Do not split it. Use all 10 colors with some backing and some leader. Its great for laker fishing. Use 30 feet of 12 pound leader for lakers.

Any 4stroke outboard can run on propane. You will have to change the carburetor or injector system. If you are so inclined you can even make it a multi fuel engine. Don't try it with a 2stroke because the engine will set up. It is not very popular in the US because there is not much price difference between the 2 fuels, but in Europe where lpg is about 30% cheaper than regular gas, a large percentage of cars and boats have changed over and plenty of gas stations are equiped to fill lpg fuel tanks the same way you fill your gas tank

That is the north side of the hole. It's a great place with very steep drop offs. Leave some for me!

Were you over the hole just due east of the point?

Any Suggestions on Fishfinder setup that will mark fish/bait at speed
rolmops replied to mcny's topic in This Old Boat
The problem with almost any fish finder that you can find is the "gain" or sensitivity. What is great for trolling at 3mph is just snow at 10 mph. The moment you go into search mode you have to turn down your gain because at higher speeds you get way to much info streaming onto your screen and all you see is snow and a million fish. which may in fact be very accurate information but at the same time way too much information. -
A Queen has a 68 inch wide and 20 inch high transom. It is rated for a 80 horse engine and and a 1524 pound overall load. I think that you are ok by just leaving everything in the back. With the closed bow ,you want to keep as much open space as you can. Besides, your flotation material (if it is stiill there) is styrofoam. Styrofoam does not like gasoline. It will melt on contact.

Average fish per day?
rolmops replied to hawkeye625's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
I do suspect that those 17 fish included smelt or alewives. Or maybe a bit of fishermans latin. -
I may be interested inyour boat. Can you pm me a few pics ,so I can get a rough idea what I would be dealing with?

If it is a 15 inch transom, you can put the tanks near the bench. If it is a "luxury" rig with 2 front seats, put them just behind the seats. Since you run a 50 horse merc it may very well be a 20 inch transom in which case I would just change the angle of that engine a bit so she goes down and on plane a bit faster.Just don't over do it because she will stick her bow into the waves instead of over them Is this a Monaco 16?

It does not matter which one goes where, but the original setup is with the air supply (just the hose)coming down from starboard/stern into the doghouse/bilge and the air suction with the blower attached to the wood of the transom so that it sucks the air out of the doghouse/bilge and blows it to the port side outlet. Just take a piece out to see what diameter hose you have and go to a marine supply store to buy about 5 feet for each side. This ventilation system is not only required by law,it can and does prevent onboard fires and explosions.

What he really means has nothing to do with guns or second amendment rights. He means to get re-elected and he can count very well. There are a lot more voters who are centrist to left leaning in this state than there are centrist to right leaning ones. And like any good capitalist he goes where the most profit(votes that is) is to be had. One very good tactic is to attack the unpopular opinions of minorities, mostly because the angry reactions produce extra votes for him.

I just read some posts by people who bought a Furuno 585 or 587 with the 600 w or 1000 w capacity. The advice given in that post was to use a 600 w transducer instead of a 1kw transducer. It is my understanding that by using the 600 watt setup, you just as well might have either kept the Furuno 582 or the 620 /627 which are built with a 600 watt capacity. So why choose a 585/587 ? what other improvements does it have over the 620/627?

Buying a new electronics
rolmops replied to bobber down's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
I used bottom and side imaging both in Lake Ontario and on the fingerlakes. On the open water(Ontario)the side imaging was close to useless, mostly because there was no structure to find, although I sometimes registered baitschools that were high up of to the side and on the return tack I would aim for these schools using the side imaging information of the previous tack. But overall,it mattered very little. On the fingerlakes with its vertical dropoffs it is great. Specially for bass and pike that is hanging out in this structure. I used it a lot on the north-west end of Keuka lake and picked up a lot of fish with it. -
We are in one of those weird cycles. A few years ago there was a big outbreak of rabies which killed a lot of raccoons ,foxes and coyotes. As a result the turky population exploded. This in turn made it possible for fox and coyote to have a fresh population explosion. Now we are with a lesser turky population and both fox and coyote are pressed and competing for less food available. It's not just a fox coyote connection. It's all connected.
