Run double hatchet or double willow blades off either inline weights or snap weights for higher fish. If the bite is deeper run dipsey's with these same baits, run a long flourcarbon leader. Copper/gold backed blades on the spinners, white back blades as well. run slower 1.4-.2.0 Pink, purple, white, chartruse beads will work. If you want to crank fish, try a purple sunfire deep husky, glass clown, or blue chrome in deep husky's size 12. Thundersticks in blue prism, purple prism. Reef Runners, try natural shades or bare naked baits, pearl ghost, rainbow prism. For whatever reason these are the best colors and baits to run in super clean water. You can run the cranks a little faster. I would snap weight the cranks to get them deep, 3 oz 30-50 in front of the bait, total of 150-200 back will put you in the 40-50 ft zone, depending on what bait you run. Don't overlook shallow stickbaits renosky's or bombers, ripsticks off the dipsey's as well. run black dipsey's only.

Does anyone know if slippery sinker or boat doctors in Olcott carries familiar bite or any other real meat?

http://www.protroll.com/products/echip/ see link to learn about E-Chip. Pro Troll flashers and fly's can come pre rigged with E-Chips.
-
The boat will have a large spash well, wave wackers are for guys who backtroll, which Lunds do pretty well. If you will be trolling they will not be needed.

Thanks. Looks like I'm coming up July 7-11th. I'll be in touch. Fishing out of Olcott as usual. Hope some big fish are around.

New Ohio Steelhead Record Caught Friday 6/25 Pic
K Gonefishin replied to K Gonefishin's topic in Open Lake Discussion
http://www.michigansportsman.com/2010/A ... elhead.jpg A write up on the story in Cleveland's Plain Dealer (local paper) Avon is 20 minutes west of Cleveland. It jumped 3 times, I would have left a bacon strip in my pants after seeing that fish clear the water. Wowzer. -
Tim, what is the purpose of the 20? why not just run the 30 on the spool and not worry about the leader. Or do you like having the flouro leader or do you think the 20 provides better action for spoon programs off the rigger? I ask because I'm spooled with 30 pound Maxima if the 20 will help my spoon program I'm all for trying something new if it'll help. thx

New Ohio Steelhead Record Caught Friday 6/25 Pic
K Gonefishin posted a topic in Open Lake Discussion
Congratulations to Jason Brooks, who caught this 38", 21.3# steelhead off Avon Point on June 25, 2010. It will be the new state record shortly after the formalities, having bested the 36.5", 20.97" former record taken back in 1996. The fish was taken on a spoon 40' down in 68 FOW A couple of my friends saw the fish said it was a beast (obviously) Good for him. -

Diawa LCA, LC and Accudepth Plus user here as well, not one issue yet, great bulletproof reels. The Plus series ones perform just like the LCA for much less money. I actually didn't think they would but they are holding up great. Magda's....no good. Walleye wear them out. -

K Gonefishin replied to Retiredamigo's topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
Buy a wiffle ball bat and cut the end off, slide it on and tape it down with electrical tape, great tip that was in walleye insider a few years back, alot of walleye guys run tiller kickers down on Erie including me. works great! -

http://www.ohiogamefishing.com/communit ... p?t=145986 I know this guy, he's good to go i have purchased many items from him. heck of a deal. -
I think you are REALLY going to like these baits 100% custom, if you like them, then you can buy some, they aren't cheap since they are custom and aren't available in the stores or anything but wait until you see them and you'll be able to get them how you like them. I also have these in blanks ready for paint but also have some painted so you can see the style and design of them water ready. If those fish up there are eating alewives and big shad those fish are going to CRUSH these baits. Shoot me pics of the Dr Death and I'll get to work. I'll me you my email
-
I don't have either of those patterns but if you shoot me quality pics of them so I can see the patterns I'll see what I can do I'm sure I can paint them. I do have some OTHER baits I want to send you to take up to Quinte to try out though. Email me and I'll shoot you some pics...on the house of course, they are defintely big fish baits made for big walleye. I may even try and make a trip to Quinte this fall but it's hard to leave Erie since our bite is so good in the fall.
-
What colors? how much you willing to pay? I have some I can paint for you any color you want, they are currently white ready for paint. they are the older ones, have a couple 15's and 20's. Depending on what you want to pay I may or may not get rid of them. Erie walleye like them but I have a zillion baits as it is and I know you like them.

I had one on my last boat, the guy that purchased my old boat still has it and it's still working and hasn't broke yet, boat is an 03 and it's a trolling machine so 7 seasons later and still going strong. the wireless remote is a nice feature, nice inexpensive way to steer your boat that's for sure.

