to weld to. Moto21, do live near Rochester at all? Otherwise I'll look up ProTech.
question is, can I have it welded, reinforced, replaced all together, or get a new/used trailer. I have a 22.5' cuddy. Its a single axle shoreline roller trailer. Any advice or thought provokers welcome.
Thanks guys!
I'm not familiar with where you speak of, but generally speaking, search for any structure and mainly drop-offs. Look at maps and find dramatic edges, and you'll find the smallies. Largemouth generally like the slower, warmer water around gravel beds that are near weeds (bait). Structure and shade from the sun is key (like docks, logs, etc.)
Enjoy! Post results with pics!
I caught a 4 lber saturday just east of hedges in 35 ft. of water using a plastic crab. We're investigating again tomorrow night. Lewis shoal, east of braddocks, I caught a 3 lber as well.
