Im not trying to argue....but this is the kind of thing that complicates the discussion. From Cuomo last Saturday... threatening to sue Rhode Island for trying to restrict NY'ers from traveling to other states https://www.lohud.com/story/news/politics/2020/03/28/cuomo-rips-possible-ban-new-yorkers-travel-vowing-sue-rhode-island/2934301001/ Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

x2 on reduction in telemarketing crap. Separately I found a leak under my stairs in my well pressure tank that I would never have found if I wasn't digging through supplies. It only recently started and would have caused damage. so while I'd rather have found the damage and never had any of us deal with this Covid thing.....what the hell, I'll be thankful for finding it because of Covid-19

No disagreement on hanging tight for now. However a NY plate doesn't hold a lot of value in my book these days. I'm in Rural NW NJ. My situation is definitely better than the "in state" NY guys to the east of me (NYC / Westchester). Hopefully as this moves forward each person considers their own situation appropriately. Even then, when I do go to my Lake O camp, I'm going to bring what I need, keep to myself and avoid stores /keep a low profile for a while.

I agree with you. This is a brush fire and its not going to burn equally. Its going to burn hot and fast where the piles of dry fuel are. Elsewhere else the burn is slower and more manageable provided reasonable actions taken. I've been watching too many folks acting like NYC is equivalent to the cornfields of Iowa....but it just hasn't made it there yet. OK yes they didn't have as many folks flying in from China but no they are not the same density. Yes it hasn't made it there as much yet but no its not the same. If we act like everywhere is a full out burn, the prevention actions will be worse than the burn through. NY upstate has always been screwed by the vast difference of downstate / NYC. This is no different.

While I'm in one of the more rural locations of NJ....this thought more than anything is why I'm going to keep my boat at home for the time being. It kills me but Murphy's law (ie sh*t happens....not my silly governor) is what will keep me at bay for now. Good luck (fishing and otherwise) to all, I don't blame or look differently on anyone who chooses differently. Granted the pictures will be tough to swallow.

Until the governor lifts the current restriction (or eases it) you have to think its an unknown because of how many people travel to join in. Plus in the defense of organizers, its hard to project a cash payout when there is zero reliability on attendance. I'd love to skirt the rules, but for a while (and it kills me to say this) I'm keeping my boat where it is. I'm in NJ so I have bigger distance to consider. I was all in for dragging it up later this week for the season. If I was local....different calculation.

Yeah, I think we are all just going to end up operating in a new reality for a while until its gone which really means some level of vaccine (I guess). Until then we just have to avoid swamping the medical so once the short term actions do what they do we will inevitably go into a secondary stage of life (IMO) with some combination of limitations. I'm hoping that next step is workable and even makes for good jokes and good "i'm going fishing....because its safe-er" excuses. I'm pretty anti-social so this is right in my wheelhouse (haha). I never did name my boat but I joked with my wife that "social distancing" would be a good one as fits my personality.

II like Gill-T's thinking and agree with it. I'm pretty sure Gill-T is talking about when things loosen up. Short term there aren't any tournaments anyway and we are over a month away from the LOC spring derby. As to the virus, short term we have a lock down to avoid swamping the medical services I don't like it but hard to argue. Long term its going to walk among us and we are going to have to get back to life with that in mind. How that works out we will see.

Nothing wrong with saying F-china. One of the strongest country of origin restrictions i have dealt with for an equipment project of mine was for equipment GOING to china.....they had a NO Chinese content restriction lol. We just have to individually remember that sourcing matters when there is a purchase choice in the future. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

All Non-essential Gatherings CANCELLED!

Damn....i was hoping to drag my boat up next week. I think the problem now is unknown lines drawn on enforcement, support etc when and where needed. Driving up i loose a wheel bearing on 81 north....now what. Could be stranded....could end up in trouble. Have to see where this settles out. I feel like NY and California are trying to one up each other Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -
A good boat name for the solo guy would be "social distancing". Very trendy Im a frequent solo fishing guy who isnt much for crowds anyway so suddenly my approach is the cool thing to do lol Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Go 72" shaft. I have that and Yamahas on my fishmaster 196. I wanted the Yamahas....that was happening or the boat brand was changing. The 72" TM shaft is what i have an is good until a chop greater than 2'-3' then it depended on situations. Pitching into them...was less good. Going with them, no prob. I had the same 72" shaft on my prior 18pro starweld….the usefulness on 2-3' into them vs with them was pretty similar. 60 would be fine if you are calm water only.
