  1. I received 2 new daiwa saltist. Holy sh…t! What a difference in quality right out of the box. I am looking forward to using them. Hopefully they perform as well as I am expecting!
  2. Thank you all for your feedback. The reels have been good to me. I have had them for ten years. I bought them originally for lakers on finger lakes when I lived in horseheads. They have served me well the last 4-5 years since I have lived in Rochester. I have already ordered Daiwa saltist to replace. I will take apart the Magda as a learning experience and/or have Brian take a look to see if the Magda is a quick fix to be kept as a backup. At the end of the day, it is time to upgrade my reels to my level of experience. The Magdas did what they were intended for as an introduction to this fun, addictive, and expensive sport. Thanks again to those that responded.
  3. My okuma Magda pro 30 has zero resistance for drag. The reel is about 10 years old. Is the fix likely just changing the drag washers? Or other fix needed? Hopefully I provided enough info to describe problem.
  4. Planting seeds for a lifetime of memories!
  5. Thanks for posting. Ironically I am looking for the same. The original watermelon lure paint came off. I have a few other spoons that are bare as well in which paint came off. What is the best way to prep spoons so the stickers adhere extremely well? What chemical do I use to prep them? Mineral spirits? Thanks for your assistance.
  6. John, I am very happy with the venture commander 6000 trailer that came with my boat this year. Dave
  7. John, It is always great to read your and zed’s deer tracking adventures. Keep me coming! Dave

Fished from 8-3pm. Took my 70 year old parents and 9 year old daughter out. Caught 16 fish. 9 lake trout, 2 black bass, 5 rainbows of which 1 was 8#. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Target temps were 60-90 ft down. 45 degrees at 90ft. Fished 3 dipsys and 2 snap weights with planer boards. Ran one dipsy with chrome spin doctor with gambler rig. All the rest of rods were spoons - nbk, green dolphin. Orange crush, black and white, And some smaller spoons up top with crazy red and purple patterns. Water was low at north launch. Lots of cars in parking lot when we left as well. Got the new 2 month old boat nice n fishy and dirty. I think I need some lessons on fileting lake trout. My daughter wanted to keep some. Great day on water.
  10. Great day out there today!
  11. Towboat will reimburse for towing charges by marinas on lakes that they do not have a boat on.
  12. I use 50# big game on last 20 feet between wire and dipsy. Zero break offs since.
  13. Thanks for sharing the pictures and the insight to your successes!!
  14. Nice boat! Good sign that you caught a fish right away!
