  1. I also use the knot or tie that Tim posted been using it for years without issue, when your line turns into an Arby's french fry it's time to cut off a few feet and re-do it..at least I do.
  2. Now get back so you can be leadcore monkey
  3. Cisco. You can adjust them anyway you want, you'll never worry or complain about it's to high or it's to low, you can adjust it and park it where you want it. Lifetime warranty as well available in 4 colors. http://ciscofishingsystemsltd.com/index2.html
  4. They are talking about the surge of the boat from the waves pushing the boat. boat surge wave surge from trolling with the waves, in more cases than not this is what walleye prefer
  5. Pull noodles here a well for leaders and flies.
  6. I run 30 pound Maxima Ultragreen on my rigger rods, run both spoons and spin docs off of them, catch fish on both and never run a leader.
  7. I run mine on a 1 1/2 and a 3 or if they are firing well I'll go 2 and 3 1/2. I like longer rods on the outside 10 are best for sure. When you set them be sure that your diver is screwed down tight into it's setting position, this is crucial with wire you cannot afford to have a tangle with wire or say goodnight to your reels. When letting out the outside rod make sure you go extra slow when it starts I usually hold it till it gets till around 50 before setting it in the rod holder then I let the rest creep out real slow, same as always but I'm just careful when the diver starts pulling out to the side, not a good idea to let them out if the boat isn't close to straight either.
  8. Run your riggers off the back or off your corners and get a quality aluminum rod holder to run horizontal to the wate, this will increase your spread. I have a 21 ft boat with a 8 ft beam I can run 4 wires and 2 riggers with ease and never get tangles. I normally only run 2 wires but once in awhile I'll run 4. Here is what one side of my spread looks like.
  9. Mark, i use a bottom bouncer as well, had some spider problems in NY (were you with me?) worked like a charm. I also raise and lower several times, turn the kill switch ON then crank it over
  10. Good advice. I run a 250 Opti Pro XS. You defintely need to let them warm up. I fish ice out in March and into December on Erie pretty much till we can't fish any longer and I let mine run a solid 10 minutes before going anywhere and when I do I don't get on it hard, I take it really easy on the motor when the water is below 40. It does love the cold air and cold water and my motor also runs the best during spring, fall and winter but you can't beat on it. I have heard of guys blowing them up from not letting the motor properly warm up. Some horror stories on Walleye Central.
  11. Watkins Glen has races as well. I was just there for a music festival it's a cool place. Although I was there for something completely different i would imagine if your into racing it would be a cool place to check out for a weekend.
  12. Nice job Tim looks like alot of fun. God I can't wait till this weekend, a friend of mine came up and did 4 over 20 in a couple days and countless other kings, stable weather should keep the fish were they are at. Saturday am can't come soon enough. I love the first NY of the year, got a new truck to bring up and alot of new gear too, can't wait!
  13. For guys with Iphones and Droids, download Marine Weather by Bluefin and windalert. I will give you real time conditions at the weather stations. NOAA sucks.
  14. A Tom Mik are probably the most popular flies but alot of guys run Sigg's and Big Weenie. I'm sure you have seen the colors mentioned you may also want to do a search for "best flies" or "spin doc" or Spin Doctors" it'll keep you busy for a month. Then go to these guys website and take a look at the colors. When you go the tackle shop the name of the fly is printed on the package. Get the Billy V Green Ghost (sigg's fly) and run it on a green dot spin doctor, this combo pounds fish. Here is something i saved a couple years ago that Tom Allen posted when I was doing some shopping. Green attractor / green fly (#23 or #29) Green glow attractor / green glow fly (#41, #146, #164) Mtn Dew attractor or chrome / mirage or B-Fly Type (#73, #97, #106, #204) Few super hot specific: 8" White green dot spinnie / #T102 Hammer (All the time) 8" #70350 spinnie / #T41 Green Glow (Favors over cast but can be ran at all times) 8" Mtn Dew #70005 spinnie / #T106X Big Fin B Fly (Sun) 8" White or white glow attractor / #43 White Glow Fly (Overcast) ran first thing in am only first hour Chrome attractor / #T97 or L204 (Sun)
  15. Who's used them for 10 color and copper. Do you like them? how much better than the regular church boards are they? I have big boards but if these will get the job down for a couple junk lines I would rather run these.