ALL the Naked series baits are good, down here in Ohio waters of Erie they are many guys go to colors, Pearl Ghost, Cranberry Crusher, Purple Barely Naked, Skinned Squariel have been hot since. Go to Xtackle.com to see all the latest colors http://www.xtackle.com/reef-runner-minnow.aspx?page=5 this is the direct link to find most of the bare naked series. You can use needle nose to tune them but I use the Reef Runner Tune a Fish, it fits over the nose of the bait perfect, just bend it ever so slightly the opposite way of which way the bait is tending to run, if the bait is running to your right, bend to the left, don't bend it so hard you feel it bend just lean into it. let out 10 ft and check it, the bait should have a tight wobbling hunting action to it and should come up straight to your rod tip.

LOU Twitter
K Gonefishin replied to stoutner's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Do you have to have a twitter account? I just got a new motorola Devour phone that allows me to add any social netork I want right on my homescreen and updates pop up as they come in which would be awesome for me. this new phone uses MotoBlur to do this. Works with Facebook and Twitter but I don't have accounts with either. So if I understand this app right the captains reports would update right to my home screen as they post. The phone is awesome, maybe I should start a FB and Twitter account. Here is what my homescreen looks like. For guys looking for a new phone Droids are sweet the internet and brower is sick and the weather apps, GPS maps etc all very cool stuff. -
That video is not rigged? Where you there? Did you help them make it? Okay...once again believe what you see online. Read some head to head tests Mercury against E-tech and others below. Then come back and tell me they make the best motor. Here are some independant test by bass and walleye boats magazine...Mercury crushed E-Tech in many catagories in both the big blocks (225's) and small blocks (50hp) E-Tech only edged them out in like 1 test on the big blocks on the small motors Etech was almost at the bottom in all test. Go check it out for yourself! Believe whatever BS video's you want to watch online.. NON BIASED info is what I believe in. http://www.bwbmag.com/images/elements/1 ... otout_.pdf http://www.bwbmag.com/output.cfm?id=105 ... tionid=309 http://www.bwbmag.com/output.cfm?id=105 ... tionid=309 In regard to the 115. Who? my buddy who has a lawyer and is sueing Bombarier. Go to Walleye Central and search 115 Etech, 3 guys from the walleye community have extreme problems that can't get fixed. I'll end this post saying I know a good handful of guys who run Rude's and are happy with them and have had no issues as well, the 115 is not a good motor something in it's design is wrong. I myself had a 03 250 DI Evinrude on my last boat, sold it, since the guy who purchased it blew a powerhead. I know have a 08 250 Mercury Pro XS and only had 1 coil go bad in exactly 200 hours of service as of wednesday night.

Do you believe everything you see on the internet? That video could be rigged by a 3 year old. Even if it's not it's 2 stroke vs 4 stroke marketing at it's best apples to oranges comparison. Id like to see an Opti Max vs an E-tech.

Big Jon masts seem to be very popular this is what mast I have that I recently aquired and what most of my friends run. The mast comes 6 ft and can be adjusted and best to mount most forward on the boat on the highest place possible this will allow your boards to run the best with your tow line positioned the best and highest off the water and allow your releases to slide down the best when rigging rods. Be sure to mount on an extremely stable part of your bow or wherever you find to be most suitable, and if possible to thru bolt with a backing plate, this will keep it secure in rough water, you don't need it pulling out and it coming through your windshield, big boards pull very hard and it can happen trust me I've seen it happen on Erie. As far as where to buy a mast, pick a place most places sell Big Jon for 199.99 maybe a few bucks more or cheaper my advise is support a local tackle shop and buy from them even if it's a few buck more. I know guys on Ontario like Otter boats but guys on Erie mostly run Amish Outfitter RedWood Planer Boards, they are collapsable and take up less space and the longer you have them the better they run as they absorb water. Any other questions ask away.

When you catch big fish and as many as I do...drags on my reels get used alot, and don't forget we do have a heck of a steelie fishery... I hear what your saying though. by the way i couldn't wait any longer and picked up a couple new 27 LCX's...S A WEET. Much improved handle and the drag works like a Tekota with the little clicks smooth as butter. Defintely an improvement over the already bulletproof LCA's. Picked up this horse the other night on a bait I painted and first fish on the LCX. Over 11 and yes Tim...it took drag and my board completely under water.

Don't buy a 115!!!! They are extremely problematic, go bigger or smaller and you should be good. Vince is right. Even floor models or demo's should have full warranty's. Even demo boats that dealers run on the water and get fished out of that have never been titled (like pro staff boats) have full warranty's when sold to general public. His advice is right on give them a call.

Some guys down here on Erie have been running the LCX's for walleye and LOVE them much improved handle and even better drag. I have 2 on order right now should have them soon. Can't go wrong with any of the Diawa products I run all Diawa's 47 LCA's for riggers and wire divers and all 27lca's for walleye. 57ADP's for 10 color core The saltist's look awesome! Let us know how they work after you get some hours on them.
