  1. Thats an impressive sized specimen! They are stocking them in chautauqua and the river system in an effort to repopulate, as they were naturally occurring there in the past (primarily the rivers rather than the lake proper). I figured someone else would have pointed this out by now, but its a completely closed season for paddle fish. Cant target and as with all fish caught during closed season, its illegal to being them in the boat let alone pose for pics. There are signs at the kinzua launches describing this and the restocking efforts. Not trying to preach, just pointing out for others who may come across a paddlefish, since a lot of folks are unfamiliar with them.
  2. Smooothdrag.com. Drag upgrades are all they sell. Prompt shipping and good service over the phone too
  3. Yep bent axle. U can try fixing it (somewhat) yourself by jacking the axle with boat on it, dead middle of the span to try and bring it back into shape. I have the opposite issue...wear on the outsides (from the boat being jacked up by the axle towards the outsides) which is not as easy to fix at home
  4. ...Misaligned to the springs or the axle itself could be bent. Whats the wear pattern?
  5. Depends on the wear pattern. Could e misaligned
  6. Spun hub in the prop?
  7. Agree with above...assuming you are targeting walleyes or such, you would run the 12lb from the dipsy to the lure only
  8. The law is the law for a reason

  13. Awesome! Glad you were able to put a good fish in the boat after that pike came unbuttoned. Hate heading home thinking about the one that got away. Should be good memories for sure!
  14. Chad, congrats to you and the missus!
  15. If you can provide the make model and year of your motor you're liable to get a bit more specific advice
  16. Hi everyone, Friendly reminder that we have our monthly MI meeting tomorrow night (Monday the 15th) at 7 PM. Theres are some important topics to cover, in particular the proposed regulations changes which are now up for public comment on the DEC website, as well as next weekends tournament on Waneta and the August picnic. We also have a guest speaker with a topic that will be of interest to anyone who fishes the border waters. Shawn Considine with the US Customs and Border Patrol will be in to talk about about the role of US CBP on border waterways and a new initiative involving the CBP and the state police, and what it means for you (We're hopeful to have our speaker joined by one of NY's finest as well). Its a great chance to get better clarity on the do's and don'ts when fishing the Niagara and St Lawrence to ensure you dont run afoul of the law and minimize your potential for hassle...or worse; as the enforcement continues to evolve. We'll also get a chance to discuss the ins and outs of crossing the border when towing your boat as well. Hope to see everyone there! Brad VP MI 69
  17. Definitely an enigmatic lake. Give you credit for the persistence!

  19. I received an email from the DEC guys yesterday alerting me to the proposals. I asked for clarification with regards to whether the Great Lakes are included in the season dates changes and this was their response: The title for the Great Lakes reg change consideration is wrong. We are not considering a season date change for Great Lakes waters, only a size limit change to 54" for Niagara River, Lake Ontario, and St. Lawrence River. Thanks for pointing that out - we're adjusting it right now. So there you have it. NO change to GL dates. Look for an update to the proposals forthcoming
  20. Agreed Steve, and we did discuss catch and release, and the detrimental impact of those targeting muskies without the proper release tools during the interview. But you have to remember the audience: 99% of people reading the article don't fish, let alone target muskies. So that would be a little too 'deep in the weeds' so to speak.
  21. My boat is similar to yours and i didn't even really need to trim up the OB yesterday. Water is high right now. Normally i just trim up. Trim up more if you see a brown propwash. Haven't used the TM in years, since i got comfortable with the channel
  22. Be careful with that stuff. Boat goes on easy...but it also will slide right off too so dont unhook the bow eye at the top of the ramp or u WILL be one of those pics on the internet that everyone laughs at! They make bunk specific carpet for a reason...If you go with carpet get the right stuff so it doesnt rot prematurely. stays wet a long time each time after you pull the boat out
  23. Official tournament results are on the MI website nymusky.com
  24. Gert- just need to be there to register by 7 when the tourney starts. (registration opens at 6) Look forward to your participation!
  25. Justin n Tracy: no worries! trolling is allowed. And the guielines around leaving the fish in the water are just that: reccommendations that will help to ensure a healthy release. We understand there are situations where that isnt possible. Seeings how you have a large net, sounds like you have a nice pen to get em back in the water as needed during the release process. Old man: great! Look forward to seeing you there!
