Here is an article with a pile of pictures, fish on ice, mouth, head, pics of the lure etc. It's real but a couple of the pics do look a little suspect. I think the guy that caught it is just a real small guy, probably less than 150 pounds and under 5'7

You'll enjoy the boat, my buddy had a Triton 205, handled big water well and trolled like a dream easy to fish out of and tons of storage I put alot of hours on that boat with him I liked it. I'm a Ranger guy myself but a Triton would be second on my list.

Diawa 47's are bulletproof. Like Yankee said new ones are coming and I've been looking for the new ones to hit the shelves but they aren't out yet, tacklewarehouse said they would be ready to ship in August but BPS and Cabelas, landbigfish don't even show them on the site yet. I'm going to call them and see what's up. Going to get a couple 27's for Erie night walleye.

Your boat is to big for electric power. I have a 21 fter and used the (EM)Engine Mount Minn Kota for a couple years it worked great for slow trolling cranks or spinner for walleye but or for slowing down in massive swells early or late in the year but I would use it in conjunction with my 9.9 Mercury Pro kicker. On a rig like yours it would smoke 3 batteries in no time and would render you useless pretty much salmon fishing. I had it mounted on a 250 Pro XS Outboard though. I woud go with a kicker motor, Yammy T-8, Mercury 9.9 or 15hp Pro Kicker, these motors have a lower gear ratio extremely low pitched prop and are built for thrust not speed. Electric start and built in trim and tilt and since they are 4 stroke you could tap into your regular fuel tank with a T- Valve. All you need is the bracket and trollmaster and all set......3K later though.

I am just unlucky or am I completely clueless
K Gonefishin replied to fletch's topic in Tackle and Techniques
Get rid of those Atlas eggs and get yourself some cured salmon eggs or fresh eggs from the local bait shop whatever you can find ask the guy working for fresh eggs whatever you get don't buy them in a glass jar buy hand tied sacs. The Atlas eggs won't do you any good whatsoever, they litterly are a waste of time. Defintely downgrade your hooksize as well. -

Walleye & Bass Lures & E Chip Technology Preview
K Gonefishin replied to flytying's topic in Tackle and Techniques
Michigan Stinger also has some fancy E Chip harnesse's with great blades colors, some of the walleye pro staffers helped picked some of the best walleye blades made from other manufactures and had them make blades to add to the harnesse's. They look great and will work well, e chip or not the spinners will produce regardless of the echip hype. -
Considering upgrading to otters instead of inline planers
K Gonefishin replied to Gotta Bite's topic in This Old Boat
At least on Erie otter boats are probably the least popular and nobody really runs them (maybe see 10 per year out of 1000's of boats) everyone and there mom runs Amish boards and alot of guys are starting to run these http://auroralitestackle.com/planerboards.html not the shark ones but the regular size ones. My buddy has them and they work awesome, we pulled 3-4 40 jets with 2 oz on them in 4-5 fters and they never flipped and kept the tow line tight and off the water at all times except on tight turns, another thing you can do is run weed wacker line it acts as a bungy for the board, amish outfitter boards shockers also come in handy for rough water. -
Let's see em when you get them done, lots of Erie guys are starting to run these for inline boards for walleye fishing...so basically every angler on the lake in a boat under 25 ft.

Check https://www.walleyecentral.com/classifi ... esults.jsp TONS of great walleye boats here, I purchased my first Ranger off these classifieds and know others who have as well. I looked for you and didn't see any newer Fisherman's or Tyee's but a ton of Pro V's and Explorer's but new stuff shows up daily from all around the country. I would check back frequently new deals are gone daily. -

Here's my labor day report. Olcott fishing. Saturday we caught 3 matures, also caught 3 browns one nice one around 8 or so pounds. Fly's and spin docs were on the menu, the biggest king came on a rigger 52 down over 76 fow, bubble boy blue with a hammer fly, the others came on mirage with a green spot glow white doc saw lots of other boats hooked up, nets flying morning action was solid for alot of boats workin the inside, seemed like it at least from what I saw, bite was good from sun up till 10:30 Sunday had 2 swing and misses first thing in the morning, finally had one buckle up and landed that one. 118 back on a 2 setting, the bubble blue/glow hammer combo another mature fish. east wind came lake started to cap in the early afternoon, hit the bar and put a hurting on some food and beer didn't want to go out in the rough stuff so we got a good night rest on sunday night. Monday, blank screen, no bait, 1 small griller size king on a carbon rasberry moonshine 45 down on a rigger around 9 in the morning, saw no action, no nets and all boats were scrambleing, rough hard east wind put a damper on the fish and they busted out of olcott quick once the wind came, must have slid east or back out to deep water past 220 because we trolled out there and still nothing on monday, packed up and headed home. Can't wait till next season. I guess it's walleye time for me from now till ice up back on Erie. I'm actually looking forward to it. Thanks for all the help from Howie (shade) Tim and the rest of LOU.

