I would look up the number and call Wrights. Trailer parking might still be a pain on Sunday. I'm sure you could launch but you might have to park a few blocks away.
In all honesty, I doubt it will read if you hook the probe to any junk rod or dipsy. If it had a cone angle to read a 100' or more behind the boat, you would get interference from other boats you fish near. Perhaps they meant the Fish Hawk TD?
If it's the ff transducer, check it by turning off the ff and see if it changes your reading on the x4.
You won't find me putting my probe on anything other than my rigger cable, definitely not a fishing rod.
I doubt he would have the report yet. There's the field work aspect then an office work part too before the report is completed. And the results are property of the person who bought the survey, not necessarily the boat owner.
I can't say anything bad about Traxstech myself. They have warranteed anything I needed and shipped everything I've ordered even as recent as 2 weeks ago. They've warranteed planer reel spools and a couple rod holders that were produced "pre-press fit" when the tubes were adhered in place. I always end up talking to Melody.
Snagging bottom is what the clutch knob is for... Keep it tight enough to hold the weight but not overtight to break stuff if you hook bottom and it can't pull out cable.
