  3. its like deja vu all over, only in reverse! Welcome to Chads site Larry. we're lookin forward to that brew next month [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  4. I wish...5 hours away though...could be good fishing but be careful the weather...on my way to the airport this AM I thought I heard talk of some potential storms. BTW you got too much time on your hands...I gotta tell 'Patty D' to work you harder...or maybe Im just jealous Go get 'em! [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  5. you generally won't 'see' them on the finder in shallower water (or ones up high over deeper water) as they will move to the side as the boat goes by. that said, the surface temp went way up (about 10 degrees to 82) while we were there friday and with the continued high day and night temps this week the fish should be deeper over the coming weeks so I would skip the casting and go right to trolling the deeper water - like 20+...not that my numbers there this year are anything to brag about but...hope it helps...and make sure to try not to play out the fish-right in the net and quick pic (if you must) and be sure to revive the fish as those high temps will do a number on muskies. good luck! 6. zack I think you can call the prendergast hatchery and they will provide the fin clip info by year...I don't believe its any big secret... [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  7. Wow, that blows Sol. I cant believe they would send it back without double checking it prior, but I'm sure it wouldnt be the first time that something like that happened...but did you possibly unhook your power wire or double check your fuse? maybe that blew when the water got into it in the first place. good luck, I know how you feel...mine has to go back too and just a couple months out of waranty (called just after it was up so hoping they will honor it still). at their suggestion, when we were out Friday I swapped in my old unit to see if the problem was with the 'ducer or head unit but the old one seems fine... sooo mines off to H'bird this week. oye... gonna suck making due with no gps and low res for a while...
  8. great...NOW he tells me...small profiles! JK... prop hit...hmmm think I should start shortlining 'em in FRONT of the prop instead of behind [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  9. Days Gus? try I'm having one of those YEARS at Waneta... I have seen barely a follow or a rip in about 6 trips this year. My catches consist of 2 monster bass on suicks . Though I do think part of it is running too big of baits...I gotta try downsizing a bit... hey bob, now that I'm on the computer...is that some serious redspot on that last fish, or just injuries?
  10. yeah, and in my case nowhere... [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  11. at least my phone was just drained..not in the drain LOL yeah, Sol KILLED em yesterday and even zach pulled a 30s in...but if you were in my boat you'd think the waters were barren...9 hours and not even a rip. tried everything...depths speeds lures...nothing worked for me...Id have chalked it up to the bluebird skys and flat water if it weren't for Bob  to top it off...the motor is finally revolting after all the hours of trolling I've put in on those sparkplugs- I had to haul out around 4 because it wouldn't even idle well anymore. those opimax's are great on gas but Hate to go slow...at 15 bucks a plugx6, I wish my boat design would accept a kicker...I should invest in NGK... 12. hmm thats interesting. I just got my wife the new Iphone 3Gs a couple week ago and thy told me it would be immediately faster than the old one simply because it has a faster processor than the 3G version but that we wouldn't see the true improvement until the end of the year because they are still building out the 3Gs network. when I asked if we might see the improvements in places where the network is already built he said No, because it will all go live at once at that point. so according to ATT, 3Gs services are not available yet... 14. gonna take some time to consistently reproduce the action im looking for corretly ad reliably so it could be a work in progress for a while and will probably take testing a bunch of different style prototypes-but I have a bunch of ideas already. I was thinking along the same lines as gus on the foam thing unless im missing something. I would probably either try to get some weight in or on it (without creating resistance, like lead tape etc) or get some thick lexan and make (or buy premade) a lip and glue it on the molded lip of the believer, but wedge something under it towards the rear of the lure to give it bigger lip with a steeper angle than the molded one. just a thought... 16. oh I know where you're talking about: its Clifford ave across from Savoia's bakery. good info...thanks Bob... [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  17. Ya know Lee, I heard the same thing but since he didn't take any pics I guess it will forever be known as 'Ripley's Fish': believe it...or not seriously, I didn't do all that much fishing, at least not as much as I expected....just a couple hours here and there on a few days. funny thing was my stepfather came down for a couple days early on and took him out trolling at dusk tuesday...nothing. he passed on joining the next AM (Wednesday: full moon day) and a bit after a rip no hookup...BAM...the camera was still secured away and without anyone to take a pick of me with it I just released it in the water figuring there would be other fish later that week, and besides it wasnt a 50! It looked to be a bit longer than the one I had the prior weekend and definitely a lot fatter relative to length (clean from what I saw of it). Of course my stepfather was eager to join me later that day, but the clouds parted and the bite died. went again thursday AM with my wife and daughter, another rip no hookup and then we had one on...handed the pole to my wife to get her 'first' while I grabbed the net and a minute later the line went slack....never saw it but it ripped a nice gash in my Invader which incidentally is what I saw ALL my action on. Perchbaits and Wiley got NO attention. Think I figured out what it is about that Invader in particular that gets em going though...i'm working on my little 'invention' to add to any lure, so I'm keeping tight lipped for now while I work it out pray for clouds and wind Friday...taking a buddy out on Waneta... his first muskie hunt there, despite staying a week at his in-laws place there for a week every year
  18. blackberry makes a similar touchscreen phone...forget the name...Storm maybe? [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  19. verizon and ATT have the best national cell coverage but I have Verizon because they have the best coverage in the outlying areas like the finger lakes and such where I spend a good bit of rec time-less dead spots-compare coverage maps. (not that ATT is horrible out there just not as good) I'd rather have the iphone like my wife, but what use is it with spotty or no sevice? 20. interesting...the bait shop I've been to sells something they cll bass minnows which are quite large. the reason not to use those baits I not that they don't eat them just that the others are preferred to them by esox so its about increasing the odds of them taking the bait...could be the difference in getting a strike when they are in a neutral to negative mood. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  21. good info thanks. esox are slender body and prefer more slender prey as well as those with soft fin rays so sunnies and perch are less apt to get hit than suckers or similar shaped bait. BTW- why do you say not bass? just curious... [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  22. I think you can still get them at the bait stores. as long as they're certified you can take them to any lake (bring the cert and its only good for the day, I believe). not sure if its exactly the species you're after, but the bait shop at the S end of Ibay has some pretty sizable 'minnows' that they recommend for pike fishing. I dont usually use them so Im not sure if they have the actual suckers you're after or not. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  23. Im the same as Zack...heard drips and drabs about muskie in there getting hooked by bass folk before the opener but nothing difinitive i.e. firsthand accounts. so as much as I keep saying im going to gve it a go, when push comes to shove my 3 hr roundtrip ends up spent where I know I have the best odds [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  24. good call Chad! seems that over the past year the talk on big toothies has heated up. appreciate not being an afterthought to our coldwater friends anymore! LOL BTW-We're takin over your boards!!! [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
