  1. I'm heading up this weekend from Thursday till Sunday for the 1st trip of the year. Was wondering if anyone has any starting tips that could help us beat the learning curve day? Looks like there's some good action in the Wilson/Olcott area. How about the Bar? I know in the past there have been years that we've hit some nice kings hanging off the dropoff past the red can this time of the year. Also, looks like a marginal East wind will be starting again. Does going deeper (400-500") affect the salmon out deeper as much as in close? It's just amazing to watch that fishfinder & when the East wind starts to watch the fish go from being active all thru the screen & drop into the mud & become basically "bottom structure". Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Tight lines & Be Safe!
  2. Killians, You'll need to take the day off because of all the reeling in you did yesterday! Like blueghost said, take the day off & work a different muscle group today. Keep the reports coming! B Safe!
  3. Heck no!! Don't stop posting! Some of us unfortunate bast@#ds have to work. This is the only way we have to live life thru others!!
  4. I'm really jealous!! Sitting @ work on my lunch break reading your posts & salivating! And since I'm not going to be there till LOC derby time I guess this will have to do. CRAP!!!
  5. No Skipper19. You're thinking of the one west bound. This is the one if you're coming from the east.
  6. Once you're on the road there's a good place to eat right off the interstate. Second exit after you pass over the county line. Sorry. Couldn't resist throwing in my 2 cents.
  7. Dewey I'd have to agree with you! Been coming to Olcott/Wilson/Niagara since the mid 90's & this area (all the people) are very friendly & go the extra mile to be courteous. Thanks!
  8. Wow! That is incredible! I would think a nice donation to the fire department would be in order. At least I know that's what I would do. So I'm guessing there isn't a towing company based in the area? I want to thank everyone who answered back so quickly. Be safe & God bless.
  9. I was wondering what boat tow service covers the Olcott/Wilson/Niagara area? I know Boat US covers Lake Erie. But not sure who covers Lake Ontario. Thanks!
  10. It's really odd to look at the LOC Salmon leaderboard & not see 1 salmon from the Niagara to Olcott area registered. I think that has to be a 1st. I know that that during the fall derby the East end usually produces a good bit of the derby salmon. But for not 1 western end salmon to be registered seems odd.
  11. So very sorry for your loss. She sounded like a very special lady. Most of us have had or still have a Mother, Grandmother who nurtured our thirst for the outdoors. Some took a active part in the sports while others helped with the processing or cooking of our "trophies". Though some may be gone, their influence on our lives is never forgotten. God Bless you & your family.
  12. I would like to tell everyone out there to have a safe & Happy Thanksgiving. And to all our servicemen & women out there who aren't able to be with their families on this holiday, please take note that your sacrifices aren't going unnoticed! Be safe & God Bless!!
  13. Does this same scenario hold for the oversea freighters who were nice enough to give us zebra mussels, lampreys, rusty crawfish, spiny water fleas & so many other species of plants & animal I can't begin to mention? They seem to be pointing the finger in the wrong direction.
  14. You've got the Slippery Sinker 2 blocks from the launch in Olcott. Wes can fix you up with whatever you need for fishing the Big O. Good Luck!
