  1. Thanks for the feedback once again guys. Decisions, decisions. Good luck to all. We will be in Fairhaven 21-24 April targeting browns in close mainly but I'm sure we will venture out after a mixed bag at some point each day.
  2. -Any thoughts on the Minnkota trolling motors that attach to the stern drive? I have read some positive reports about them but have not seen them discussed on this site. -Thanks for any thoughts you may have.
  3. Hey Guys, Thanks for all the feedback. Lots of good ideas based on experience. That is what makes this such a great site. Thanks again/Eric P.

  5. Looking for a good 4 color 18 lb test leadcore reel for spring fishing. Any thoughts? Thanks
  6. I always use clear line but I purchased some low vis green by mistake. Wondering if anyone uses the low vis green or has any thoughts on it. Tempted to try it but I know the clear works and I am a creature of habit. Thanks
  7. Can a charging unit be added to this motor? Thanks/EMP
  8. Thanks for the feedback guys. I am leaning towards having the kicker installed (99.9%). My Sea Nymph GLS has a kicker with the Trollmaster remote throttle control on it, fell in love with that. If for no other reason than the peace of mind that comes with having that second motor makes it worth the investment. It's a heck of a lot cheaper than the Harley I was looking at too! The Corvette is out of the question, that would really cause some problems at home! Thanks again guys. Good luck this spring!
  9. Debating whether or not to install a kicker on a 2001 Islander 191v powered with the 3.0 4 cyl i/o mercruiser. Main reason is to prolong the life of the engine. With trolling bags I get the speeds I want I'm just worried about the effect of long term low RPM trolling on the engine. Should I be concerned and proceed or run the bags and keep on trolling? Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks/Eric P.
  10. Hey Towers-Time, I'm considering ordering the Precision Trolling Big Water Edition Legacy mentioned, if I do I'll loan it to you for a drink at the Little Sodus Inn this spring!
  11. "Tamiron" offers some nice tapes and lures. Almost forgot, Jim is a great guy to deal with too.
  12. I add a touch to my spoon/stick bait hooks, doesn't seem to hurt, not sure if it helps.
  13. F9 Vampire, this lure should be outlawed!
  14. The fish limit would not change, so if the limits are considered acceptable what harm would 3 rods per person do. Keep the fishermen/women happy and all the towns along the coast would benefit. The more positive interest in this fishery the better. I would probably continue to use 2 rods on most days, sometimes less is more... Lots of good people around this country and I look forward to meeting many more of them. Lets not discourage them from enjoying this beautiful state.
  15. I have used a Humminbird 787 C2 for the past couple of seasons with great results. Add the Navionics Hot Spots card (which you can usually get for half price when the latest version is available) and he will be a happy man. They are selling the 788C1 for 566 at their outlet. Lots of good products out there, shop around and good luck.
  16. Billy V, Thanks for the quick response and insight. Hope you had a good season, heard you moved West. Thanks again/Eric P.
  17. Looking to update from a Humminbird 787 to a larger screen, fantastic unit but hard to see from the back of the boat. I like the capabilities of the new Humminbird and Lowrance units. My boat is a an Islander 191, not sure if I should go with a 8 or 10 inch screen. Also wondering if anyone has any experience with the XM and Sirius weather options. Also wondering if side scan is useful for trolling. Thanks for any feedback. The salmon fishing is heating up on Lake Champlain! Lots of frostbite fleet activity! Happy fishing/Eric
  18. Nice looking lure Long Line! Used to cut the bottom hook off and cast/drag bottom in Georgia for catfish with these, it was a deadly presentation!
  19. Well said!
  20. Never made it out. Stopped at the Schuyler rest area Friday evening, checked the trailer hubs for temp and discovered the left hub was overheating/disintegrating! Hubs were recently rebuilt and have been running cool. I'm just thankful we made it to the rest area without a major incident. I'll pick it up in Utica Friday and try again weather permitting.. Tight lines!
  21. Hey Bout Time, Thanks for the input, that will help shape my decision for the morning run. Tight lines!
  22. Any action out of Fairhaven now? Have not seen a post in awhile. Heading out Friday evening. Any recommendations?
  23. Hey Fish Magnet! Nice report! Keep on fishing!
  24. Hey Bob, Thank you for the information, much appreciated. Good fishing/Eric
