  1. Thanks. I’ll try something simple like Conesus, bobber worm, next year. Give Owasco a try. I was there yesterday and there were a lot of fish right in front and a little west of the entrance in 28’. Huge sunfish and 9” perch.
  2. Nice job. He knows how to take a picture for sure. My grandson is 1 1/2. How old was your grandson when he first started going? I started putting my grandson in the boat this week, and he heads straight to the steering wheel!
  3. You are a very fortunate man to be able to enjoy the outdoors with your grandson. He will always remember these days.
  4. Nice fish. I was across from deans cove also today. My goal was to stay high and fast and try to get some salmon and bows. Did get the bows but no salmon. Bows were 25-40 down over 120-160’.
  5. Pan fishing is good for numbers but not good for size this time of year. I try every year at around this time but catch only a few marginal keepers over 10”. And they seem to be overly thin compared to other fingerlakes. Plenty of rock bass and also you should be able to get some smallmouth but they are also mostly in the 10-12” range. Because of the size of fish my friends and I call this lake “ Skinny” ateles. If your looking for panfish, try Owasco or Cayuga. Keep in mind, summertime sizes are different than spring and fall.
  6. Correct rollmops. I was there today and caught a lot of perch and small rockies in 12-14’. Only a half dozen sunnies but they are huge. Can hardly get your hand around them. Everything caught was on plastics drop shot rig.
  7. Just talked to my friend that kept sunfish the day he was there with me. No grubs or worms. yes, we were on the north end of Owasco.
  8. I did not take home any but I did not notice any spots on the outer skin or fins like I usually do in all the Honeoye sunfish.
  9. I had a really nice trip there two weeks ago. First time for pannies there for me. Try around the 25-35’ depth a little to the right (west) of the harbor entrance. There were plenty of 7-9” perch there. If that doesn’t work, move down the east shore fishing real shallow between the docks. You will hit really big sunfish, some perch, Rockies and a bass or two in there. I would use minnows in the deep water and small crayfish or maybe plastics along the shore. Good luck.

    Canandaigua Canandaguia Launch

I launched my 16 1/2 alumacraft and my buddy launched his 17’ aluminum boat there with no problems. Just use the far left or right and push the boat away from the concrete pad and up on the mud shallows next to it. Really stupid situation.

    Canandaigua Canandaguia Launch

I was there yesterday. Still no docks and none stacked in the lot. What’s going on?
  12. Here’s a question for you Kevin. You and I fish different waters but target the same fish. For some reason, I find more fish , perch and crappies., like older wooden docks and pier posts than newer metal ones. I find this especially true in Keuka and Sodus and port bay. What’s it like up north?

    Canandaigua Canandaguia Launch

I’m waiting too for the south end docks. The weather might actually get better soon, can’t get much worse.
  14. Wow, 50 deg. Your lucky. My favorite Crappie lake is still in the 40’s.
  15. Crap, I was planning on oink there tomorrow. I guess there will be 100 boats joining me Seriously, you can get them all summer long . I alternate Erie walleyes and Cayuga perch he entire summer.
  16. Anyone know if the docks are in at the south end? They are not in at the north end.
  17. Nice going. I miss those Cayuga perch. ill Be at them soon though.

The secret to perching I Bay is to take a Golden Horseshoe with you
  19. For the life of me, I can not catch Erie perch on plastics. They just prefer Niagaras. I have caught them on buckshot spoons and stingnose minnows. But, Erie fishing is anywhere from 50-70’ deep fishing. Everywhere else I fish, plastics rule.
  20. The spawn is. I generally do not do well until the temps hit around 42 deg. Depends a lot on the lake too.
  21. I have not been out but I have heard of a few good catches in the bay. Traditionally, this is when you should be on Sodus. Targeting shallow areas in 12-14’ should do it for you. Good luck.
  22. That’s for sure les. Lots of small perch in the lakers these days.
  23. Wish I had it two weeks ago when my brand new Yamaha 7 hp quit in the middle of the bay!
  24. I saw that bubba too. How many perch can you get threw at a time. I have been using an American angler but recently the “ new” blade replacements are worse than the original. Thinking about cordless.
  25. Not quite right about that Brian. They cut off about the last day or two of muzzleloader for a long Christmas break. It is always best to call. I have been using Swans for six years now and they will make anything you want as long as they make the same product out of beef/ pork. There are a few German sausages they have made for me that are not on their official list. Just ask. And, while your there, stay and have lunch. Try a sampler meal of their brats and wurst. Inexpensive and very good.
