I fished Sodus last weekend. marked like 8-10 decent solid hooks between 150-330' in 5 hrs fishing . Was starting to wonder if the lowrance wasn't working but the occasional bait balls ruled that out. Idk, def not what mid August should be out there
Started blind out of the chamber this morning. Dad and i and Took my nephew and his friend . Started at bellhurst headed south 120 fow with a decent screen. One kid had never caught a are out so he was first to bat. Four rigger rods and two dipsies to start. First fish on 225 dipsy 2.5 average laker came I bottomed half way after alot of "slack" lol. Green gator reel hooked fly and that would be hot combo for the day . The boys Fought all the fish today going 3/8 lakers . Four pound a 7-8 ish and a slob female I guessed at 11-12 (34 ") was landed on the 260' dipsy to end the day ...both boys taking turns and they were whipped . Quick pick and released. Hooked another solid drag screamer that felt bigger when i took out of the holder came unbuttoned when they were both trying to fight it. Great time . One got his first two trout and is already begging to go back ! Green gator /reel hooked combo blue dolphin /turd cutter combo and white green dot /pickle kisser all took shots. No spoon hits . Back to the big pond for a few more weeks
Ok I always post Seneca posts and consider that my "home turf" but have been chasing kings on Lake Ontario for the past month kind of out of the loop. Havent hit seneca since june . Gonna take two youngsters out tomorrow north end or Sampson. What's been going on? Kinda out of the loop a bit . Any help appreciated and will post myresults .
Thanks Kevin
my vote is Mike got lost, took a wrong turn and ended up in Oswego thinking he was on Cayuga. Def a headscratcher, got me but looks like a small king . Thanks for sharing. Cool catch
Fish Canandaigua late morning in the summer. If you run an inline I can guarantee it will get cut off. Its like a game to see how close they can get! I Know there are laws for making a wake within so many feet of an anchored boat but they should revamp that to include a boat "engaged" in fishing
long as were on the topic... my 6 yr old stepped on my diawa black widow copper rod in the cabin and broke the fourth eye down. anyone ever replaced a mid rod eye? ive done tips before only . Sorry to steal your post btw lol.
The Seneca fisherman are a lot more skilled and experienced however Cayuga is AAA trout fishing...JUST KIDDING Cayuga boys, just haven't seen any smack talk lately , had to throw gas back on that fire
Seneca has been a tough one this year for many. My best advice would be try right in front of the marina as a start. drops off quick from there to main basin . Usually a good area. flasher fly for lakers and smaller spoons (stinger scorpions or dreamweaver ss sizes) work best for me for landlocks and browns. . green and black usually a good start and work from there. Fleas will prob be pretty good that time of year as well as floating weed pods. If east side is crapped up straight across from the marina west side pretty good summer spot too. Good luck!
