  1. I decided to sell two inline planer board combos that I never use. Both combos have some scratches from normal use and both reels are missing the lens on the linecounter. Both have 12# Big Game that is about 4 seasons old. Drags have been backed off for storage. From what I can remember, both reels function fine. I haven't used these in 3 seasons. The first combo is a Daiwa Accudepth 27lc reel (old accudepth) on a Gander Mountain Guide Series Advantage Pro Planer board rod (8'6" Medium action, two piece, trigger grip). This reel has a broken point off the star drag (4 points instead of 5). The second combo is also a Daiwa Accudepth 27lc reel (old accudepth) on a Gander Mountain Guide Series Advantage Planer board rod (8'6" Medium action, two piece, trigger grip). $40 each combo or both for $70. Shipping is extra. Can arrange pick up around Thruway Exit 33/Verona or possibly Port Bay. Sorry, my camera died from a swim in November so I can't post pics. I can text pics if you like. PM or call (315)527-3652 Thanks, Andy
  2. Yankee troller made a post on here a couple years ago with some different lengths for the knot. I think it was 9.5 inches front and 11.5 inches back. It seemed to help with how they pull.
  3. They should hold. Sometimes I notice the releases get a little slippery/greasy between the pads. I run a towel or cloth between the pads and that seems to clean them out. I run my copper with the 50# mono to attach the release but can't remember if they are set to the light or heavy setting.
  4. Nice to see you got out. When I saw you post, I thought you got the Parker out. Either way, it's more fishing than I've gotten this winter. Tell the "Rookie" I said hi too.
  5. I can't say that the dowriggers loosen up ever but the rod holders will occassionally.
  6. 2, 3, and 4 are Challenge rules except for a cooler check. But, they are one day events on the East End so they are different. I was just pointing out that some similar events do exist to look at when developing this idea. And to not under estimate yourselves. I hope you guys go for it and it works out.
  7. Hey... Didn't Horsin' Around take 2nd Place at the 2011 Atomik Challenge, over EVERY charter boat entered unless LATERON is a charter? I'm neither fore or against the Pro-Am rule changes. Sounds like what this thread is talking about is basically the "Challenges" with the exception of being No Comm and observers. It's only about $60 to get in these. Pay out is pretty good, and if you look at the standings last season, there are "AM" teams mixed in with "Pro" teams in each event.
  8. I have Traxstech also. On the stern of my boat I have an 18" track on each corner which has a rod holder and a Cannon Mag 10 rigger. I will use the separate rod holder for the rigger rod or a junk rod down the chute. On the gunnels, starting from the stern, I have a 24" track which has a rigger and a single rod holder then a space and a 36" track which has 4 more rod holders then the net holder. The first two rod holders from the rigger don't get dipsy rods. They are used for moving the rigger rods out of the way to clear the back for netting a fish. I don't think that an 18" or 24" track will get you enough room between your outside rigger boom and the dipsy rod if you run the rod horizontal. If you run the dipsy rod holder at a higher angle and the rod can flex over the rigger boom you will probably be fine with 18" or 24" tracks. I don't know if you can mount the Cannon Low-profile swivel mount to a Traxstech downrigger mount but the Cannon swivel bases can usually be sold on Ebay for $40 or more each to offset the cost of a different swivel mount that will directly fit the tracks. Good Luck, Andy
  9. On Oneida Lake guys catch them often during the early walleye and bullhead fishing at the canal in Sylvan Beach. A buddy of mine was there one night and saw two caught that were about 4 feet long. They also have had an article about them in the Post Standard that the sturgeon in Oneida are now reaching spawning age and will be going upstream more-so and the catch rate will increase. http://blog.syracuse.com/outdoors/2011/05/oneida_lake_sturgeon_finally_c.html http://blog.syracuse.com/outdoors/2011/08/sunday_column_1.html
  10. Now that explanation sounds pretty good Tom.
  11. Best advice is look up Fish Doctors website. He has a video on the Video Tips page for tying them.
  12. I've only competed in one event last summer but here's something I was thinking about. Why not require the team to decide if they will enter their catch for the long or short box upon returning to port. 1) If they box out/12 fish, they are automatically weighing in as the long box. 2) If they have 6 or fewer, they are automatically weighing in as the short box. 3) If they have 7 to 11 fish, the team would have to decide if they have a strong enough box to weigh as a long box or do they want to discard/omit/not weigh up to 5 fish (at 10 points each plus weight) to enter their box as what they feel will be a strong short box. The reduction of points would not be a penalty, just omitting them from the long box total to compete as a short box. The team decision can be marked on the log sheet before arriving to the dock and before communication with any other teams. If there is no communication between teams, the individual team wouldn't know how they stand when making the long/short box decision. If they decide short box, they may be giving up fish and points that may have placed them in the long box standings or they might still get beat in the short box. It'll be a gamble the team will have to make. Just some thoughts...
  13. Rich, hope you have a nice one! Andy
  14. Good job! I like that black and silver Yozuri.
  15. My thoughts and I might come under fire for it: I have otters and have done everything the guys say to do with them, extra keel, knot length, heavier rope. Still not very impressed compared to my homemade boards pulling long copper. If you are tourney fishing and you HAVE to fish in rough water then they would be worth it. If you charter and it's rough enough for your wood boards to flip, your clients are probably sick also and it'll be a short day anyways if you even go. I probably wouldn't spent the money again and put that money into other upgrades, reels and rods...
  16. Who are you asking? Did you hit "New Topic" instead of "Post Reply"?
  17. I'm looking to have some custom screen printed shirts made up. I'm looking to get full button-down shirts, not polo style or t-shirts. My design has to be digital printed or screen printed, it can not be embroidered. Does anybody have suggestions on a business they have used in the past for shirts? I'm tired of looking and searching on the internet. Thanks, Andy
  18. I think I got mine at the Slippery Sinker.
  19. Opps, I missed it too! Hope you had a good one Jim! See ya in the Spring!
  20. Vic, Hope ya have a good one!
  21. I went with US Captains training and couldn't have been happier. It was a 10 day (I think) straight class. I didn't want to give up so many weekends for some of the other schools. Neil really know's his the material and can get it through so you remember it and understand it. I think whichever school you go with, you will be happy.
  22. Thanks guys. I had a good day, got a double on grey fox that is my first fox ever also. I was pretty excited. See ya all in the Spring!
  23. Drove down to Roscoe this weekend. All I can say is that the devastation around Bainbridge and Sidney is unreal. There are some very unfortunate people right now.
