  1. I credit at least 5 fish to Chris since everytime I would call him or leave a message seconds later fish on!
  2. He did a great job and as you can tell the smooth water in the background never hurts.

Everything was going from spoons to flies. Hammer flies, Gitr Done, 42, and mulatto spoons. We lost a couple of good ones on the Dipsey too. 18 lb king was the best for a young lad who pulled in almost all the fish. He's turning into a real pro. Maybe when I get older then he can take me out. He's on top of leader board for a king, bow, and laker for the youth wayne county tourn. ====================
  4. Blockhead, Those Bourbonais's are some neat dogs. You're right, I did some research and they sound a lot like the French Brittany. They do appear to be a bit bigger than the FB. FB are around 30-40lbs so I'm leaning towards the smaller cobby one. I would love to see a pic of your dog. Where do you hunt with him/her?
  5. Jigger, yes they have plenty of breeders in the midwest and I'm slowly weeding down my search of breeders. Most of the help has come from guys in the midwest. The French are more expensive but I'm willing to pay for the smaller brit. Plus there temperament seems slightly calmer than the American. No offense to American Brit owners, I had one growing up and she was an awesome dog.
  6. French brits are a bit smaller, in the 28-38lb range and a bit shorter. According to breeders, they tend to be less rangy than their american counterparts. Also, lighter shedding. I love the idea of smaller package pointer just so we can take him/her everywhere unlike my past 100lb lab. Just like to see one around but they're hard to find.
  7. I'm thinking about adding a French Brittany to the family and wondering if anyone has one.
  8. My time is short and need some electrical wiring done on the boat. Need wiring for a 2nd battery and some reorganizing of power cables to electrical units. Anyone know of a solid electrician who does this kind of stuff. Thanks.
  9. Tell them to move a little further east. Please.
  10. Are you at the campground Jimski? I've got relatives there and I may have to give them a call and get out there!
  11. Check the price on a Depthraider at Cableas. They sent out a special flyer with Depthraiders on sale for $389. I also had a $20 off from a promotion ad. Right now they have free shipping promotion which will be about the same as $20off.
  12. Good question I kept the riggers there because we picked a few moments before the screen looked like that but didn't get another. The screen looked like that for 20 min before we pulled up because it was getting late. Thanks for the insight, I'm still somewhat new to this and just learning to fish with a graph of this quality. Everything else I've had in the past was junk. I also just picked up a Depthraider on major sale at Cabelas so hopefully this will help out too. Anyone feel free to add advice, should you pull the riggers higher than the fish? Thanks.

Didn't look good out there besides picking up another small stealhead so we decided to troll back to 300ft. A good looking scum line fell in that depth but time was running short. We picked up two small kings right away then the screen turned to this for last 15-20 minutes and I couldn't get them to bite. Very frustrating to say the least and the best looking screen I've had all year. I'm sure this easterly wind might mess things up by the weekend.
  14. Not on purpose obviously, I caught one on Saturday AM 80ft down in 85 fow. Temp. was way down early in the morning. It was on a Die Hard spoon.

We started out with two nice kings a 12 and 20# early then it was a steady pick of browns for the rest of the morning. We ended the morning with a half a dozen browns and other misses. All browns except one were released for another day. By far the hottest spoons were the Diehard stinger and NK gator. BTW, went out for some swimming and tubing in the afternoon and the lake was royal. A stiff NE wind got the lake up to 2-4 footers. Here's the 20# king hauled in by a 11 year old boy. All smiles today.
  16. Hey Jeff, Thanks for posting. I was wondering how you were doing out there. Looks like you made the right decision to go out deeper. I appreciate the information since my time out there is limited. I plan on hitting the lake on Saturday morning so may hit the browns first thing then head out deep weather permitting.

Didn't mark any bait from 340 to 90ft. Very few marks and very little action. Managed two small kings and one of them was reeled in by a 9 year old boy. Glad we got the little guy one before the evening was over. The lake laid down nicely but where did the fish go, 400ft+?
  18. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 7/20 Time on Water:5:30-8:00PM Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction:NW 5-10 Waves: foot or less Surface Temp: 76 Location: off Ginna LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 9 Total Boated:5 Species Breakdown:steel and kings Hot Lure: NBK , Diehard spoon green flies Trolling Speed: 2.3-2.8 Down Speed: next year Boat Depth: 240-340 Lure Depth: 50-80ft ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Its been a slow start to the year for me with something going on every weekend but such is life. Anyway, after a not so successful Saturday going 1 for 8 in close (trolling too fast; hindsight), we decided to head out for redemption on a perfect evening. I passed by the inside waters and headed straight out to 300. I wanted to do a loop and troll west to about the oil rigs (aka. Webster water treatment) and slowly head in for browns. Picture looked good with fish showing up from 45 to 80 ft down and in no time we had bows hitting our high stuff. Even the dipseys took a few. After playing with the steel for awhile we finally got the 80ft rigger to scream a little and picked up a 15lb king. Overall, it was a great evening with calm conditions for a change and not another boat out there.
  19. Please PM if your deal for the rigger doesn't work out. Thanks.
  20. What are the disadvantages of the coated cable? Does it fray eventually or is it a pain to install, etc.? I would rather not put some extra holes in the boat with the fishawk.
  21. I have an 06 150 E-Tec and everyone I have on the boat thinks its a four stroke. It has plenty of power and Lund is right, its smooth. I troll all day and barely get any buildup. I don't know what the newer four strokes are like to winterize but the Etec is as simple as you can get and will be done in five minutes. Honestly, I think the HO would be too much power for my boat. I'm pushing 48 mph on GPS on a heavier 20ft. fiberglass.
  22. Not to beat a dead horse but I've heard a few conflicting comments that one is good over the other if you trailer and stow away your riggers away when not in use. I'm leaning towards the depth raider because I don't want to drill anymore holes for the transducer on the X4. But, if it means more reliability then I'll drill the holes. Can anyone comment who trailers and remove rigger after each use? Thanks much.
  23. I'm glad I started the thread because everyone here has at least tried the products instead of reading all the promotional stuff. I too am narrowing down to a hummingbird but now the question is do I buy two seperate units or do I go with the combo? If I had a lot of dashboard than I would go with seperate units but I'm only a weekend warrior, so should I really try to have different units or go with the combo? Oh and I'm trying to keep under a $1000. Another location to find good prices is Ebay, auctions only. I will check the ones Jack is talking about too. Once again thanks guys for all the input, its my first salmon boat and I want to set it up right the first time if thats possible.
  24. Yeah I've had a problem with Lowrance in the past and am ready to move on but I never thought about Hummingbird. I'll have to look into them, what about Ray or Garmin, any thoughts?
