  1. cheating in my opinion would involve catching the fish before the derby and holding it, going to another lake catching the fish or loading the fish up with weight not sharing the fight. That was a beauty of a brown, wish it had swam my way congrats to both of you
  2. The most important fish to the net this weekend for us. My daughter Kayla's FIRST trout (she wouldn't hold him just pet him lol )
  3. That is awesome Bob! Felt bad for you Thursday when you called and said the boat wasnt ready. What a derby for you! Sorry I missed you when you stopped by the campsite sunday eve we had taken the kids for ice cream. Congrats again!
  4. I took my 4yr old out for a ride last year during the derby, forgot radio on 68. couldn't turn it down fast enough
  5. Blue Ghost representing the NORTH . I don't talk trash, just cash FLSOR checks the goal is Landlock division this year, its the only division we haven't placed in. Good luck to all and be safe! Will be at Sampson tonight after work
  6. Congrats to her Les! Took the boat to Sampson yesterday and helped my dad with his camper. Lake is high, cloudy but fishable. My dad has some difficulty in the boat after the stroke and my brother in law is in a full arm cast from work. I will be working the back of the boat pretty much alone . We are going to scrape the marlin off from the trophy logo and replace it with a big blue handicap logo
  7. you don't want to think that way but unfortunately you are right. Look at the PATRIOTS
  8. ok, us Yankees have to line up at the mason Dixon(about Lodi?) and protect our waters
  9. Great! thanks guys! Hope to post a nice striper pic on here in a few months!
  10. Thanks alot for the advice! It is scusett beach campsite, staying right near the canal. I knew you guys would know the answer! Les I meant to ask you that day in Wegmans bc we had just booked there. I also spent decent $ on my reel on my salmon rod, it's stainless bearings but will the salt water damage it? May use a different reel. I think casting a 3oz sinker may be much for the rod, downrigger rod for bait fishing maybe? Hate to buy more rods, wife was floored when she counted 38 already
  11. Ok guys, looking for a little help. Making a July trip to Succet beach in Cape cod. Not bringing the boat, Will probably take a bay charter but will be right on the ocean and was wondering if stripers are catchable from shore, what to use for gear and tackle and line . I was going to bring my salmon pier casting rod a 9.5' med light action and some of my plentiful casting spoon selection. Never done this , just don't want to be "that guy" the locals laugh at using wrong tackle. Tha is in advance for input, Kevin
  12. A boat that NEVER needs maintenance or repairs, knows where all the fish are and trolls all day on $2 of fuel
  13. Not picking on bait fishermen, sorry if it came off that way. Some genius in an old 70's trihull last year dropped anchor 50 yds in front of our bow. With a boat on the inside, had to turn sharp, I ran to the side and had to pull the board in fast as I could, causing the board lines to tangle. Myself and the other boat let him know how bright his decision was lol
  14. I drain all spring and fall after trips.( 4.3 mercruiser) Four drain cocks in the water manifolds, I pull the lower water pump hose, drop the lower unit and turn it over. Takes 10 mins and beats losing sleep and checking your thermometer all night worrying .
  15. Never run more than 6 during that derby. Run the boards short as well . Too many genius bait fishermen drop anchor 100ft in front of you, leaving you to make drastic turns. A lot easier to snake through the traffic on the shoreline. Different story running the deep water though, a lot more space.
  16. I guess zig zagging is out of the question with twenty rods lol
  17. "Blue Ghost" fishing and camping out of Sampson
  18. Went out Sunday out of the chamber.Just throwing a heads up if any one ventures out on the north end. A TON of floating debris, not small stuff but sections of docks, 4 x 4's, decking boards, large branches etc. mostly floating vertically and very hard to see. had a picket fence post go right under the boat, luckily no damage to the hull outdrive. Go slow be safe. -Kevin
  19. looks a little calmer there than it was on the north end for us Sunday!
  20. anyone who goes out be careful. Shot to the pier on lunch yesterday saw some floating chunks 10-20 ft big. maybe all ashore now or dissolved but a wind change may change that.
  21. Awesome! Going to throw some spoons tomorrow am off the pier. Hopefully make the first boat splash next weekend
  22. Sorry for your loss. Prayers are with you and your family.
  23. the ones with the ladder backs are pirate 44's
