  1. It relates to any boat engine that draws raw water from the lake for engine cooling purposes and has water in the block and manifolds that can freeze and do damage to the block. My apologies for just writing I/O and not also inboard owners. Anyway, its getting warmer so hopefully it no longer be needed.
  2. From your lips to god's ears..
  3. Here is a nation wide craigslist and more site. You might just get lucky. http://www.adhuntr.com/
  4. Read the scientific forecaster discussion. Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Buffalo New York 755 PM EDT Friday Apr 24 2015 Synopsis... high pressure will gradually build across the Great Lakes while the persistent low over northern New England moves further away through Sunday. This will result in some sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures this weekend with a more notable warming trend is expected by the middle of next week. && Near term /through Saturday/... skies are starting to clear across portions of western and central New York this evening. A pesky area of cloud cover extending from the Niagara Frontier east to Rochester and into The Finger lakes will hang on for a few more hours...but should clear overnight as a narrow ridge of high pressure builds into the lower lakes. Clouds will be more difficult to dislodge across the north country as that region remains under the influence of the persistent vertically stacked low over eastern New England and the Canadian Maritimes. Deeper moisture and more persistent weak ascent will continue to support cloud cover over the Saint Lawrence valley and Adirondacks overnight...with areas closer to Lake Ontario possibly seeing some clearing. Over the rest of the area the clear skies and diminishing winds in this cold/dry airmass will allow for good radiational cooling. Expect lows to drop into the middle 20s in most inland areas...with some of the coolest southern tier valleys possibly dropping into the upper teens. Only the immediate lakeshores will stay in the lower 30s overnight with light onshore winds. On Saturday a narrow ridge of high pressure will provide a good deal of sunshine for most areas. Some middle/high clouds will brush the southwest corner of the state on the northern edge of a system moving through the Ohio Valley. Some diurnal cumulus may pop during the midday and afternoon inland from the lakes...but coverage should be much less than today. Clouds will still be more persistent east of Lake Ontario in closer proximity to the Maritimes low. This will produce a mix of clouds and sun at best...with some areas especially across the higher terrain and Saint Lawrence valley likely staying mostly cloudy. 850mb temperatures moderate to around -3c or so...which will support low 50s in most areas inland from the lakes...with some middle 50s possible in the typically warmer valleys of The Finger lakes and southern tier. Gradient onshore northerly flow will keep the lakeshores in the lower to middle 40s...and a local lake breeze may also develop near Buffalo and keep downtown cooler. &&
  5. To all you I/O owners. The national weather service in Buffalo expects temperatures to drop down into the twenties and in the lower valleys into the teens tonight. Maybe we should pull those plugs and let the old block drain before it cracks.
  6. I use the longer ones for my wireline dip sets . I like them a lot. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. They say fish catching machine, not fish robot. Anyway,it seems to me that you are dabbling in either philosophy ,Zen Buddhism, or just plain old severe cabin fever
  8. Whiskey river diver. drunk divin' duck Rye river rat I know it's more of a blues thing, but it has a nice sound to it.
  9. I changed my 1985 to electronic ignition and it is trouble free. It cost me 189 dollars through michigan motorz. You will find that the timing seems to be different, using the "shunt". It is probably a bit more precise. But,if you are happy and comfortable with the points, you should stay with it.
  10. If you go upstream in a river and that river has a current that runs at three miles per hour, you can go forward at five miles per hour relative to let's say a log that comes down the river at three miles per hour, but your speed relative to the shore of the river is only 2 miles per hour. There is not much surface current in Lake Ontario, but the wind often pushes boats sideways thereby increasing speed relative to the water.
  11. GPS gives land speed, not water speed. Imagine you go upstream in a current. Water speed can be 5mph while land speed is 2 mph.
  12. Are you sure that it is a 1983? The VRO 's were not sold until late 1985. Or is the cowling simply giving the wrong info??
  13. I love taking part in the east end triple crown and once a year the Oswego pro-am, but at the same time I only love it because of its entertainment value. If the competitive part would take the fun out of it, I won't participate anymore.
  14. Maybe I try to counter their pride and prejudice with mine.
  15. Does not the use of a coaxial cable effectively neutralize any electro-magnetic field that might be produced by these underwater power lines?
  16. Naysayer? Sorry if I gave that impression. My politics are libertarian and conservationist. Neither liberal nor conservative have a monopoly on loving the world around us and trying to preserve it. As for countering every anti liberal attack? 2 things. First, politics do not belong on a family friendly chat room. It is a blood sport of the nasty kind. Second, every rash remark should at least have some rational counter argument. I do not promote liberal politics nor to I support conservative politics of the R. Limbaugh kind. As for people who have the courage and dedication to be teachers in your area, They deserve a medal, and much better salaries. Does your wife teach at Van Etten?
  17. acreage does not vote, people do
  18. Some good points there.I guess that when there is a kid who has all these qualities, he or she should not have much of a problem passing these test successfully anyway. You gave all the good reasons to opt out. I don't think that disliking Cuomo is a good reason. I do not like cuomo any more than any other career politician, but my feelings about cuomo will never influence the decisions i make about my children's future
  19. I have one question about these tests and it is for employers. If you have to hire a new young employee. Who would you rather hire. A kid who successfully passed these tests or a kid who did not take them?
  20. Not quite. I seem to remember that the Sodus pro-am often has a bit of a problem with 4 and 5 footers
  21. What on Gods good earth does this have to do with the subject matter?
  22. that's the way it is in Mass. ,but the real problem is farther down south around washington where commercial fisheries are destroying the baitfish that stripers need.
  23. The half keels became popular when people found out that 2 full keels with weights sink at slow speeds, so Big Jon started making special order half keels. The extra weight is not absolutely neccessary but it does work better.
