Nice report Tangledline! I am glad to see landlocks and rainbows caught more in Seneca. The past 2 years have been a decline according to the DEC, but I am already seeing better brown and rainbow fishing in the lake this year, I hope it is coming back!
-
good report!! You ready to "work" for some lakers with that wire now? lol Have the Spinnerfleas started bad yet in that lake Zebedee?
-
HEY,LEAVE ME ALONE, IT WORKS ZEBEDEE!! LOL with alot of floor room in a boat it isn't too bad doing it that way. only mess wire about once every 30-35 times. Now the wire will go away for a while and the salmon quest will begin on lake O! if you ever want to get out and try that wire fishing let me know

brown came off the wire in 22-24 fow

Missed the Canandaigua derby this weekend, decided to hit the north end of Seneca for a few hrs in the am. Fished high banks area in 20-35 fow from 6:30am to 10:00 am. Went 9/10 with all lakers except one 27" Brown that my scale read 10lbs! Best brown out of that lake in a while... all but one fish was on copper wire. Lakers ranged from 2-7 lbs. No board releases, but one hard slam on a flatline that was our ONLY LOST FISH OF THE DAY...DAD!! LOL

hey, callahan, that bud light 12pk makes every slow day a great one lol!
-
Hey cdgn, be careful with that! I had a guy want to fight me on the Summerville Pier last year when I told him his "38lb" Salmon was max 25lbs. After one digital scale said 24.5 and the other 26 he just walked away lol but big fish always look bigger when you have the adrenalin and first put them in the net. ps, turp nice laker! what was the length on him?

Taking this derby off. Plan on spending time with the newborn baby girl and wife as well as catching up on yardwork after the Seneca tourney... will be out maybe this weekend however. Good luck to all! p.s get off Canandaigua Lake by 11am if you want to keep your planerboards once the rookie rec boaters all get ou there lol!!!!!!

National Lake Trout Derby results

A couple of us were fishing the Bellhurst area with wire and top lines. The bigger fish were all near the bait. Found an area 56 degrees, but since the bait was there it held bigger but fewer fish it seemed. -

Did pretty well, landed 62 fish over the weekend. 61 lakers, 1 bow.One laker placed @ 10.85 lbs, The grand prize winner is a friends 16yr old daughter that caught the fish running the same line as us! Congrats Stacey! Most of the lakers we got were from 3-6lb range, few bigger all on the North End. Zebedee sorry I never got back to you on the radio, I was running all over the back of the boat like a monkey this weekend The 60 gallons of fuel burned hurts though had an awesome derby and can't wait to be back at Sampson next year!!! -

I am off to Sampson! see you all there, good luck and should be on 16 or 68 on vhf! -
funny story about a stillfisherman 2 yrs ago, we were working an area S. of Sampson hooking lt left and right, as well as a big landlock, one boat was finally frusterated enough in watching us and just started swearing, flipping us off telling us to get the F*** out of their bla bla bla go out to deeper water lol! We were keeping a good distance from him, but next pass put the planer board almost in his lap lol

Staying lot #244, 21' white Trophy "Blue Ghost" be down tommorow can't wait! -
yeah, we have been doing good. Same here, deepest I've ever run the rigs besides salmon fishing lake O. deepest I hit them was 150 but have seen them moving in the past few weeks. The east side is trickey, but most the floating crap is in a group, I gave up early on the boards last time and went to flatlines and wire to avoid it best I could. I love it when they see you hooking fish and anchor in front of you as you pass through! lol
-
yeah, we had the same. Have placed 3 out of last 4 years with the same program, just all the stillfishing makes it tough to troll my area. We will be at Sampson as well good luck!
-
Thats ok, once all hell breaks loose Sat am and the fish have lockjaw its a new ballgame
-

Scruffytoad, I passed a Tan searay, white top coming out of the canal enterance when we were coming in was that you about 10;30am?
-
She's dong great Zebedee, thanks! Did not get out for the LOC this year, planning on the fall. Where are you fishing the Memorial day Tourney from? we will be staying at Sampson from Thurs. on, probablly fishin the North End or Dresden. Do you monitor any certain channel on the radio?
-
hey scruffytoad, where were you on Seneca? I may have seen you out there, I had the white 22' Trophy "Blue Ghost" running the east shore near the pump house. What were you running for speed? This time of year for lakers you want to be 1.2-1.6 mph. Fall you can get away with 1.8-2.4 mph. Green Spin Doctors, green flies have been good this year. NK 28 frog also has its days. We use a trolling plate with an i/o but maybe even a bucket over the side or drift bag may work enough. Sounds like you were running the right depths, wrong speed. hope I can be of help and good luck! Let me know

I went through the same thing fishon this past fall. No bad luck yet this year, but taking the boat down to the Tourney Memorial Day weekend on Seneca Lake I am sure to have more stories! Best advice if they suck it in the prop, free the drag, let that clicker sing and give them ALL the line they want in that prop:) -
Fished the East side from about 6:30am to 10:30 am. Went 15/22 all lakers. Almost all came on wire with the exception of 2. Biggest was around 9lbs., rest in the 3-4lb range. about 5 boats running the same stretch, did not see much else caught. Ranged from 40-50fow. Water temp of 53 bringin them in!!! Also grabbed about a 2lb perch and 1 pike, great day on the water!
