Bill, I don't blame you. You pay good money to have things shipped. I just received an order from Stamina last Friday. I placed the order 6/27. Same thing ...coated cable. I had purchased a sub-troll and wanted the better cable for the install prior to the Red Cross derby. Figured there was plenty of time for it to arrive. I never imagined it would take that long. After reading your comments I checked the ship detail on-line. Now I never asked for special handling but, USPS data shows the order never filled until 7/09. Now maybe they had no stock when I ordered back on 6/27 (nothing told me it was backordered though) yet doesn't it arrive two days after it left the point of shipment ..... and doesn't it show up in the afternoon of the day we had decided to install the cable that came with the unit that morning ....day before the derby! Thanks for sharing the owners attitude. I have no patience for people in a service type business that act as you described.

Thanks ....I ran down to the boat and put one on .......Think I'm good to go

Thanks for the reply.... does the release tension adjustment screw point up or down? Open the release by lifting the bottom metal loop up, the plastic screw there is your release tension adjustment. I double the line and put in the opening of the hinge near the top then lock it down and put the rest of the doubled line thru the bottom clip. Sorry if that is clear as mud but they are pretty nice stacking releases once you get use to them.

I just got a couple of Roemer releases off EBay. They arrived without the original packaging so I have no idea how to use them. I've searched here on the site but, to this point, have not found anything that tells/shows how they work. It does appear that from all the hits I got when I searched that these are a very popular release. I'm running blacks at the ball and would like to use these to stack. They have come with the metal clips. Would certainly appreciate someone steering me to an existing post on the how to's of these devices or taking the time to explain. What attaches to the rigger cable? How does the rod line go in? How about adjusting? Thanks!!!!

I'm not familiar with them ..... Are these only used for Walleyes?

clincher and depth raider signal connection
tangledline replied to Gene Shenk's topic in This Old Boat
Haven't seen this posted so I thought I'd add it. I just received my Sub Troll this week. As I was looking through the paperwork that came in the box I noticed a sheet that offers a klincher just as the one pictured here. Their $7.35 -

Coated downrigger cable for probe
tangledline replied to tangledline's topic in Tackle and Techniques
Maniac ...... you make a real good point and if you've been using the 150 and taking the time to switch it around and then change it .....that's sounds good to me. So now the only question is clear or black coating? -
I've caught a number of lakers on Seneca this year running things behind cowbells.

Coated downrigger cable for probe
tangledline replied to tangledline's topic in Tackle and Techniques
Thanks Guys ...... here's the thing. Don't most riggers run 200#? I see 210# on the site Maniac sent. Thanks for the input -
Just got a Subtroll and the cable they supply with it looks a bit wimpy. Can I get coated cable that is a bit heavier/better?

Product review -----------MEGA Spoon Caddy
tangledline replied to HOLY DIVER's topic in Tackle and Techniques
This subject is something that I've been pondering for months now. I'm leaning towards purchasing a special mate as that seems to be the best solution..... but is it? Would love to hear the thoughts of others on not just spoon storage but what solutions work for flasher/dodger/spin doctor/smartfish storage. I hate having stuff laying all over the boat. Dave -
Thanks Guys .... The replies are very much appreciated!

I just cleaned up a couple dirty foam rod handles with armor-all claning wipes then used the protectent wipes finish them off ...... so far they are staying nice.

Heres the set up I made for my downriggers. The beam is made of aluminum. It's not too bad to work with .... cuts pretty easy. Having pedestal mounts the raised rear section of the boat made it quite easy to get a good sturdy mounts. So far, there is nothing I would have done different.

Read some comments about the Furuno 620 and 585 ...... maybe some others that the model number doesn't come to mind right now. What is the opinion and/or experience of those out there with the lower dollar models such as the LS4100/6100? I'm looking to replace a humminbird unit and most of the advise so far has directed me to the Lowrance such as the X510C. I only want to do this once (more)! heehee Not sure I need color. At this point I just want a unit that tells the truth. I mainly fish Seneca Lake New to the board .... if this has been discussed ..... sorry! Dave

Thanks BlueEye, That kind of welcome makes me feel comfortable already! Dave

I'm Dave and I have a place on Seneca. I've meet some real good people on another board and been getting tips and tricks on trolling. This board was suggested as another great source. I have a 17' crestliner that I'm still tweeking as far as my trolling set up. Had some limited success lately with the lakers. I believe this trolling bug has bit me pretty good.
