  1. I'm gonna play devil's advocate...For the sake of arguement, setback is 100'. If you have three stinger spoons out on the same side, furthest line with one splitshot, second with 2, third and closest to the boat with 3. You get hit on the furthest line with one splitshot (running shallowest). You then slide lines 2 and 3 out to reset line 1. Do you then add 3 more splitshot so it runs deeper than line 3 with 3 splitshot? But... now the line/setup that got hit will be running much different than it was when it got hit. Or do you pull lines 2 and 3 to put line 1 back where it was then reset 2 and 3? On my boat, setbacks and weights are the same on each line on the same side of the boat.
  2. Oswego and LSR have not been Wayne Co in the past, Cayuga Co, yes. I always had to move my boat to Fair Haven. FH has been the only one that was Wayne. Don't know about Jefferson though.
  3. Try not to let them hit bottom! They cut themselves free. The line gets cut from hitting bottom where it goes over the edge of the disk and into the brass ferrule. They don't take bouncing bottom like a standard diver.
  4. If you are launching at the Little Salmon I wouldn't run the boat to Oswego. You should be able to find fish much closer than that. If you are thinking of fishing by the plant, don't get too close or you will get visited by USCG. If you want to fish Oswego, just launch there.
  5. Me too on two Penn Yans. Good screen running with either boat.
  6. Pap, they do go in the bilge. The flush mount transducers come in different angles. That way they look straight down but mount/match the deadrise/angle of the hull. Different boat makes can have different deadrise angles.
  7. Rich, similar to above, but I would call Airmar. I don't think it's as much of a power issue as an angle one. If you go with a flush mount transducer, there isn't much you can do about the angle. I know its not a Furuno like you are asking about but... I matched the 600 watt with my Humminbird 958 and can see everything I need too including riggers unless there is a bad current or I'm running higher speeds. I think Chris put a 1k transducer in the Parker for his Raymarine. Text me some pics of the new ride.
  8. Jeff, which blank is it you run in your Youtube vids?
  9. That pic is great Dave! Got any pics of running that dipsy rod, set up under load? I like the Daiwa roller rod but at $200 for a matching one, Fish Doctor/MissEm's rods are pretty reasonable for a custom rod.
  10. I got the email newsletter from DEC on Friday that the new system is up and running on that Friday. He should probably try to buy one again.
  11. If you are interested in the East end, check out the Oswego County Tourism page for charter services. http://visitoswegocounty.com/fishing-hunting/fishing/charters-guides/
  12. A lot of ice (12" or so). Fished off Lewis Point today. a couple inches of water on top though. You'll need creepers.
  13. Yes that is the autopilot. It works pretty good too. The big motor is linked to the kicker. I have been on this boat and it is a nice rig.
  14. I'm sure there are plenty of clients or prospective clients reading this site that want to know who not to book with too. They wouldn't want to put themselves in that situation either. Many of my clients have been on this site and some frequent it.
  15. and also around the main line.
  16. All the grips of my 3 Cummins nets have slid off at one point. Usually taking them from a holder though. All are glued now. The pool noodle is a great idea.
  17. I guess I don't understand what is so tough/tricky about running wire that people think it is so difficult... Set up your rod... twilly or no-twilly (but watch the guide for wear). Tape the arbor and spool the wire on tight. Use a wire knot for the terminal swivel (quality snap swivel). When handling the rod in the boat, keep the swivel tight to the rod tip. When netting/unhooking/changing f/f keep the dipsy reeled right to the rod tip or hanging, don't let the dipsy set on the deck/gunnel and allow the wire to slack and curl. On my boat it gets reeled to the rod tip because I don't want it swinging. If you have to re-terminate or breakdown the rod for storage check the wire to make sure it didn't curl while it was slacked. Before you put weight on it. Make sure people don't pump and reel too bad so you have sloppy wraps on the reel. Most of this boils down to DON'T LET IT SLACK AND CURL. Paying attention to that one detail is the real trick.
  18. I called Beth today for the same question. Entries will be taken at the Captains Meeting at 6pm Friday.
  19. Kevin told me on Saturday he has a deposit for the sale so I guess he has a sale pending.
  20. You are correct per DEC. Totally separate from the silver fish. Don't forget the slot either. For one person its one laker under 25, between 25-30, or over 30" then the second has to be under 25 or over 30". You can't keep two 27" fish per person for example. I don't know what Sodus ProAm rules will specify as legal however.
  21. Yes that is the reservation system. Call the Park directly with specific questions not reservations.
  22. Here's the number to the campground. They should be able to answer your questions. 3159475205 They can not make reservations, you will need to go through a different reservation service for State Parks. They can give you the info when you call. I hope you can get a spot, FH State Park is very popular and begins booking up in January. If you choose to leave the boat in the water, lock everything up and its probably just as safe as any other place. The Park Police do rounds and will check people they see down there at night. I have slept on my boat many nights there. Leaving it in the water will probably be $20 or so per night so you would need to decide if its worth pulling the boat to save $20 or not. Also would depend on space to park it overnight. Good luck, Andy
  23. I have one 10A still on my boat. It handles a 13# torpedo fine. It groans pretty good with my probe and 15# torpedo on it. I'd say 13# max for it if you want it to last any amount of time.
