  1. Way to go Buckboardjr! Venturing further West this year I see. I have often thought about trying that area also.
  2. Thanks for the report. Sounds like a great time.
  3. You will both remember that trip for a long time. Good stuff.
  4. Ray, Can't thank you enough for the insight. Replaced my speedometer with the autopilot display and did not plug the tube. Thanks again, Eric
  5. Gear shift bellows?
  6. When under power (15-20 MPH) I get a steady flow of water under the right gunwale running off the steering and shifter cables but I can't tell where it is coming from. No water at trolling speeds. Filled the bilge with water, no sign of leaks. Any help is greatly appreciated. Tight lines, Eric
  7. Looking for best price on a new probe. Made another hefty deposit to Lake Ontario last weekend, Lost my probe, chamberlain release and downrigger weight! It was my shakedown cruise and I forgot to put the sacrificial leader between the probe and weight!
  8. I did not notice any difference in the steering. It takes very little time time to set up and be on your way. My first autopilot and I just can't believe how well it works.
  9. Tested mine out in Fairhaven this weekend and it worked great. Held course at trolling speed and at 20 MPH. What a tool!
  10. That fish was eating well! Nice. Thanks for sharing that.
  11. That was my friend Mike that did that not me! LOL That was the weekend he had all his beer stolen from next to his tent while he was sleeping! Probably messed him all up! Ha I will give you a shout. Weather is not looking all that great.
  12. I just realized that my VHF handle "Shake-n-Bake " is now also used to describe a form of POISON that crystal meth addicts use to avoid the realities of life! My cousin and I started using that name years ago after watching Talladega Nights. We got a kick out of it and have grown quite fond of the name. Debating whether or not to change our handle now. Definitely do not want to be associated in any way with that poison. What to do? At least the boat is not lettered with it! Ha DEC and Coast Guardsmen might show a little more interest in us with that name! LOL
  13. Just returned from a 50 mile test run with new bearing, brakes and surge unit. Left side ice cold, right side just a hint of warmth. Checked wheel tightness when I returned home, just a hint of play. I'm thinking I should leave it alone. Any thoughts?
  14. Thanks again guys. I have to get my over greasing habit under control. It has caused me lots of unnecessary work!
  15. Had a transducer go bad a few years ago but it would go to right simulate mode.
  16. What are you guys using?
  17. Not sure where you launched from but if you are in the Southern Basin I would recommend trolling the shoreline around Dunhams Bay, through Assembly Point around Harris Bay on up to Pilot Knob. Most any flutter spoon or stickbait should work fine. Spread it out with planer boards and stay shallow. I'm pretty sure you will leave with a big smile if you run that route and program. Laker fishing there in the spring is first class. I'm going to miss fishing Lake George, the invasive species boat inspection program is more than I want to deal with. I hope this helps and I'd like to see a follow up report from you. Tight lines, Eric
  18. Perfect timing. I'm debating whether to upgrade my surge brakes to disc or maybe go to electric. While checking my brakes out this evening I realized I blew a rear seal, probably over greased. Time for a total rebuild. Bad timing but better than breaking down on I-90 which I have done before!
  19. Thanks again guys. I may even put one on my Islander!
  20. Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm pretty sure Mike will be installing one this week.
  21. A friend of mine is thinking about adding a chute rigger on his stern drive Striper. Any thoughts on this? It seems like the prop and downrigger cable would be dangerously close to me.
  22. Congrats! That is an amazing day!!! First weekend in May for us, can't wait to get on the water again.
