  1. Those are casting rods not trolling rods
  2. We fished out of Oswego on Sunday. It was a very different lake. Where only a few days ago the thermocline was at over a hundred feet down, now it was at 30 to 50 feet down . At over 400 feet the thermocline started a waving pattern of between 70 and a hundred feet down. We did see see some bait in 400 feet at around 50 to 80 down. Not a good day! We ended up with one steelie and 3 salmon and they were in the 5 to 10 pound range.
  3. If you go into I-Boats and ask this question, there is a very good chance that a licensed tohatsu mechanic will answer your questions. The guy lives in Buffalo.
  4. There is another legal way. You will have to go to to a NY DMV office and explain your situation. They will guide you on your next steps. In the end you will have to send all your paperwork to the Albany DMV office, where it will be decided if you made every reasonable effort to contact the previous owner ,like sending two registered letters that are returned because they could not be delivered. You may have to be a bit creative in your answers to the questionnaire, but usually you end up with a title and the boat will yours in your name. good luck.
  5. Agreed, but travel is not storage because of all the movement and centrifugal forces in play when driving.
  6. Yes, new in Costco and BJs for less than a hundred dollars
  7. The "correct side" is a tricky thing seeing that vertical is the ideal side
  8. That would work if the the boat is pre1984 from 1984 on a title is needed. You may be able to create a bill of sale from a state that does not require registration.
  9. You were in one of those incredible unsinkable Boston Whalers. That little fact is probably what kept you alive.
  10. I'll take the spoons and pick them up tonight or tomorrow.. You've got a pm
  11. Very deliberately working on the woodwork of the Starcraft Islander that I am restoring. Restoring a boat is almost as good as fishing and there are fewer weather problems.
  12. Sorry. it comes without the transducer
  13. OA 7522171 is a 1989 3 cylinder 80 horse or a 75xd (same thing). Check it out on page four of this attached pdf Mercury63_92(2).pdf
  14. I bought it in march, but then I decided to go with a 1 kilo watt 588 . The 628 sells for $ 695 new. this one is $550
  15. By the looks of it, it is an 582 L (ed) monitor. It is a one kilo watt unit without frills. Probably over 10 years old. They are very good units that with the right transducer will allow you to see your down rigger cable. They are very user friendly
  16. I usually run them at 17 feet and away from the spoons. If you run them closer, you will have to lower your rigger a bit slower, because the flasher fly may get tangled in the rigger cable.
  17. Sorry these pumps do not have the filter inside. I got mixed up with the evinrude ones.
  18. You can just unscrew the the big bolt in the center of the fuel pump and you will find the filter screen right behind the cover. that is the easy part. If you take the pump itself apart do it on a large piece of cloth. there are a few very small parts in there. like a ball and a spring. Make sure you remember exactly where everything goes. The diaphragm is very cheap , but people often end up buying a new pump. There are special tools to test fuel pressure, but I never used one. It is just easier to replace the diaphragm. They usually look deformed when you open the pump.
  19. If neither of those tricks help your fuel pump may be under performing. There may be a tiny leak in the diaphragm or a dirty fuel filer which is in the pump.
  20. I had the same engine and I had similar problems. It seems that these engines have a "dead " spot while accelerating. You can rev it up real slow and you will see that that your problem is very clear as you described. The engine does not get enough fuel at that rpm to properly accelerate . There are two ways to overcome the problem. the first is giving it a bit of choke as you near the trouble rpm The second is to slam the hammer down to full speed as you near the trouble spot. That often helps getting it over the bump.. Let us know if that helped
  21. I will try to be “Devil’s Advocate” in this matter. I think that we just take it for granted that everyone should know that our fishing boats have lines out that are up to 400 feet behind the boat. Not everyone knows that. Also, being out on the water causes a certain “awareness gap” and causes the brain to go into a different place. Many years ago, when I taught my kids how to drive I told them that they should expect everybody around them to be complete idiots and that it is smarter to be wise than it is to be right. Using that attitude prevents a lot of trouble and keeps you from being upset when you should be happy
  22. Are those the original ones made in Rochester,or are they made in Canada?