  16. 2 years ago some guys from PA where fishing 50 jets off big boards and they did pretty good on matures running spin docs and flies off of the jets. Just goes to show you more than one way to skin a cat. I'm brining my big boards up this year might have to try a 50
  17. I run this style on my rigger rods and have both the dreamweaver and Sampo both are quality. This snap allows for free movement of spoon action if you want to run spoons off the riggers or if you switch up to spin docs you won't have any tangle issues. http://www.gloutdoors.com/dreamweaverto ... size3.aspx
  18. Walleye fishing has not sucked just have to work for them a little harder the size of the fish has been crazy good, the bite is smoking hot off Geneva right now only 10-12 miles from shore, even shorter from Ash and Conny. I'm going up July 23rd to Olcott if any of you Ohio boys want to work them over, probably go up twice in August as well. Hope the bite holds up for the south shore.
  19. Here on Erie jets are part of many guys standard trolling program, most guys running stinger spoons, for many charters and rec fisherman it's all they run off the big boards, black and clear are most popular colors, most guys including myself stay away from the flashy colors they give off to much flash in the water, paint them flat black or grey, grill paint works great and holds up. Scroll down here for a dive chart. Alot of guys are running the new Tru Trip 50 jets now, they will get over 50 ft with 125 back. http://www.bigfishtuff.com/forms/Tru-Trip_50_card.pdf http://wbsa.us/denied/helpful.html Scroll down here for a dive chart for 10's through 40's
  20. I run those cannon's in bert's tracks, hard to tighten but otherwise solid mounts and I love the swivels.
  21. They are awesome, I have triple tubes and the cradles, the best adjustability in any rod holder. They are the best IMO.
  22. I actually know someone who has a 95 19 Fishmaster with a good running 115 Mariner but the hull is is shot but everything else on the boat is working and in good order, trailer, motor, gauges, seats, has nice cover for it and everything, we fished it all the time then parked it and he got a new rig, has accessories on it even. I bet he would let it go cheap I can call him and find out. he works in Buffalo during the week but comes back to Cleveland on the weekend.
  23. I have one. I purchased a M68 for ice fishing but it came with the boat kit so I don't need it I have 3 other lowrance units on my boat but they are global maps, LCX units so I have zero use for it. 40.00 shipped. I also have a gimble bracket (16.00 retail) and a speed wheel temp probe for it, retail on this runs 70 I'll toss in the gimble and speed/temp wheel for an additional 40 80 total shipped.
  24. Lowrance and Hummingbird accomplish this through a "network" or ethernet sharing devices. The possibilities are endless on what you can do with these networks, it doesn't stop at 2 units either you can hook up sensors for fuel flow, engine readings, or a 3rd unit, share waypoints, transducers, GPS pucks (not map chips though those read from the head unit) Lowrance has the most affordable and most expandable options for the rec fisherman, I have a small network in my boat and will be adding to it this year. Raymarine and Garmin use slave units with 'brains' like vince said, there stuff is 2-3x more money than Bird or Lowrance though. Here is some reading. http://www.lowrance.com/Products/Marine ... e-Network/ http://store.humminbird.com/products/41 ... _INTERLINK Certain times of the year they have specials through Cabeles and or BPS when you can buy two HDS-5's or two HDS-7's with network cables one transducer and one GPS puck and save money, keep your eyes peeled.
  25. Here are a couple, due to the hook set up the Salmo looks good, they make a quality bait. http://salmofishing.com/lures/bullhead.html http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/product. ... 1b2166c62d It wouldn't surprise me if Koppers doesn't come out with a Live Target Goby bait, they have perch, sunfish, shad, crawfish etc.
