  1. Proposing a 40 inch minimum for the southern tier rivers...Susky, Chenango, Tioga and Chemung. Same 40 inch minimum for Otisco lake tigers. We could end up with two nice trophy fisheries here in upstate. just too bad there is no movement on the statewide minimums. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  2. Here I'll make it easy for ya http://www.wfnfishingtown.com/how-to-vote.php Pay attention to #s 4 and 5 under 'how to vote' Oh yeah...and don't miss the tab titled 'Get more votes' http://www.wfnfishingtown.com/promote-your-town.php [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  3. ??? As if it was designed for credibility in the first place? It's a classic 'marketing contest,' not some scientific survey. Dont shoot the messinger here...Yaleye was doing EXACTLY as WFN instructed, and I'm just relaying what those instructions are. Read the WFN contest website. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  4. Apparently, this was one ballot box designed to be stuffed...so 'A' for effort here. There are 4 voting 'time blocks' per day. You can only vote once ...in EACH block, EACH day... (keeps ya coming back to WFN's website, right? ) They also actively tell you go out and solicit others, through clubs, facebook, sites like this...wow getting us to advertise for them...brilliant! 5. Yeah Zach, I know..just being facetious. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  6. I'm either fishing the wrong lake or just plain don't know how to do it...probably both Nice job out there [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  7. I can't find port colburne on the US website's list of finalists but Waddington NY here on our very own sportfishery of the St Larry sure is. That's 'who' (or 'where') I have been voting for...in close contention if not at the top at any given time [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  8. dayum zach, do you even fish anymore? tell you what...you just keep spending your time making all these awesome baits and I will offer to personally go test them all out for ya and make sure they catch fish [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  9. Sounds like fun. Was thinking about it but if the weather holds I may be on the water instead. Zach, will drop you a text if I end up hitting the thruway instead of 390. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  10. CLR takes rust stains right out of fiberglass. Goo Gone for black tar spots that people track in on their shoes [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  11. I beg to differ. I have the EXACT same motor and year. You absolutely should be replacing your water pump impeller now. This is something that has to be done annually and especially after sitting for the winter the fins take a set and not work properly at low speeds (or high for that matter). These motors are already known for poor idle speed pressure without the added challenge of a bad impeller. Since you have to do it every year, best to get in the cycle of spring replacement. You might get away with the old one right now since the water is still cold, but if it's missing a fin, you're asking for an overheat. That air pump is a grand if you seize it due to an overheat...an impeller is $15. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]

  13. Try setting the hook a couple times with hard hooksets to drive the hooks in...sort of like they do with marlin. You need to dislodge the lure from their teeth to bury the hook in the mouth...like ronix alluded to, those are tough, boney mouths. Great action though...nice going [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  14. When you figure it out, let me know Only way I know of is very shallow at night using stick baits so you might try casting off the dock, but depending on where you are in the SW corner, I know the break line is very close to shore. I'm not sure if that's good or bad but I tend to see the bait fish on the shallow flats at night, so I suspect those would be better areas to target. Hopefully someone will chime in with better guidance than I. Good luck and hope you figure them out. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  15. Capt Larry- just curious, what makes you say that? [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  16. Had a decent night trolling conesus...two pike in the boat: 26 and 30. Had about a 36 snap us off at the net and a few other fish on that we never got a look at. Might have set the hook harder on the mystery fish if I hadnt been hoping they were walleye. How it goes I guess. Till next weekend... Water temps +/-60 [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  17. nice. should be up a couple more degrees by the weekend.
  18. no, thats the ultracast invisibraid...stay away from anything with invisibraid in the name! anything thats white is the stuff like fireline. you want the plain ole ultracast, or even stealth if you like. those are the green traditional braided lines-may come in yellow too. not sure about the camo line, but that just seems like a marketing gimmic to me.
  19. give it a try...its like 8 thin strands woven together vs PP at 4 or 5 thicker strands, which is why its smoother. once the teflon wears off after a few uses, its a really nice, limp line. couldn't get ultracast last time and went with the stealth, very similar IMHO but haven't used it enough to break it in yet
  20. is the water temp coming up at all with the warm weather?
  21. I've always been a 65lb kinda guy. works for me. someone will probably chime in about how I'm going to loose a lure if I birdsnest or tighten down my drag when trolling, but hasn't been an issue thus far. is the 832 smooth? I cant stand the zzz on the guides with lower thread count lines like PP. One of my other big concerns when I was considering the 832 was just how limp it might be, since dyneema lines like fireline are somewhat stiff.
  22. if the thermocline hasn't set up yet (which I doubt it has) then yes there can be fish anywhere in the column. I'm hoping to head out this sat eve. hope to find the eleusive eyes this time.
  23. I use nothing but their ultracast or stealth lines. love it...smooth and suppple. tried others like power pro and hated them. the plain invisibraid is the spiderwire version of fireline, which is not braid at all, its dyneema. cant stand it myself. threw out all my fireline [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  24. seems it had not been stocked with eyes since 2008 as the catch rates for trout, walleyes collapsed which caused concern over too having had too many predator fish and resultant pressures hurting bait fish population. so now the DEC focus is on trout only. if you google the subject, there appears to be controversy and petition on the correct approach to managing this fishery. maybe someone familiar might chime in with the details and scuttlebut [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  25. marina was the same way last week when I was there, of course the levels have come up since then. unfortunately cayuga cnty has it shut down to boaters right now anyway due to erosion and debris [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