Google Z Man Fishing, Joe Renosky is the man behind the Chatterstick I have some of the prototypes of the chatterstick when Joe was toying with the creation of them. Neat bait and they do work but not as good as alot of other baits, they do have the time and place though.

I've been using rubber bands half hitched on my wire to my 47 handles but just made up some clips made up of the black offshore releases that I took off my little boards going to try them this weekend, I get sick of the rubber bands and they make a mess of my boat, I always start high then drop them down and get sick of resetting the rubber bands the release clips will be much more convenient, I tied some heavy mono to them and going to attach it to my rod holders. I like my divers nice and loose and I use the dreamweaver snubbers they are on the stiff side but think that's a good thing for salmon, I also land 95% of my diver fish, hooks are always razor sharp, although most of my salmon tackle is pretty new after a fish or two I sharpen them with the luhr jenson hook sharpener with the yellow handle, the musky guys swear by this sharpener and I agree it's awesome been using it for years on my walleye gear.

It happened to me a couple times with Bananas...no joke, First time king fishing on Lake O out of Olcott I invite a local buddy of mine who lives in the burbs of Buffalo, he meets me and my buddy who drive up from Cleveland to fish. Slow fishing and I didn't know if it was me not knowing what I was doing being very new to fishing lake O or what. So we leave the inside waters after trolling for hours, so we're in awesome bait and hooks in around 420 FOW offshore it's around lunch time and I look over and I see my local buddy scarfing down a banana...mid bite I grab it out of his hand and throw it overboard, he gives me the look of shock and horror like I raped his daughter. 10 seconds later while explaining the superstition a rigger rod goes off with a nice steelie...TOLD YA SO. He coulnd't believe it. Then on the way home we stop in PA for some food at McDonalds and in the sports section low and behold an article in the sports section about bananas in the boat while fishing...I tore it out and saved it and still have it. Had another incident pre fishing for a big tourney 2 years ago on Erie with my same fishing buddy but this time it's with my Dad on the boat, we're walleye fishing and no walleye stink in the boat, all junk fish no eyes yet, look over after resetting my side of the boat and there's pops enjoying the yellow munchies, he had 4 of them with him!! My buddy grabs all of them and chuks them overboard, 10 minutes later we pop a 6 and 7 pounder and follow that up with 4 more fish. No I check lunches if I get a non regular on the boat....JUST in case LOL. Another thing that triggers strikes is, being on the phone either making a call or getting a call or taking a wizz. The first trip up this year around 9:30 am, slow early morning bite no rod moving I'm standing in the back of the boat draining...Bam 19 pounder takes off on a wire...happens all the time, Hits come when you least expect it. Superstition.....I'm a fisherman so I have to be.

Connecting the trolling fly to the Spinny or Pro Troll
K Gonefishin replied to Gotta Bite's topic in Tackle and Techniques
I tie mine off with a big duolock snap once I get leader length measured out, then I store them on a big pool noodle so they are ready to go and switch out easy. The duolock allows the fly to do it's thing and the clasp I dig into the noodle to store the other end so they are nice and tight on the noodle, I store my walleye spinners and all my leaders with snubbers the same way. keep the fly's from getting damaged as well. Amish outfitters sells them. -
Mexico 8/28-29
K Gonefishin replied to Gotta Bite's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Just a tip, those lure jensen snubbers weaken and crack over time expecially if exposed to sun or if they are over one year old, not sure if that is the case with your broken snubber but I found them to be not worth a darn and started running Dreamweaver's expecially for steelies and kings they make a really nice snubber that is pretty stiff and not made of soft rubber/latex with good quality hardware, whatever snubber you use always keep them out of the sun as well. Good fishing man. -
Maybe they came into a creek/river overnight sniffed around, ate them and returned to the lake and you caught them. Very strange indeed though.

levelwind wire setup
K Gonefishin replied to ofmanyone's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
You don't need roller guides or wire rods, any diver rod with a twili tip will suffice this is what most guys run, Diawa Heartlands are very popular rods, Shimano TDR's, Okuma Blue Diamond's all are inexpesive rods and work great just switch out the tip on them, if you want a reel nice rod, Shimano Talora's are nice real nice then you go with the rods that are made specifically for wire but you'll pay for them. I don't see the need. Malin and AFW (american fishing wire) in brown camo is what most everyone is running as far as wire, get two 1000 ft spools and load those reels up and your good to go. -
Not a friend and it's sounds like he is charging you...like Tim said, very illegal to do. You are allowed to offer a "friend" gas money which is expected and the norm but how he did you was not the norm. If you told the story how it went down, sound like Sam though you chartererd him and his buddy to make a profit...not cool.
